Christies Care provides outstanding, personalised homecare in East Suffolk and live-in care right across England. Rated 'Outstanding' by CQC twice in a row (July 2019, December 2016), it has been owned and run by the same local family since 1991.

Christies Care has grown solely through word of mouth recommendations. Its clients are delighted by the fact that carers proactively help people to live as independently as possible, at home. Its clients therefore actively recommend the company to others.

Also, Christies Care's carers actively recommend their friends as carers; about 60% of all of its carers come through word of mouth recommendation from existing carers.

Christies Care invests in award-winning carer training and recruitment. This rigorous process means that the company selects only the best carer candidates. Because Christies Care has such well-trained and selected carers, they get on well with their clients and do an outstanding job.

Mum has now had three live-in carers over Jan/Feb from Christies Care, and both Mum and our family have been very pleased with all of them. These three will be the basis of her care team, and they all show a great understanding of Mum's dementia care needs. Mum is in the early stages, so we are pleased
that they engage her in activities and games and take her out for a daily walk - weather permitting!
They seem to allow her to do things around the home that she still enjoys, like some cooking but is tuned in to when she is getting tired and know when to step in, which I am pleased about.
When we have passed on any comments or feedback from Mum or ourselves, Christies Care has been quick to pass on our comments to the carers, and we've been impressed with Christies support and professionalism.
As the lockdown eases and summer comes along, we look forward to the carers taking Mum on a few trips to the shops and beyond.
So far, after two months, we are very happy and Mum seems to be too.

Thank you very much for the review. I am particularly glad that the carers can take your mother out for her daily walk - as a keen walker myself, I know how important it is for both mind and body.

I can’t fault the care, attention and time that Christies Care Care Coordinators put into finding the right carers for my dear 95-year-old friend. She has no family in the UK, and so the “fit” between her and her carers is very important. My views and that of the client herself have been sought before
after each new carer, and the return carers are only those that are most appropriate. My impression is that the views of the carers themselves are also taken into account to ensure the most suitable outcome for all is achieved. I have become more confident in giving my honest views to Christies because I know that all feedback is viewed as constructive and is incorporated in any relevant decision making. There have certainly been challenges and difficulties, but these have been overcome in partnership. Christies really does seem to put the needs and wishes of the person being cared for at the centre of it all. Just as it should be.

Reply from Freddy Gathorne-Hardy, Managing Director at Christies Care Ltd

Thank you very much for this review. I am particularly glad to read about how the team and you have a partnership to overcome the inevitable challenges - I've always found it makes a huge difference.

Christies Care have been extremely professional and before commencing care, completed an in-depth consultation about needs and they sought to get a very thorough understanding about exactly what was needed. The team in Saxmundham were very friendly, responsive and made the process very easy to navigate.
The carer they matched is superb and my parents are extremely happy with the care they are receiving.

I've been a client of Christies for about ten years and I'm very grateful for their level of help and advice. I'm able to feel and be as independent as possible while having 24hr live-in care. I think fair to say I'm younger than most clients receiving care, so Christies do all they can to find carers
of a similar age and personality to myself, of which I'm very grateful. I also think the training provided to carers is of high standard, they're knowledgeable yet understanding of my personal needs which I also appreciate.

I can't speak highly enough of the care my father received from Christies and of the courtesy and kindness extended to me when he became ill.
They were able to find a live-in carer at very short notice and kept in regular contact with me regarding his care. All his carers were patient, thoughtful and
kind and enabled him to stay in his own home where he wanted to be. When he became very ill and needed more care, Christies went above and beyond to provide this, again at very short notice. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

We have, so far, employed three carers in sequence to provide constant care (24/7) for my wife (who has had Parkinson's since 2012) and also some care for me (because I am currently recovering from a broken femur). All three have been most gentle when attending to my wife, helpful around the house,
produce good tasty meals and are helpful and try to anticipate our wishes/needs.

In the last four months, Christies Care have provided professional and proactive support from the initial customer contact, through to the ongoing provision and scheduling of 24/7 live-in care. The level of personal care has been of a high standard and the carers have been diligent, empathetic and sensitive
to the needs of the client. The management support team have always been readily available, helpful and timely in their interactions and responses. Based upon our experiences, I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the company for the live-in care services they provide.

