Kemble at Home were an enormous help when I came home after surgery and two weeks in hospital. They provided me with personal care, housework, and guidance and advice with my exercises essential to my recovery. The carers were very professional and attentive to my needs, so I would like to say a big
thank you to you all.

We have been very happy with the service that Kemble have provided since my mother suffered a stroke at the end of March. They were very helpful and professional and quickly provided a Carer to look after her full time when she got home from hospital.
The relationship between my mother and her Carer
has been very positive and she has made a good recovery during that time. Having a Carer has been an uplifting experience for her - the companionship has been a real bonus and she has benefitted from being in her home surroundings but with all the pressure of running the home lifted from her. We are very pleased and grateful with the outcome.

The carers who attend my husband for his personal care and general assistance are always cheerful, kind, polite, hard-working and willing to do anything I ask of them, from putting the washing machine on to vacuuming the kitchen. My husband enjoys their visits and company, as indeed do I. They take
a considerable burden off me, and consequently my physical and mental health is improved.

My brother has complex health and social care needs which demand the highest standards of care and in our experience, Kemble at Home does not fall short. The Care Manager for Kemble's West Herefordshire team works with us in an incredibly efficient and committed way to ensure that my brother has a small
team of carers with whom who he gets along and has trust in. The standard of care they provide is high, and we find the service is truly flexible to meet his needs for such things as Doctors appointments etc. Nothing is too much trouble whether it's a short notice change to the rota or a change to the usual activities the Care Manager always deals with such requests professionally and very quickly, we have never been let down. It's just good to know there is someone at the end of the phone who knows my brother very well and will always provide sensible advice and respond to any requests or observations. Very happy with Kemble at Home.

I had multiple visits during the days after breaking one ankle and spraining the other and living in a 3 storey house. I continued with limited visits until a knee operation when they increased again. Now fully mobile I have a visit every 2 weeks to tidy up the house.
All the girls were extremely
pleasant and good with time keeping despite traffic problems in Hereford city.

Kemble have been helping with looking after my mother-in-law since she came out of hospital in November. They were able to provide us with very good care from day one and we can't thank them enough for this. Over the period we had regular carers who came in and they all acted with care and compassion.
I would highly recommend them to anyone in the Hereford area who is looking for care for a loved one from the experience that we have had from the outset.

My grandad has type one diabetes and after a stay in hospital was released back to his home. Due to the family's work commitments, we decided to get some professional care to help with my grandad's needs. Kemble at Home was recommended to us, so we gave them a call and arranged the days and times we
required them to tend to my grandad. From day one we felt we had made the right choice, Kemble at Home's staff made us feel secure in the knowledge that our grandad would be well cared for and he was. The staff were very caring, honest, trustworthy and professional, my grandad thoroughly enjoyed the experience, he and us would recommend Kemble Care to anyone.

My mother has needed care in the home on days when I am unavailable to be with her for over a year now and I am very happy with the service Kemble at Home provide. The members of staff when I have met have always been friendly, diligent, helpful and above all caring towards my mother. Members of the
management team have also been very accommodating whenever I have needed to alter carers visits and have been particularly cooperative and adaptable when I have had occasions to ask them for immediate cover. Kemble at Home provide a professional and reliable service and it's particularly reassuring to read the notes which the carers make during each visit so I can assess my mother's immediate well-being.

I am very satisfied with my care provider. They try to please both client and carer and listen to us so we get the service we hope for. They have had a few difficult months with unexpected staff changes but now seem to be settled with a good team of management and carers.
I ask them for care continuity
and communication. It is very important that clients and carers get on well so it is good that - up to a point - we can choose who comes into my home and deals with our personal care.
It is comforting when timing and carers are regular, otherwise, it can be quite upsetting.
As I get older, I wish for carers who are familiar, with me and my home and routine - so important.

We have the highest praise for Kemble at Home. They have brilliant Carers who really care about mum and who she sees as friends. We receive excellent support from the office, Care Manager and from the 24 hours out of hours service. They always do their best to accommodate mum's needs as they change.
Mum is able to continue living in her own home, which she loves and is happy in, because of the marvellous support of Kemble at Home.
The Carers are always reliable and arrived even in the disruptive snowfall, earlier this year. Some walked through the ice and snow! Kemble at Home respond with extra support if needed, very quickly. Mum is able to stay at home because of Kemble at Home's amazing team and service. Mum and our whole family are very, very grateful. Thank you Kemble at Home!

Kemble at Home cared for my Mother-in-law when she returned from hospital - they made it possible for her to return to her home.

It was a very professional and efficient service from the first day of meeting the Manager and the carers were a great help and companion to my Mother-in-law.

you, Kemble.

I rang Kemble at Home in the autumn of 2017, our parents were advised to have some extra help as our lovely dad's mobility was getting very poor and was, in addition, to help given by the family. The lady I spoke to was really understanding and listened to my concerns and a package of care was put
in place, which was increased in time. The Carers were absolutely wonderful to our Dad, they treated him with great respect and spoke to him in a very pleasant and friendly manner. They did not rush him and took their time to do the personal care required and also help him move around the home.

The carers were fantastic to our Mum and the family. Dad passed in January just as the carers arrived, they stayed with Mum and my Sister for quite a while and were a great comfort and support. We are so grateful that the Kemble at Home and support staff came into our lives we could not have looked after Dad at home as well as we did without them. Thank you all so much.

Martin

Martin Lewis

Job Title: Care Assistant

Meet Martin, another one of our visiting carers - who celebrated his 10th anniversary with the company in August 2021 and joined us after initially retiring. Martin is one of those people who is really easy to talk to; he’s definitely a people person and he loves any opportunity to have a chinwag.

He was originally from Birmingham where he started off as an apprentice electrician. At the age of 21, he began his career with BT. He did a short stint of just some 37 years in total. It’s not very often these days you hear of someone staying in the same role for their entire working career. In 1990 he moved to the Madley BT station in Herefordshire as a sat comms power engineer.

In 2011 he was given the opportunity of taking voluntary retirement - who wouldn’t? Thinking at the age of 57 he would enjoy a relaxing retirement, “after 2 months I was bored, I needed something to get up for”. After speaking with his son, who at the time was working in social care (but now incidentally works for BT), he encouraged Martin to look into care work and recommended Kemble.
In August 2011 Martin joined the team at Kemble and in that time Martin has been both a carer and trainer, helping new employees at Kemble to find their feet. Some of the staff Martin has trained are still working for the company now.

How does he find being a carer? “You meet some really interesting people. I only go to gentlemen and they all have a life story to tell. We often compare notes as we are similar in age! I just enjoy meeting people and having a good chinwag”. Martin talks fondly about some of the clients he used to support and particularly enjoyed working alongside colleagues supporting clients.
When asked what would he say to someone in his shoes, looking for something to do part-time in retirement or semi-retirement he said “just give it a try, everyone is different with what they are happy doing. You are well supported at Kemble, the hours are good and I can fit my working hours around my home life and family”. The managers definitely know not to ask Martin for work on a Wednesday evening as Wednesdays are his wife’s night out for a meal!

Outside of work, Martin enjoys spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He’s heavily involved in the Hereford Rugby Club. He helped out in the juniors when his son was younger, he then became the 2nd Team Manager before becoming Fixture Secretary for a number of years. He now meets and greets opposition committee members on the 1st team match days both home and away.
