Christies Care provides outstanding, personalised homecare in East Suffolk and live-in care right across England. Rated 'Outstanding' by CQC twice in a row (July 2019, December 2016), it has been owned and run by the same local family since 1991.

Christies Care has grown solely through word of mouth recommendations. Its clients are delighted by the fact that carers proactively help people to live as independently as possible, at home. Its clients therefore actively recommend the company to others.

Also, Christies Care's carers actively recommend their friends as carers; about 60% of all of its carers come through word of mouth recommendation from existing carers.

Christies Care invests in award-winning carer training and recruitment. This rigorous process means that the company selects only the best carer candidates. Because Christies Care has such well-trained and selected carers, they get on well with their clients and do an outstanding job.

The office staff provide a good service, they are always there to help and resolve situations.
The carers can be very varied in experience and expectations and it can be difficult to find suitable ladies to care for my sister. Overall the choice of carers has been average to good.
It would be good
to have a regular rota. I appreciate that it is difficult when it is the carer who decides when they want to work and control is taken away from Christie's but there are times when it just doesn't work. To be able to plan a holiday in advance would be great but it just isn't possible on these terms.

A few initial 'blips' but now in a pattern with two lovely ADC's/PA's/Batmen - we don't use the 'carer' word, not a description that is liked by my dad who at 91. He still feels he copes pretty well. Although...

In the eighteen years that I have been on a social care package, Christies Care Ltd have been the best agency that have worked with me.
They have a diverse network of carers, each bringing their own skills and personalities.
It is also the only agency that I have been involved with that have allowed
me to choose my own carers.

The level of care provided has been excellent. Each carer has been kind, considerate and very competent with regards to Mum's care needs. The agency has listened to Mum's requests as to the type of person she would like to care for her, and in most cases this has been adhered to. Mum has got on better
with some carers than others, but this is only to be expected and relates to differences in personality. In terms of the personal care provided, I believe each carer has provided excellent care. The agency has been very responsive in addressing any concerns or queries I have had.

The two carers you supply alternately are absolutely fantastic. Very different from each other but both first rate in their care.
Nobody could ask for more. Unfortunately, the quality of this sort of care comes at a price more than most people can afford, so those that can are extremely lucky.

The standard of the carers is very variable.
We have had some very good ones, some very poor ones and some of a dubious character.
Christies in most cases fails to acknowledge this and gives the same old blah blah answer of "all of our carers are highly trained and experienced" which is most obviously
not always the case.
Whilst I believe Christies do their best it is obvious they struggle to find staff who have the motivation and/or skillset to do this job.
Considering the amount they charge it is not good value for money but given the poor choices for care in the UK we are stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea.
The marks below are the average because as stated some carers are great, but the standard is very inconsistent.

We have been very impressed with your company and the care and support offered to my Mother on the two occasions we have had live-in carers for her. We hope to book a carer from your company again in the New Year.

By their nature, these forms tend to be very prescriptive. We have had first class carers, good carers, average carers and poor carers. Examples of poor carers are a few who could not cope with the job and wished to leave, to someone who was drinking alcohol, to someone who went to her room to smoke
quite often when on duty and ignored a client who needed her.
This clearly does not apply to just one month, but I had to put a month in above (November 2018).

The overall service is excellent but is let down due to the non-availability of the same carers.
The constant stream of strangers is not good but some fantastic carers have been found this way. However, their availability becomes limited.

Christies have been providing a live-in carer for my elderly mother for more than a year now and we are very impressed with the service. The carers who come are friendly and efficient and have that perfect knack of respecting and encouraging mum’s independence whilst at the same time helping her as
necessary. It is such a relief to know that mum is happy and so well cared for.

My mother has been cared for by Christies carers for over 2 years. Christies management is very thorough and communication is good and understanding. The carers have all been well trained and try to make my mother's life as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately so far we only have one regular carer
and we were hoping to have a rota of three regular carers by this time, however, in the last six months my mother has had 8 different carers and only one would she not welcome back again. I understand the rotas must be extremely difficult to organise because several carers are only in this country a few months of the year.
My mother's health has deteriorated over this time and both the carers and Area Manager were very helpful with suggestions of equipment which might help my mother's mobility.
Some carers are better than others about stimulating my mother e.g. taking her out in her wheelchair or helping her to bake and Mum thinks many of the carers need more tuition in old-fashioned cooking.

Christies Care have managed my mother’s dementia care for the past six years and we are very happy with them. We’ve met some amazing carers in this time and have always been confident she’s in the best hands.

Great service and made all the better recently by regularly rotating Mum's carers. Going through a heck of a lot myself at present, whilst my own County Council seem to be planning to remove all of my Mum's care package and let her and myself suffer.
However, the staff I have met through Christies
are highly competent, friendly and professional. I'm not worried about my mum's level of care whilst Christies provide it. She has complex needs and I'm so thankful to Christies for looking after her so well and for so long. I WISH MORE THAN ANYTHING THAT IT CONTINUES.

Regular carers are excellent but I am unconvinced that sufficient effort is put into ensuring the regulars attend as often as possible with the result that we are apparently now faced with a series of new faces. Although a carer schedule for most of 2018 was provided early in the year this has not been
forthcoming for future months which is disappointing.

Carers are extremely well trained and very caring and competent. They have tried to stimulate Dad and are very patient. They treat Dad and the family with respect and are very pro-active in trying to improve his life. We have only had three so far - two, we would be happy to return, one, we have requested
does not, because Dad did not get on with her. It is still early days, but one problem seems to be a lack of drivers, which is important to us. We have also found that though our care team at Head Office is very helpful, we have not always had all the information we need. For example, we missed out on an important mailing, for some reason, which caused problems with cover.

Carers are well trained, have support during their assignments and the agency tries to ensure that they are compatible not only with care needs but also personally. Where problems have arisen, the agency has worked hard to resolve them.

We have been using Christies Care Ltd full time since May 2018 and are now settled into a routine of returning carers, which is more settling for the client, although changing carers sometimes after just two weeks can still be unsettling. Christies Care Ltd listened to our concerns when we had a couple
of carers that were not what we expected and they have not returned. The team we have now have got to know my relative and her needs. She is well fed and the help with personal care is good. Obviously, some personalities gel better with her than others in terms of keeping her company and her spirits up. She is also of an older generation who are unused to the multicultural modern world and she finds this difficult from time to time. She is also very deaf and carers have to make a good effort to make themselves understood. Some of the problems we have had are due to my relative's feelings about her loss of independence and mobility, rather than any fault of the carers. Support from Christies Care Ltd office seems good as is the overlap of carers.

The carers for my sister have been exemplary, professional, caring and go out of their way to make sure her multiple needs are paramount. One new, recent carer did prove to be an unsuitable match but Christies Care Ltd handled the situation with tact and sensitivity. In discussion with the other carers
who visit every day, a robust safeguarding procedure is in place which is very reassuring to her family who all live at a far distance away. Christies Care Ltd bookings coordinator is approachable, friendly and responds very promptly.
A very satisfied client and family.

I have been a client of Christies Care Ltd for nearly four years. In that time I've met some lovely carers and the management have always remained friendly and supportive. On the rare occasions that I have not 'clicked' with a carer, the issues raised have been dealt with quickly. I have regular carers
who I look forward to spending more time with.

The Christies Carers have provided excellent care for my Mother over the last 3 years.
They have managed the changes in my mother's condition over time and have adapted to her needs and mental health and will work well with another external care team.
In addition, they cope with occasional disturbed
nights and other difficult times when she has not been well.

Christies Head office has been quick to respond and will support when issues arise.
