Beech Tree Total Care Dover & Deal

from Robert M (Husband of Client) published on 10 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Overall I am satisfied with the care/service provided by Beechtree, the timing of visits can be erratic, the last call of the day should be 20.00 but sometimes the carer arrives at 19.15. The morning 11.40 call can be late but I understand that calls can take longer if there is an issue with the patient,
or heavy traffic, weather etc. If there is a late morning call after an early call the night before the service user will have been in bed for an extended period.
The care provided is usually thorough. Some careers take longer than others but in general, I find the care provided is acceptable.
When I have had cause to phone the office, not always been able to get through. But any issue I have raised has been answered.
There was an issue about the care plan but this was resolved.
I would give the majority of staff 5 *.

I can't thank the Live-in Care team enough! The carers have been amazing with my mum who has dementia. They're so kind, patient, and really know how to keep her comfortable and happy. Some of the carers do not complete the time the allocated for, one of the carers become aggressive when approached about how much time is left. In addition some of them tamper with the times that they arrive and leave and write lies about the family in the visit logs. This is not indicative of all the
carers as some have been okay.

Reply from Sanjay Raju, Digitial Marketing Lead at Westminster Homecare (North East London)

Dear K, Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We sincerely regret hearing about your experience and take matters like this very seriously. Please accept our apologies for any distress caused. At Westminster Homecare, we are committed to providing the highest standard of care and do not tolerate any behaviour that falls below expectations. Mum started receiving care at the start of November 2024. She has four visits a day from a team of two and I can honestly say they have been absolutely brilliant. I recently asked Mum how she is getting on with the carers and she said they were all really good. For mum to say that, is a huge compliment.
I asked if she had a favourite and she replied that of course she hasn't, if the others found out they wouldn't like it! Thanks for what you've done Westminster and keep up the excellent work.

I found the overall experience of carers from Westminster Agency very pleasant, they were always very professional, kind and courteous and treated my husband with great dignity whilst he was suffering from a terminal illness and was receiving palliative care. I will always be grateful to them for making
his end-of-life care as comfortable as possible.

Reply from Sanjay Raju, Digitial Marketing Lead at Westminster Homecare (Norwich)

We give the highest compliments to Westminster Homecare, specifically the branch manager, Westminster Homecare Southwest London. The branch manager and her team cared for our very elderly mother with severe self-neglect and refusing all support. The branch manager supported and guided us with incredible
expertise and professionalism. We had to rely on her and her team to be our "eyes and ears" to assess our mother's situation as we did not reside in the UK, yet could no longer move our mother. The branch manager showed extraordinary compassion and empathy, while offering practical solutions as our mother's condition deteriorated. Having the Westminster Homecare team, with the branch manager's guidance, provided us for the first time in many years with relief from worrying about our mother's situation. We want to also recognize the incredible work of the carers. Our mother was very hostile yet they treated her with such compassion and kindness. We cannot thank the Westminster Homecare Southwest team enough.

Reply from Sanjay Raju, Digitial Marketing Lead at Westminster Homecare (South West London)

Thank you for the incredible feedback. We're genuinely grateful for your recognition of the Southwest London branch manager and the team. Their professionalism, compassion and dedication are at the core of our service, and it's so meaningful to know they made a difference in taking good care of your mother. We're also proud of the caregivers' kindness and patience in challenging circumstances. Thank you for trusting Westminster Homecare. I wish you and your family peace and comfort. Take care!

Beech Tree Total Care Dover & Deal

from S E (Daughter of Client) published on 30 October 2024

Extremely poor, unprofessional 'office' management.
Managers constantly advising they're short-staffed, have staff sickness and put their client's family in a position where they feel obligated to cover contracted calls.
Care calls are often made at times not contracted and not within the permitted
30 minutes on either side of the agreed call time. Visits are sometimes a number of hours late or early - which sometimes results in the client not getting the required care because they are out at hospital appointments or visiting unwell relatives.
Carers used to cover domestic (cleaning) calls. The perception is that cleaning is not done as agreed contractually; instead, it's a quick surface skim.
Abuse of power by 'office' management. When l have rebutted what l have been told, because it is untrue, the 'office' management takes offence and clearly is not receptive to feedback or an alternate, real view.
The result - the care package was cancelled. I suspect there's a bullying culture in Beech Tree.

Highly recommend Care at Home their carers are friendly and attentive and always willing to do whatever is needed and often go the extra mile. The only negative is the carers change often and they are not always able to accommodate ad hoc requirements such as an additional visit when needed. Overall

Very caring.
I seem to have the new overseas carers who are initially needing training for my needs. My husband is essential for this. Once told they act on my needs.
Mutual respect is most important. I believe this is the only way for care
user, office and carer to have a good working relationship!

Timekeeping is a big problem. I requested my Carer for 9 am each day. The timetable does not keep to this and often the carer is timetabled for 9.45 or even 10.10 and sometimes does not arrive until much later, especially at weekends. The reason often given by the carers is not enough time allowed
between calls to meet the schedule.

Beech Tree Total Care Dover & Deal

from B C (Wife of Client) published on 5 April 2024

Unfortunately today, due to a few genuine complaints about my disabled husband's lack of personal hygiene care by one carer in particular has caused the Beech Tree Care Agency to discontinue their service with us, despite us highly complimenting 3 other carers. We have effectively been given notice
till 9th April when the service will end. As a business director myself, I am totally appalled of the way we have been treated and disregarded. I always listen to my customers and do my utmost to address and correct any concerns, reputation is vital in business however this branch seems to fail and acknowledge the importance of this.
We now have to find an alternative carer at very short notice.
Today, my husband took a turn because of the upset and blamed himself for making a complaint. He was in tears, can you imagine at 76 suffering from a severe stroke that has left him disabled down his right side and being treated in this way! He is a proud man and deserves respect.

Reply from Sally Taylor, Area Manager at Beech Tree Total Care Dover & Deal

Thank you for your feedback, we value feedback good and bad as there is always lessons to be learnt on a curve to continually improve our services. We wish you and your husband well for the future.
