At Betamindes, staff are fully committed to supporting your independence, whether in your own home, out and about or here at the Day Centre.

It is committed to providing the highest quality care service throughout the Cheshire area including Nantwich, Crewe, Shavington, Wistaston, Wybunbury, Haslington and Sandbach.

The services include the provision of community home care and respite care services facilitated in the day centre.

At Betamindes, staff work collaboratively with other health providers to deliver a person-centred, holistic service to the individuals supported.

The CQC inspection in 2019 rated Betamindes as Good overall and they are constantly striving to improve. Staff actively encourage feedback from all the stakeholders involved in the delivery of support services and endeavour to provide a reactive response as part of their promise.

Staff know that the transition from living independently to requiring support can be overwhelming. Staff are here to offer expertise and support throughout the journey and advocate working in the best interests of those who use the services.

The Betamindes culture promotes richness, meaningfulness and engagement for those who are supported. When my mum needed more care than I could give her and I was getting to feel that I was unable to cope 24/5, the best thing I did was to enquire if Betamindes could help. The whole team were so helpful and supportive to my mum and myself, they are very kind and patient. My mum really enjoys the daycare
centre twice a week and likes the carers on a Sunday. I am so thankful to have them as my mum declines.

Mum goes to Betamindes twice a week, she looks forward to the club every week and is buzzing every time she gets home. She has made lots of friends and enjoys all the activities and thinks the food is lovely, she said it's a wonderful place to meet her friends. The change in mum is amazing 5 stars out
of 5 stars. The staff are helpful and friendly to both mum and the family.

My husband spent 2 or 3 days at Betamindes from time to time. He was mainly cared for by myself and our son but when holidays intervened we booked him in as necessary. Even though visits were not regular he was met with recognition and made to feel important and welcome. Following his death, I received
a very understanding card and copies of photos we were able to use amongst other memories at his funeral.

The care provided by Betaminde carers enabled me to keep my wife at home in the same environment, not in a care home. This gave me some ME time. The staff were always punctual if they were to be delayed I was informed. At all times the staff worked for my wife and gave me peace of mind.

After an introductory visit by both of us, my husband has attended twice a week. He is picked up and brought home by the kindest, most helpful driver who assists him to and from the car. My husband looks forward to going to Betaminds, enjoys it and comes home healthily tired. He enjoys the activities
and company, and a change from being at home. All the staff are very kind and helpful and encourage him to be as independent as possible.

My mum goes to Betamindes four days a week, and really loves it. She calls it her club and gets so excited when she knows it's her days there. The staff are kind, caring and can't do enough to make everyone so welcome. They really look after Mum, and I have no worries at all, so I go to work in all
confidence that Mum is being well looked after. She also has one of the carers bring her home and stay with her till 5 pm, so she is on her own for the least time possible, and they are very good, patient and kind to her. I wouldn't put my mum anywhere but at Betaminders. Even the office staff are lovely, good and helpful. Such peace of mind for me.

Before my dad went into a care home recently he used Betamindes for about 4 years. I cannot praise them enough they were absolutely brilliant, nothing was too much trouble for them. It is a testament to them that we were able to live in his own home for so long.

Most friendly and obliging care company I spoke to. They provided the amount of care I required at a reasonable rate. The representative visited to explain the details of the company. and took the full medical history of my husband. Program of planned visits with names of carer issued the same day.
All carers have been very caring and friendly. Bravo!

Good reliable company but does have staff issues. Continuity is the biggest problem. As a client, regular carers are most important because a routine is established with the patient.

1) Certain management lack inspiration/confidence, don't seem to have hands-on regarding forward projection or indeed internal administration, also clients needs/records etc.


2) In structure correct to meet future needs/services.


3) Initially ok with senior staff, an open yearly meeting to cover

planning with targets of objectives, etc.


4) Daily care staff to be fully trained in all aspects of clients' needs (health problems, disability, food hygiene, cooking.) Also, respect of any clients equipment.


5) The importance of personal hygiene, providing meals and also advice (various needs) of GP service.


6) Project with quality/services is the essence of achievement!

My wife who is bedridden and suffering from advanced dementia causing memory loss, she is treated with the utmost dignity and professional care from her carers with her personal hygiene and food and drink intake.
Nice to hear the occasional chatter with the carers, even though difficult to understand
but the occasional smile says it all and makes their visits so important and worthwhile.

Could not have a better care team, nothing was too much trouble. All carers were superb, and we could not have coped without them. They coped very well with all the ups and downs of a very awkward elderly man.

My husband has been attending Betamindes day service for the last 6 months. He really looks forward to going and the environment is very homely and welcoming. The activities are paced through the day and the group setting provides stimulation that I often find hard to replicate at home particularly
in current times. I have also found them very supportive to me and the two days I get to myself every week are a lifesaver.

Mum has been visiting Betamindes daycare once a week since 2013. She is a solitary person and they have accommodated her needs remarkably well. Both staff and management are always very welcoming and helpful. Everyone has adapted well to recent changes over the past months and have implemented safety
procedures within the business to safeguard their clients in these difficult times. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care provider.

