I was trying to contact Abbots Care, the social worker left me with the situation I had not been able to sort out. The social worker, whose client is a wheelchair user and below knee amputee. They want to start when he had a doctor's appointment for dressings and it's not just Abbots Care that won't
let him go to the doctor's appointment, it was also the social worker when the carers did not come. The social worker didn't sort out the problem when they were supposed to give out my phone number without letting me know they were going to call me. I wanted them to start on Monday. I was left to deal with it every time you try to talk to them. They don't understand any explanations and every time you try to explain the situation he needs to go to medical appointments, he is diabetic. They won't let him go and he cannot communicate with me either my brother, or with the carers to explain it. With Abbots Care anything with more than 5 words or syllables, they are clueless.

Abbotts gave us helpful support at the beginning of the year and has continued to be flexible with needs and times when suitable. All their carers are friendly and efficient in giving reports and electronic app keeps me up to date as l live on the other side of London and Abbotts support me too.

I found myself having to arrange live-in care for my elderly father at short notice. I wasn't sure where to start, so turned to Abbots Care, who had provided reablement care after a previous hospital discharge.
They quickly understood the situation and advised that live-in care for 2-3 weeks was the
best option and what the cost would be. The assessor came to the hospital the next day and within the next 2 days, they had found a lovely carer who could start on the day of discharge.
My father and his carer get on well together. She's caring, cheerful and respectful and within 24 hours I felt confident that my father was in good hands. We have decided to extend the care until my father's mobility improves.
Everyone at Abbots Care that I have spoken to, on the phone or face to face, has been helpful and supportive. Arranging care for a loved one can be very stressful and they have made the process stress-free. I also believe their fees are very competitive.

Reply from Vicki, Marketing Manager at Abbots Care Ltd (Hertfordshire)

Thank you for your kind review. It's heartwarming to know that we could support your family during a challenging time by meeting your father's needs and enabling his return home from the hospital. We always strive to match our clients with the most suitable live-in care workers because we understand how vital this is, not only for the client but also for their family.

Abbots responded very quickly to an urgent need for nighttime care for my mother - requested in the afternoon and in place that same night. Admin had to be a bit rushed but Abbots were very flexible and helpful in tying up loose ends subsequently. Mother also receiving 4 daytime visits following hospital
discharge. Nearly all the carers have been excellent and living up to the title of 'carer' - just one or two carers not quite reaching that level but Mum is always safe and looked after. Customer service was very good with helpful responses to our queries and comments. The app is very helpful - enables us to see the carers' reports after every visit and to see upcoming visits. All in all, we're very pleased with the service Abbots are providing and would recommend them.

Reply from Vicki, Marketing Assistant at Abbots Care Ltd (Hertfordshire)

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're delighted to hear that our service and care are meeting your expectations. Very impressive service and addressed our ever-changing requirements with excellent efficiency. We even changed requirements twice in a week and Abbotts were very accommodating with no fuss or bother. Abbots are always responsive to calls, texts and email communications. Invoicing/payments are accurate.
There is an app to remotely check on daily visits as carers provide a brief and clear report after each visit. My mother likes the carers and often says how lovely they are. Excellent all-around care that I would recommend.

Seeing me now compared to the state I was in a month ago, is testimony to the dedication, hard work, and expertise of your carers - they've in effect given me my life back and I'm very grateful to them - especially those who kept me going and gave me a positive attitude in hope in the early days. They
are too numerous to mention though 6 of them in particular stand out, apologies to all those I've missed out.

This service is all about the money, not the client. My mother’s care has been shocking, she has been treated as a child. She is very intelligent and alert, but put to bed at 6.30pm and not got up until 9am. With pressure sores and diabetes, this is negligence. My mum has to eat at night to take her
diabetic medication and 14+ hours in bed is unacceptable.
Not once were her wishes or needs considered or listened to.
Every other country looks after their vulnerable and elderly people. Not Great Britain, it is all about how this service can make money. The care has gone out of this limited company, it is now just Abbots Care Ltd.
I thought that every care package was ‘person-centred care.’ This one is definitely not, it’s all about in and out in 15 minutes and then onto the next house.
A carer tried to show my daughter how to change the catheter bag and to dispense medication as they were short-staffed. You take on the contract, you should have a plan in place for staff absences. Shocking behaviour!

Thank you for your feedback, we are truly sorry and disappointed to hear that your experience with Abbots Care has not been at the standard expected. We are committed to resolving any issues our Clients have with our services and would like to discuss your concerns further. Our initial assumption is that your mother was on our re-enablement pathway where times of visits are non time specific, however we can review each package and if needed move to another pathway. Please contact us so we can look into the matter further.

