Tendacare is an established local homecare organisation of over 30 years that provides homecare visits to adults who are generally older and/or disabled living in the neighbouring areas of Great Bookham, Fetcham, Leatherhead, Ashtead and Epsom. Many of the staff work proudly for Tendacare and have done for many years because they really understand person-centred care, independence and dignity.

Following discussion and a non-obligatory assessment by an experienced assessor, visits can be arranged from half an hour and increased in quarter of an hour time blocks as required. Clients can receive as much or as little care as they wish, from once a fortnight to five times a day with two care staff if needed. Tendacare staff are flexible and responsive to clients’ needs and use careful planning to provide a tailored service that considers clients’ commitments and appointments.

Tendacare looked after my father for many years. I found the management and staff to be professional throughout his care. They always kept me informed and quickly raised any concerns. I always felt any issues were dealt with immediately.
Above all, their care staff had the right training and experience
to look after my father. They made me feel that my dad was in safe hands. A professional and well-managed care organisation.

The carer/staff member allocated to us on a regular basis was good. Things were less stable when she was away. The communication between the staff member/carer and myself as the main carer and care co-ordinator worked well but timing was often a problem - but that is true across the sector, they were
no different from the other care agencies we used in that regard. Overall we had a good service.

Had Tendacare carers visit mornings and evenings for half hour visits over a period of three weeks. Being ill and week, required assistance with washing, dressing and undressing and application of cream.
The visits were set up very promptly after the initial assessment. Procedures and commitments
were clearly explained and accepted. Visiting carers were polite, friendly and efficient. Always, before leaving they asked, 'is there anything else we can do?'
The service was very good and personal and proved to be a most satisfactory experience.

Over the years, dad became more reliant on this service. His regular carers became friends and nothing seemed too much trouble and were concerned for him. We felt comfortable that dad was in their care and could rely on them.

We had two visits per day, am to pm, to wash/dress and assist with my disabled husband. They were punctual, tidy and caring. Chatted with him and were very helpful. They made his bed and offered to do more if required, we could not fault their service. Excellent and come highly recommended.

Tendacare (Ashstead) provided care and support for almost a year to an elderly friend, initially once a day and then twice a day as her care needs increased. The staff were kind, caring and professional and were willing to help with anything, including waiting with my friend until an ambulance arrived
following a fall. I would have no hesitation in recommending Tendacare.

Tendacare looked after my Mum with 3 visits a day until she died in 2015 and almost immediately took on the serving of lunches to my aunt (my mother's sister.) The carers have all been lovely. They have all been easy to talk to and my aunt who, at first didn't think she needed the support, very soon
came to look forward to the carer's arrival.
Thank you for making this first step into care so easy.

From the time I got in touch to when we sadly had to cancel I have nothing but thanks and respect for all the staff. They were all wonderful with my mum and nothing was too much trouble.

My parents have been clients of Tendacare for the past 6 years. I have had no problems with them over this period. The care they have provided has been excellent. The service is efficient and responsive. I would, in particular, like to thank a particular staff member for the wonderful support to my

Mum had become very frail at 92 years but always looked forward to her carer visits. They pampered to her needs but still allowed her to feel independent.


They made her feel special drawing our memories from the past and becoming her friend still carrying out care to the highest standard. The small

team achieved a brilliant rapport and gave us peace of mind that she was cared for.

My aunt was quite anti at first, she has dementia and taking her medication correctly became a huge problem. Tendacare came along, so friendly and understanding my aunt agreed to one visit a day, which, over time, has increased as needed. To me, this hard journey of dementia. The whole team have become
friends as well as carers, showing us the way with advice and care. I can't recommend them enough. They have kept me sane, especially as I don't live near my aunt.

In the autumn of last year, I developed Polymyalgia and with it, increasing stiffness of my arms, neck and shoulders, making washing and dressing extremely difficult. I was very grateful for some kindly help from the lovely ladies of Tendacare, for a few weeks until I was well enough to look after
myself again.


When I moved to a flat with a walk in shower with no support rails, which I was too nervous to use while in the house alone, I called on Tendacare again, who not only helped me to shower safely, but also showed me where I needed rails, so that I quickly regained my confidence and independence.


Everyone who visited me treated me with kindness and respect and I was very happy in their care. I only wish I had called for help sooner.

My name is Sue Smith and I am the owner and registered manager of Tendacare.
It is over 30 years since I had the 'dream' of having my own business. When leaving school I trained as a nurse and after a few years of working in various staff nursing posts, I became a district nurse and worked in the community.
During this time I could see there was a need arising for people to be able to organise and be in control of the support they needed at home with personal care needs and gradually Tendacare was born and the business grew.
Now I continue to be responsible for leading and directing the homecare service that we provide employing 50 staff who share the same commitment and values as I had when it first began. With pride, I can say that Tendacare has a really good team of staff who know and understand how to set up and follow through packages of care that will give the outcomes our clients desire.
