Oxford House Community Care provides high-quality person-centred care, support and companionship to people in their own homes. Care visits range from 30-minute visits to full-time live-in care.

The aim is to support individuals to retain their independence in their own homes and the team cover the Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire areas. Oxford House Community Care was acknowledged to be Outstanding under the ‘well-led’ category in its most recent CQC inspection (March 2019).

The team has over 30 years' experience in supporting individuals, with services ranging from domestic support to complex care needs, including dementia, palliative care, learning disabilities and reduced mobility needs. The care provided reflects not only a person’s health and well-being needs, but also their personal preferences and interests, giving them choice and control.

Oxford House Community Care recognises that every person they care for is an individual, so the care team take time to understand the level of care that is needed and work with them to create a care package that meets their needs, which can evolve over time.

The experienced, friendly team can explore all care options, including further opportunities that are available in the local community through time for you visits and help with assisted technology. Real time technologies help keep families up to date and involved with the care being delivered.

The care team are happy to discuss your home care requirements and the range of available funding options on a person-by-person basis.

I cannot fault the care and service that my mum gets from Oxford House. The team are excellent. The carers are reliable and do their job to the highest standard. Any issues are relayed to me promptly via the office team. My mum is in safe hands with them, and that is a high level of reassurance to both
my mum and I.

Very helpful, always ready to help. As our father-in-law lives with us, we see if first hand, the kind of care he is given. Very happy with the type of care given.

My husband has been receiving care 4+times a day through Oxford House Community Care.
The change in management has seen a huge improvement in communication, empathy and care, especially as my husband has dementia and is in poor health. In particular, the manager and 2 other staff members from Oxford
House Carers really do have his best interests at heart and have been excellent and finding 2 carers perfect for him. I used to feel anxious calling the office to discuss my husband's care but now, when I call the office, I am listened to as I know what’s best for my husband and know Mr Gilani is well cared for. The carers are eligible for 5 stars and are doing a perfect job professionally.

We are very pleased with the level of care the carers provide towards my mum. They are friendly and courteous towards her, which makes her feel relaxed while handling her in all aspects. The agency management is very helpful and provides a professional service.

Once the care package was set up the carers have mainly arrived at the time expected (just a few unforeseen exceptions). As a provider they have been very flexible and been able to accommodate my mum's changing needs, having been able to increase or decrease the number of visits as required. They have
also liaised with the local authority requesting further assessments at home which has been very useful.
The carers make a fuss of mum as well as talking to my dad who is her main carer.

I am truly grateful to all of those who have been and are active in the care of my mum over the last 6-7 months and going forward - they are always ready to help if I have any questions or any concerns. They have truly been a lifesaver. I live a 4-hour round journey and I feel peaceful in the knowledge
that my mum is being cared for and if she is happy then I am too. Thank you.

Oxford House care team has provided us with good care for my disabled mother. This care has helped us tremendously whereby my children and myself can now concentrate and continue with our daily lives. I can rely on the care provided and carry on with my work life without worrying too much about my elderly
mother. The staff are good and friendly and helpful.

I wanted to say a huge thank you for the first-class service received in caring for my father, who is 91.
The level of care is second to none and I can rest assured he is well looked after and able to stay in his own home, which means so much to him.

Very good service from Oxford House, the team on the phone are most helpful, the carers are good and kind, just sometimes are not on time, which causes my mother to get very anxious.

Very poorly run, no set times for carers to arrive, extremely poor medication practices, rude office staff told my nan she had been 'a nuisance since she joined them' for wanting 4 hours between her medication as had been advised by GP. Some carers are lovely, others are rude and lazy. If I could recommend
one place not to go, it would be here.

Reply from Tony Johnston at Oxford House Community Care

We are sorry that you are dissatisfied with our services. We have previously reviewed these concerns and understand that they are resolved. The review included social services, your grandmother and ourselves. We organised and continue to provide an additional weekly visit from one of the area supervisors to ensure that all visits and gaps between visits are as planned. Our data suggest that all visits are taking place as planned and within acceptable tolerances. We have previously asked your grandmother if she would like to switch agency, but she is adamant that she wishes to stay with us on the basis of having developed strong bonds with her team of Carers.

My mother is not the easiest of clients. She has dementia and refuses to go into a care home. Oxford House Community Care attends to her three times daily. The carer gets her out of bed, washes and dresses her. Makes sure she has her hearing aids in then settles her in front of the TV. Gets her breakfast
and then makes sure she is comfortable until the carer returns. Mum's eating habits are not the best in as much she would live on jam sandwiches. Her carer knows she likes fried fish from the local fish and chip shop, so she takes the time to call into the shop to collect some fresh cooked fish. She really enjoys this. The carer makes her a jam sandwich for an afternoon snack. A member of the family calls in at teatime and makes her a sandwich (jam) and cake. Finally, early evening, the carer calls to get her into bed and settle her down for the night. Mum has nothing but praise for her carer and it is a comfort for me and my siblings to know that she is being well looked after.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.729 for Oxford House Community Care is calculated as follows: ( (36 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.729

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Oxford House Community Care is based on 8 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 4.8

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