Abbotts Care had the perfect service for my nan and made her feel at ease and comfortable. Always responsive and attentive. My nan who spoke little English was made to feel comfortable at each visit and thought a lot of the carers that were allocated to her. Our family couldn't be happier with the service
provided, thank you so much. We would recommend Abbotts to anyone looking for a reliable, caring service for their loved ones.

Left a shocking review on another platform a few months ago and, instead of improving their services or even having the decency to reply to my emails or countless phone calls (approximately 10 in 4 days) everything has gone downhill. My husband is a complex care individual but they keep sending in inexperienced
carers and domiciliaries with no training, no proactivity and not even basic common sense. One carer put soiled clothing in the tumble dryer instead of putting it into soak with disinfectant! Others have had the very basic training (3 days on video). So far, I believe we have had in at least 10 carers and more than 20 domiciliaries. After the last complaint, nothing was forthcoming in the promised 3 days and, even though I contacted Abbots direct to raise concern, I was given someone who should have been my point of contact who has neither had the decency to respond to my email of 5 days ago, nor my countless, time-wasting phone calls. An absolute disgrace to the ‘caring’ profession.

Reply from Abbots Care Marketing, Marketing Assistant at Abbots Care Ltd (Hertfordshire)

Thank you for your feedback regarding our care service. We would like to clarify and respectfully address your assertions. It's important to note, that we have indeed promptly addressed your concerns through our complaints process, ensuring appropriate actions to meet your husband's needs. Contrary to your statement our training is not a 3-day video programme. Our Care Workers undergoing a rigorous induction, including 5 days of classroom-based training and ongoing community-based onboarding. Competencies are assessed in real-world settings to ensure high quality care. We have actively participated in Multidisciplinary Team meetings to tailor your husband's care plans and manage your expectations. Therefore, we are disappointed by your review and have reached out to discuss further. Your feedback is valued, and we're committed to providing the highest standard of care.

Excellent team of people. I have been with them since I came out of hospital in June. I am so grateful for everything they do. I see different people each day. I would like two continuous carers which I have asked to put in place. Still waiting because of my anxiety and two certain ones know me best
and my routine, needs and mobility. So kind and caring. I have them twice a day. I could not do without them. Can't thank them enough. When I call they are helpful. Always put me at ease.

Was given this care company by adult social care. Generally, some carers are good, others have no idea and can't be bothered. We were given set times for visits and so far not kept to, they think it is okay to give the service user lunch at 2pm then dinner at 4.30 and bedtime 8.30 leaving them with
no food or drink for 12 hours until the morning carer visits. When I complain the management don't follow it up. Some carers think it's okay to help themselves to the service user's food as they know the service user isn't mobile at the moment but the family have noticed.

Reply from Abbots Care, Marketing Manager at Abbots Care Ltd (Hertfordshire)

We are extremely sorry and disappointed that you've had cause to complain about our service. We aim to provide the best care possible to those we support and take all feedback and complaints seriously. As you are aware we have been in contact with you and we have fully investigated the matter regarding the issues raised. A visit from a Community Facilitator was promptly arranged where the care plan was reviewed, and observations were carried out with the Care Workers. Our Community Facilitator has continued to visit and monitor the concerns and we believed you were satisfied with the actions being taken. If you would like to discuss the matter further, please do let us know. Once again, we are sorry to hear of your complaint and would like to reassure you that it does not reflect the service for which we are known or strive to achieve.

So many different careers (of which only a few who were very good) so don’t get to know
patients and their needs properly, also was advised to do own medication which was muddled in
his last week before he died. Took three weeks to have the kitchen trolley and bath board fitted
which I collected
myself. On 19th January 2023, my son passed away in his sleep found by the morning carer.
To date, not one word of condolence from this couldn’t care less company. I do hope the
carer who found my son got more support and consideration but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Reply from Naomi, Marketing at Abbots Care Ltd (Hertfordshire)

We send our heartfelt condolences to you following the passing of your loved one and we are sorry that you have had cause to raise an issue at this difficult time.
Please be assured that a next of kin was contacted and offered condolences at the time. Unfortunately, we did not have your contact details listed as next of kin on our records to offer this. Please also know that we offer full support to all our staff in such sad circumstances both in person and via telephone calls.
We take all feedback seriously and would like the opportunity to offer our condolences to you via the telephone. We'd also like to explain the care we provided as part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and how we followed a care plan following hospital discharge which includes medication management and the needs of the individual. If this is something you are willing to do, please do reach out when you’re ready to info@abbotscare.com
Once again, please accept our deepest sympathies.