I have complete trust in the carers who look after my Uncle. I know if there are any issues or concerns they will be brought to my attention. Whenever I see the interaction between the carers and my Uncle, he is treated with respect and humour. My uncle responds positively to this despite his dementia.

Just wanted to to say that my father has been attending Betamindes Daycare Centre for a year now (minus a short break during Covid) and absolutely loves it. He spends five full days and he couldn't be in better hands. The manager and her wonderful team always go that extra mile with each and every
client. They individually respond to their specific needs and are attentive, friendly and above all caring. They have been supportive of the family in providing us with regular updates on Dad's time with them and I would not hesitate in recommending them for their amazing dementia care service. The food, activities, cleanliness and attention to personal needs are faultless at the Betamindes bungalow. Thank you, everyone.

Put simply Dad loves everything about club! It's become his sole focus and life thanks to the team at Betamindes. They love his jovial and mischievous ways and certainly have the measure of him. We know he's brilliantly cared for with a fun-packed day of activity and great food. The team go the extra
mile for us with their regular updates via email or Facebook. Dad's no good with technology so the team keep him in touch with the extended family by encouraging notes that can be scanned and sent electronically. It's a great service, which we rely 100% upon. Thanks so much and all the best to you all at Betamindes.

Ian Cowley

Ian is from the local area and has been in business since the age of 23. He ran a successful joinery/carpentry business for 25 years before setting up Betamindes in 2005 with his wife Dawne. Ian has a personal interest and experience of looking after family members with different types of dementia and has used this extensive knowledge to create the quality service provided today.

Today we are determined to stick to our principles and believe that everyone is entitled to the care package of their choice and Betamindes will be there to support our clients to make the process as seamless as possible’

Dawne Cowley

Joined: 2005

Dawne worked within the NHS as a Registered Mental Nurse from 1985 – 2006, gaining vast knowledge and experience in the psychiatric arena before moving specifically into Dementia care in the late 1990s.


Dawne set up and managed day care centres in joint ventures with the NHS and Social Services in the West Midlands and South Cheshire area before launching Betamindes in 2005 as a family run business in her local area of Wistaston.

Annette McDougall

Job Title: Operations Manager

Joined: 2023

I have worked within the Care industry for over 20 years starting as a care worker for several years and working my way up the managerial ladder to a Registered Care Manager's role.


My passion for care began at a young age when, unfortunately, my late Grandma fell ill with Dementia, and she had to move in with my parents and me. I started to care for her while both my parents went out to work. I soon realised that the passion I had for care would turn out to be a profession.


Throughout my caring profession, I have worked with clients with Challenging Behaviour, Learning Disabilities, Dementia, and Mental Health not just within the community but also within a residential setting.


Since becoming a Registered Manager in 2014, I have managed to win the Registered Managers award for the Northwest at the Great British Care Awards in 2016. I was honoured to also win the Registered Manager Award 2018 for the West Midlands and for Cheshire East with the Great British Care Awards which was a very proud achievement.


I enjoy Gardening and spending time with my family. I enjoy travelling and socializing with my friends. I also spend a lot of time with my Parents, we enjoy shopping and eating out together. I take them out at the weekend which keeps them active.


I have a dog called Milo who is only a puppy, so he keeps me on my toes.

Lauren McDougall

I have worked within the care sector since leaving school, I started as a business administrator, in a domiciliary care company, making my way up to be the care coordinator. I have also worked within a dementia care home and a medical oxygen company, so I have a lot of knowledge in different areas of care which will be helpful in my role as Care Administrator. I take pride in my work and like to feel I am making a difference in someone’s life. I came into the care sector as this is something that I am passionate about. A care background is something that is in my family which led me to want to make a career in the care sector.
Outside of my working life, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, I love cooking, nail art and having a laugh with people and try to always look on the bright side of life.


Amanda

Amanda Dykes

Job Title: Care Field Supervisor

Joined: 2024

I grew up locally.


I have had a varied career so far in my working life. I started with being a supermarket manager for 10 years, then I enjoyed care work for a while, and then I became a fully qualified pharmacy dispenser.


I am now enjoying my new position with Betamindes as a Care Field Supervisor.


Outside of work, I have 3 children and a Grandaughter.


Family is very important to me and I recently relocated back to the Crewe area from Suffolk to be closer to my mum who needs support due to her having dementia.


I am very active and have done Taekwondo for 3 1/2 years and I am also a member of the GTUK England squad, most recently winning Gold medals in the European Championships in 2024.


I find doing Martial Arts gives me confidence and a determined mindset.

Claire Corbett

Job Title: Care Field Supervisor

I have been working in the care sector for over 4 years. Before that, I worked in Education.


I enjoy working in the care industry and I get a lot of job satisfaction out of knowing I can make a difference in someone's life and also play a small part in combating issues such as loneliness and
isolation.


Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, my husband, children and grandchildren.
To relax I enjoy crafts such as knitting, crochet and art. However, I am always happiest when I am sitting on a beach in the sunshine.
