Formally known as Mayday Homecare, Choices Homecare's motto is 'skilled care your way', which is a philosophy they look to bring to older and vulnerable adults throughout Greater Manchester, the North West and beyond. They are proud to support people to live in their own homes for longer and can provide a full range of homecare services.

Their 'Values' are embedded throughout the Organisation to ensure they reflect their Vision.

With a person centred approach they offer a wide range of care services (including support with: personal care, meal preparation, medication assistance, home respite/safety check visits or sitting services whilst family go out, assisting service users to go out into the community, shopping, light domestic help and more). They can also provide support to adults who suffer dementia or those with learning or other disabilities.

There is a strong focus on quality recruitment and training and Choices are passionate about delivering safe, well planned services; care and support workers promote choice and independence to assist service users in remaining as independent as possible, whatever the situation. Outcome-focused services take account of client preferences and aspirations, with 'Choices' considering themselves as 'working in partnership with their service users' to deliver, quality services to each and every one.

Some carers are excellent but poor service is now repugnant since since Keymen took over. My Mum is 84 with Alzheimer’s. Over the past weeks she’s not had medication given (at least twice), had curtains closed all day/not closed at night, worktops left dirty with food, not been put to bed (and told
it was teatime!), had late and missed visits (never any phone calls to explain as promised); not taken to toilet before bed; No false-teeth in and left alone with food she cannot eat; not fully clothed; left alone with food shes spilt everywhere, and more. Previously she’s not been showered for over a week and even administered the wrong medication which made her ill! It took over 2 months for a reply to my complaints via phone and many emails (as instructed). Promised phone calls never happen, and at each review/discussion promises are made which are ultimately empty. Mayday have constantly left my mum, my family and me distressed with their abhorrent, disgusting, and upsetting service.

Carer came in used the bathroom and left.
No food offered, commode not checked. Had to get off to get someone else to bed.
My friend has had a cuppa soup all day and this was made by a nurse who visited.

After having a horrendous experience with another local care agency, my mum went under the care of Mayday. The ladies who attended to my mother were 100% professional, courteous and exceeded all our expectations in respect of the care given to my mum. Their timekeeping was accurate and they adhered
to the hours that were allocated to my mum, unlike the other care company we used who seemed to come and go as they please and overcharged us. The Mayday carers identified when my mother was deteriorating leading to a quick admission into hospital. They brought a smile to my mother's face and she always enjoyed seeing the people who attended her, purely because she knew she was being looked after 'properly'. They fed her properly and understood any instruction that my mother gave them.
When she was admitted to a local care home, two of the carers made a visit to her based on the relationship they had formed over such a short period of time, I cannot thank Mayday enough.

I have been a client of Mayday for 16 months. I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with the care I receive. My carers are very friendly and understanding. They seem to always know what care I need and carry my care out happily. They really cheer me up when I am feeling down. They make a really
great team and they are all so well mannered. During the corona pandemic, they were always wearing the appropriate PPE equipment and are still wearing it. Staff would sort any problems I had, although it was rare they were only too happy to help.

Hi, my name is Victoria Mangnall and I am the Senior Care Coordinator here at Choices Homecare, based in Bolton, our service covers both the Bolton & Bury areas.

At Choices, we offer a range of services and can provide professional staff for all levels of care. We administer quality bespoke care to service users in the community and tailor each package especially to meet our service user’s needs.

What makes us unique at Choices Homecare?
We have values that are imbedded within all aspects of our work and that's to deliver a service to be proud of.

We aim to deliver high-quality person-centred services that exceed the expectations of service users, commissioners and other stakeholders. We want our staff to be proud to work for the organisation and the role they play in delivering our services and they are

1. Person Centred
Putting the individual at the heart of our service.

2. Responsive
Well-coordinated and planned services that deliver effective outcomes for individuals.

3. Innovative
Continuously developing and improving our services.

4. Delight
Ensuring every individual service user is delighted by the care they receive.

5. Engagement
Providing opportunities for staff and service users to engage fully in the organization.

I could sit here for days telling you about what I do daily because no two days are the same.

One day I could be doing:

Paperwork
Attending meetings
Working side-by-side with my Care Assistants in the community or the office.
Every day is different and as Senior Care Coordinator, I have to be ready for anything and everything.

Throughout my whole life I was always told 'If you do a job you love, you'll never have to work a single day for the rest of your life' - This has stuck with me throughout and has been my inspiration to pursue my goals in health and social care.

I have 13 years of service now and over this time I have learned so much; the support I have had from all of my colleagues has been really valuable, without their guidance, my day-to-day working life may have been harder.

I also want to take this chance to remind my care staff of all that they do to support someone, once you become a carer. makes a difference, improves lives and helps support individuality, by no means misjudging the value of what you do and the positive influence you can have on someone’s life.

I’m so proud of our Choices Homecare (formally Mayday and part of the Optimo Care Group) family, together we can accomplish so much.
