Care and Support Worker

Are you in the same age bracket as I am? “Over 50, Over 18”

Amazing how when looking for a role we find comments like “Over qualified!”, “Good life skills but not enough computer knowledge!”, “Too old!”, “We are really looking for someone who can …..!”, "Too young!", "No experience!"

Well I don't say any of those. 

I say “Over 50 or over 18, what experience and ethos will you bring with you.”

I run Radfield Homecare Epsom and Leatherhead, taking care of people within their own homes.  I make sure our clients live as independently as they want and can.  My priority is their needs, enabling them to live life well.  That includes their choices and wishes and the people we employ to support them.

The role of “Carer” is diverse and misunderstood. 

I employ Care Professionals. Care Professionals are amazing humans aged 18 and above from all backgrounds and cultures.  They are people who want to make a difference, put a smile on someone's face because they made the tea in their favourite cup.  Or they laughed at the stories they made up when out for lunch.  They sat and listened when no one else would.  Great homecare, Premium homecare is about meeting the needs of the client and the Care professional. It is making sure everyone is able to be supported the way they wish to be by excellently trained staff.  It is about supporting our diverse community to work together to create a caring culture.

Being a Care professional is a CAREER path, that career path will look differently for everyone.  We have Care Professionals who work day in day out with their clients, we have Care professionals who train and take on the varying roles available within the care industry. Senior Carer, Field Care Supervisors, Care Co-ordinators, Deputy managers, Registered Managers.  Some start within the homecare sector and reach different goals, a Firefighter, Paramedic, Nurse.  The pathway is there to be taken if you choose.

Our Care Professional’s support our clients to access the local shops, read the paper, take appointments, make a home cooked meal with/for their client.  It is always about enabling our clients to live their lives well and be safe.  We support with personal care, but most importantly we support with dignity, equality and companionship.  The most important qualities are kindness, trust, good ears for listening and a warm voice for talking.  We can train people to be Care Professionals, we can support you to work for an employer who values you.  We want you to Be Yourself, Be connected to us and our clients, Be inspired to support our clients to live their lives well.
