My Dad receives 4 calls a day from Lotus Home Care and the carers are amazing, they do everything that is in the care plan and always go above and beyond to help. I cannot thank them enough as it gives me a chance to actually spend time with my dad rather than cooking, cleaning and shopping. The office
staff have been great from the beginning and always let me know if they are going to be late or sending new carers. Thank you.

The service is usually fine, but recently, I've noticed the timekeeping has slipped. My mother must have her medication on time, 8 hours apart, when the breakfast call slips to late morning, this affects when her medication is given also. I know you can't make her get out of bed if she doesn't want
to, but if she stays in bed all day, it affects her mobility. She needs to walk around, so please encourage her to get up.

I never know the time carers are coming which makes it very difficult for my daughter to take me out in the car or for me to use my mobility scooter. For instance she took me to York shopping on Thursday. My carers have been coming roughly between 4 pm, 4:30 pm or 5 pm. On this date our phone went at
3 pm in York. We said we would be back 1 and a half hours later. On arriving back home in Pocklington phoned Lotus to tell them what had happened and they said they would let the carer know and ask her to visit later but she never came. I know they are very busy and rushed off their feet.

There was some duplication with both myself and the staff ordering and collecting medication for dad but this is now sorted and Lotus take
full responsibility for ordering and collecting medication which is one less job for me and much appreciated. Thank you .

I want to do this commendation to certain staff members of Lotus Rotherham, unfortunately I cannot name them but in particular the two teams. They always treat my mum with respect and above all kindness. I would also like to add the person on the out-of-hours line on Friday night and Saturday 10th/11th
Jan 2025 to this commendation. Any care providers don't always get the praise they deserve, but these guys do their very best with the resources they have. I have my own quite serious health issues at the moment and the weather has been extreme of late, yet I know mum is safe with them. Prior to Lotus as a family we had 2 other care companies which were far from being close to adequate but Lotus are worlds apart. My mother is 24/7 bed bound but those teams make sure Mum is heard and cared for and Mum seems happy, I love seeing her smile when they do her hair and they listen to her and have more patience than me finding something for her to watch. Thank you!

Management I have given poor due to not acting on my concerns over Mum being left in bed until 11 am twice a week while carers are being sent to Tadcaster
in Mum's slot.

We had no experience with the "care" system before the year. I have been pleasantly surprised by what I have found. The carers are all nice people and are polite and pleasant and get in with their duties in a professional manner. Indeed I actively look forward to their daily visits.

A few weeks of respite care at home and at short notice was provided for my husband. The manager was very good, caring and professional and arranged for us to meet the carer prior. My husband was looked after well and the house was very clean on my return. Unfortunately as English was not the carers'
first language there were difficulties in understanding and he could not hold conversations.

All new carers should go with others for at least a solid week. There is one young girl who doesn't like dealing with men that more often than not doesn't do anything but stand around fiddling with her phone leaving the other carer to do everything else. Carers need much more training, not just dumped
in at the deep end. Lotus need to stop putting extra clients onto carers at a moment's notice as this is very unfair to long-standing current clients. Also if the carers are going to be running quite late then it should be the office's job to inform the client as the carers are far too busy to do this. Apart from one incident which has been dealt with most of the carers do a decent job with the odd little mistake which I tend to comment on. Sometimes they don't always let me know if they need me to order anything and I only find out when they inform me it has run out. I now make sure that I keep a stock of certain items, some items take a week to arrive others three days.

Overall, the care was very good (especially as it was free, arranged through the NHS).
We did notice some small differences between different staff members, probably largely caused by differences in experience gained in the job. Attention to detail was more complete with some staff members.
We found
the uncertainty about when to expect the visit or lack of attention to times indicated was sometimes inconvenient.
However, the help over the whole period (of six weeks) served to lessen the load on myself and on my wife. I am progressing slowly and regaining strength. Thank you.

The care package for my mother-in-law was provided at very short notice when she was discharged from Hull Royal Infirmary back to her apartment. The staff from Lotus Home care provided an excellent service in very difficult and, at times, very awkward circumstances. Much admiration from myself and wife,
especially for the manager, in coping, at times late into the evening and weekends, with a rapidly changing series of events.

Generally ok. Timing of calls causing problems - AM calls finishing at 9:30 am, then lunch call at 11:30 (2hrs later) then tea call 3:30 pm and night call at 9:30 pm - not spaced regularly through the day. Most staff use equipment properly - not all staff know how to use all equipment.
Call times being
changed during the day- not notified - causing meal times to be interrupted or delayed - as a diabetic, this can have a detrimental effect.
Staff polite, on the whole, but overseas staff tend to talk in their own language instead of English to interact and provide social contact.

This can certainly disrupt daily routines, especially with the challenges you've mentioned, like meal times being affected, which can be concerning with health needs, such as diabetes. You have said that most staff are using equipment properly, though some are not fully familiar with all of it. It's essential for all staff to be adequately trained. The changes to call times, particularly without prior notification, is something that can be improved especially during meal times. I understand the concern regarding communication between overseas staff. Have had Lotus Home Care staff for the past 8 months. Seem to have settled into a core team that we see regularly with occasional others to support familiar faces if needed.
Love how staff engage with elderly Mum. She responds well to their engagement which is lovely to see and hear.
They have managed
and supported me as Mum's condition has deteriorated. Discussing their feelings about what's needed or possible but always leaving it to me to decide and I value their input.
Iv been able to engage with the office and have my requests clearly added to call duties. Interactions between the office, the carers visiting and me have always been good. Thank you

Same carer for 18 months - with approximately 30 - 40 carers to assist her. Never informed about changes to times etc. Sometimes appear 1 hour early or 1 hour late. No messages! The office from which they work never contact. If we lose our main carer we would look for another provider.
