Thanks to the exceptional care from everyone at Bluebird, my friend was able to stay in her own home for several years. This meant such a lot to her.
Her carers were always so kind and friendly, and all her needs were met - above all expectations on more than one occasion when she'd had to attend A&E,
for which we were very grateful.
She liked her routine and always looked forward to her carer visits. She always spoke very highly of everyone. She's recently moved into residential care, which would have been much sooner without the excellent care from Bluebird.
Our sincere thanks to everyone there.

Mum's carers are wonderful. They treat her kindly and with respect. Their attention to all details concerning her care is excellent. They are warm and friendly. They feel like part of Mum's family. She looks forward to their visits, as do I. Mum and I would be lost without them.

Arrival times of late, due to holidays, sickness and shortness of staff, have been somewhat chaotic. The staff are all excellent.

I cared for my 93-year-old mum at her home for the last two years of her life. I was exhausted and her mobility and dementia were getting worse. Bluebird Care came to visit and was open to any kind of help I requested. I can honestly say that the Bluebird carers' visits were a delight for Mum and a
great support for me. They managed to arrange the same delightful carer every week for Mum's last months. She was experienced, sweet and her work was obviously a vocation. She gave Mum back the fun and chat that I was too tired to do. Gentle, respectful bedbaths, bed changes and lots more. Just fantastic! The agency is also flexible and I could arrange an afternoon out for myself.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Annie. It was a pleasure to care for your loved one. We pride ourselves on being able to go above and beyond for our customers and their families. I have passed your feedback on to the carer your mother had also and to the team.

Professional caring service thorough and reliable. Carers were happy to sit and chat with Mum never pushing her to eat if she said no. Great communication with the family. Initial visit was carried out with respect but was very informative and thorough in its information gathering. All be it the service
was not required for very long, it was invaluable.

The carers at Bluebird Shropshire are kind, helpful and give my sister confidence as she suffers from anxiety. Nothing too much trouble. The office staff are also helpful, especially The co-ordinators.
Help and support given to me, as I live some distance away from my sister, is very reassuring.

We have been absolutely delighted with the service we have received from Bluebird. The carers are all efficient, friendly and very caring, both with my terminally ill husband and myself and when I have needed to phone the office, the way my calls have been dealt with has always been very quickly, professionally
and again, in a friendly manner.
We don't know how much further care my husband will need but we have been so comforted by the understanding and reassurances by members of staff that anything we need can be provided. My husband was initially reluctant to accept care, but he has been totally won over.

The care needs of my 88-year-old mother escalated until a family and friends' care rota was just not enough, and we used the 24-hour care package from Bluebird. A hardworking and extremely kind lady arrived with an enormously heavy suitcase! She bonded quickly with my mother, so important when a fiercely
independent person can no longer cope. We are so grateful for her unstinting efforts. Sadly, my mother moved beyond what one person could do, we moved her into institutional care, and she died shortly after. The whole family remains deeply grateful to the carer for her efforts. We so wished Mum could pass away at home, but it was not to be. The care home was sadly the answer for her last few days; their immediate access to medical help and ability to suddenly field several staff members was indeed required. We lost Mum peacefully a few days after she transferred. If you want kindly, tactile and very capable help we recommend Mum's carer if Bluebird offer her.

It has been useful to have this review which has given me a chance to meet with Bluebird management and they with me. In old age, things are constantly changing relating to health and disability, pain, and physical and social needs. In fact, needs may change again as soon as tomorrow, however, it was
useful to review with your representative today and to feel supported by the organisation and care options.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.828 for Bluebird Care Shropshire is calculated as follows: ( (50 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.828

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Bluebird Care Shropshire is based on 9 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 4.9

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Owner

I started Bluebird Care Shropshire in 2009 having left my employment as Managing Director of a successful chain of Garden Centres shortly before. At that time I felt that my commercial skills and experience were well suited to the Bluebird Care franchise model and decided to be my own boss for the first time. It was a big step for me and a bit scary, but I was confident that I could make a difference in the Care Sector and wanted us to be the best in the county.

I had recently been very poorly myself having had kidney failure over a number of years and then needed a kidney transplant in 2007. My sister very kindly gave me one of hers, it is still going strong so must have been a good one!! I will always be very grateful to her for giving me such a precious gift, but also to the numerous people in the NHS and the care sector who helped me when I needed it. To be honest that care has never stopped and continues today.

So in starting Bluebird Care Shropshire I had an opportunity to repay some of the help and kindness that I was shown and set out to provide a high standard of care to the people of Shropshire who needed it. It was my chance to give something back. Through Bluebird Care, I am passionate about providing excellent care and that passion has not diminished over the years.

The culture of my business is about delivering excellent care to people in their own homes and going the extra mile for the people we support. A culture that is shared by the senior team in Shrewsbury and Oswestry and filters down to all of our care staff. That has enabled us to grow our service rapidly over the last 10 years. We have established a good reputation and work hard to maintain it. We are not perfect and things do go wrong from time to time, but we try hard to improve and learn. I am proud of what we have achieved together and look forwards to the next 10 years.

I have lived in Shropshire with my wife Rosanna for the last 28 years, raising our 2 young children here. They are both grown now: Gemma is a qualified Social Worker and manager with Action for Children and is mum to my two granddaughters Mia & Evie; Chris works in Bluebird Care managing our payroll and has recently started his own property development business.

I am a keen golfer and play at Church Stretton most weeks weather permitting and I enjoy spending time with my two granddaughters.

I have been working in the care sector since 2010. My journey started in domiciliary care and continued into residential and nursing homes, hospitals and one-to-one support packages working with challenging behaviour and brain injury.

My passion continued to be in domiciliary care so in August 2014 I applied for a position as a care worker for Bluebird Care. In December 2014 I was promoted to a care supervisor and completed my NVQ level 3 in Health and Social care.

My role is mainly customer focussed however I also support new staff in their 12-week probation period. I complete supervision and observations weekly to support them to complete their care certificate. The areas I supervise include Church Stretton, Bayston Hill, Meole Brace, Hanwood and Ford. I complete reviews and reassessments of current customers. I also support customers with daily challenges they face such as ordering their medication or being unwell and needing a doctor's visit.
