If you have been left with a disability due to an accident or disease caused by your work or service in the Armed Forces, you may be eligible for Constant Attendance Allowance (CAA).
This is money to support you if you require care and assistance with daily living due to your disability.
You may also be eligible for support with the current cost of living and Carer’s Allowance.
Please note that you cannot claim Constant Attendance Allowance alongside Attendance Allowance.
How much is Constant Attendance Allowance (2024/25)?
How much you get depends on how severe your disability is and how much care you need.
This will be determined by the medical examination you had for one of the qualifying benefits (War Disablement Pension or Industrial Injuries Disablement), or you may need a new examination if your circumstances have changed.
The rates for the tax year 2024/25 are:
- Exceptional rate: £177.40 a week
- Intermediate rate: £133.05 a week
- Full day rate: £88.70 a week
- Part day rate: £44.35 a week
Who is eligible for Constant Attendance Allowance?
You may be eligible if:
- You claim either:
- War Disablement Pension of 80% or higher
- or Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit and be considered 100% disabled
- The disability that entitles you to one of the above benefits causes you to require care and support with daily living, such as to eat, wash, dress or go to the toilet.
If you receive War Disablement Pension and qualify for Constant Attendance Allowance, you may additionally be eligible for:
- Age Allowance
- Allowance for Lowered Standard of Occupation
- Clothing Allowance
- Invalidity Allowance
- Unemployability Supplement
- War Pensioners Mobility Supplement
- Severe Disablement Occupational Allowance (or Exceptionally Severe Disablement Allowance)