We have had two carers from Christies Care, both of whom have been nice people to have living in our house. They have been very caring, helpful and consistently cheerful during the difficult days of lockdown. Without complaint and, indeed, without being asked, they have gone beyond their job description
to do housekeeping work which, in normal times our cleaner would do.
Nothing is too much trouble and they have largely become members of our family while they are with us.

I have found that any queries/problems I have had, have been dealt with most efficiently by the office staff. The only thing that I find annoying is the attachments to emails, which turn out to be a Facebook image etc., could they not be embedded in the email?
It has taken us four carers to find the
right person for my Mother, I understand that you cannot always get it right first time. But all have been very efficient and proactive. Very pleased with their service even if personality-wise they haven't all clicked with Mother.

This company and it's staff are outrageously lovely, kind and efficient. The manager even offered to take my dad his lunch on Christmas Day! It would seem nothing is too much trouble for them and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for either daycare or live-in care. Thank you very,
very much.

The management team were very helpful in collecting information in order to provide a good care plan and suitable carers for my Mum. Their back up and reviews to check that all was going well was good. I would recommend Christie's to anyone looking for live-in care.

From the initial telephone call, Christies Care was helpful, friendly and efficient. Our carer had just completed the company course (which she described as excellent) so was very up-to-date. She was just the right person to look after my elderly sister who has dementia. She was well organised and unphased
by the unexpected (eg no water for 2 days). While she was quiet and self-contained she was kind with a good sense of humour. I had complete faith in her ability to cope.

Considering the difficulties caused by Coronavirus and travel restrictions, I have been extremely impressed by the ability of Christies Care to send me well qualified and delightfully pleasant people to us as carers. Your training programme is obviously excellent, much better than can be found usually
elsewhere Dealing with dementia is always difficult, and your carers have been unfailingly kind, competent and most fitting in well with our household, which can be a difficult art. Your arrangements for time-off work well, and your carers help efficiently and well with many of the problems of wider care within the household, e.g. cooking, clothes washing, etc.
While the quality of the carers that we have been sent so far has been very high, getting to know somebody new, and for them to get to know us, is inevitably difficult at the start, with learning problems on both sides. So we do look forward to having a more regular line-up of carers whom we have already come to know.

Thank you for such a detailed review: we have had inevitable challenges with Coronavirus, but the operations our office and training team have had to adapt have been impressive resulting in a seamless service to both our clients and our carers. Wonderful feedback, it was good of you to take the time to review us.

My husband has progressive MS, and Christies Care has been providing us with excellent live-in respite care for the last 4 years. The carers are very well trained, and everyone who has looked after him has been kind and compassionate. I have no hesitation in recommending Christies Care to anyone who
needs live-in care, whether for respite or continuous.

Christies Care made me feel comfortable from the beginning. They keep in regular touch and I am able to telephone them at any time.
The carer they sent to us in September was a lovely personality, caring, methodical and a good cook. We were very glad to have her back.
Christies is embarking on
an upgrade to their communication system, which is already very good.
We have met two of their local support representatives, both competent with experience in the field.
We have already had the experience of two other agencies, neither of which fulfilled our needs. We are glad we changed to Christies Care.

A lovely 'top marks' review, thank you so much. We are so pleased that you liked our carers. Our communication system is about to undergo some big changes, and we are looking forward to a more efficient way of communicating between client, family members, carers and the office.

Had the most amazing carer allocated to my Mum. Honestly could not speak highly enough of her. She had great compassion and was lovely with Mum and the whole family. Sadly she was only there for two weeks as Mum passed away which was unexpected. The company I have found to be very professional and informative.
I would highly recommend Christie’s Care to anyone and so grateful that we got Mum home from the hospital so she could be with us all.

The carers are fantastic - they have improved my dad's health and helped him get better in so many ways- we can't thank them enough.
We couldn't imagine life without Christies now and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Everyone cares so much about the job they do-making sure clients are well looked
after- and very importantly, making sure that carers are well looked after too which is a priority for us.

Our mother received excellent care from her lovely Christie’s carer. She was very attentive to Mum’s complex needs whilst being able to maintain a calm, supportive attitude. She has a good sense of humour and was able to chat to Mum and keep her company. She is organised, professional, well trained,
experienced and confident. She was able to manage tasks around medical care such as contacting the GP, District Nurse and Pharmacy on Mum's behalf. Her carer kept the house clean and tidy. She also kept me informed of any significant events. I consider her a safe pair of hands. We are very grateful to her and to Christie’s for providing Mum with such a good, caring and personalised service.
