A Health Care Assistant has a very vital role in a person's life. Whether the person is elderly, disabled, mentally ill, and or physically ill, they may not be able to take care of themselves without assistance. Thus, a Health Care Assistant’s job requirements may vary a great deal from person to person but will include:
• Housekeeping
• Meal preparation and/or cooking
• Personal care (bathing and/or toileting)
• Dressing
• Transportation/attending appointments with Clients
• Administering Medication
• Record Keeping
• Reporting to the office
• Commuting between clients
• Domestic duties
You will receive on-the-job training, and after your probation you will be able to achieve your Health and Social Care Diploma through your job position as a Health Care Assistant, as well.
Along with your hourly wage you will also receive set paid mileage, you may be eligible for the company pension and company benefits. After your probation you will then be placed onto a salaried wage.
Health Care Assistant's must have good communications skills, must be caring, and must have the ability to react quickly to ensure their clients safety. You must hold integrity, good written and verbal skills, and you must work with compassion and empathy.
Experience is essential, you must hold at least your Health and Social Care Diploma level 2 or be willing to work towards this. You must have worked within the Care industry for at least a year and have a good solid understanding of the caring for individuals within their own homes. You must have a clean criminal record, a full clean driving licence and a well maintained car.
You will receive on-the-job training, and after your probation you will be able to achieve your Health and Social Care Diploma through your job position as a Health Care Assistant, as well.
