Formally known as TLC Homecare, Choices Homecare's motto is 'skilled care your way', which is a philosophy they look to bring to older and vulnerable adults throughout South and West Yorkshire. The carers that come to me are very understanding of my needs. They make me feel at ease and they treat me with respect and I feel I've still got my dignity. They talk to me the whole time they are here and we sometimes have a little joke and that makes my day. Don't know what I'd do without them.

Excellent service that we've had for something like a year now. Thank you to the manager who set the service up. Lovely, regular and well trained staff, so helpful to both my parents. We really have peace of mind, knowing my parents are so well cared for. Staff were so kind and helpful when my dad was

My service continues to be good. I have 2 regular carers who are highly satisfactory. When they are on holiday or days off, known carers are acceptable and efficient. Obviously better as they become familiar with service user needs.

We needed some respite care for only a week whilst the family was on holiday. The care packages were explained in detail, just needed a call in service twice a day. All went well for the week.
A further week from the 27th of October to the 1st of November has been arranged together with a weekly bathing/hair
care call of 45 minutes.
As time goes by we may consider meals to be provided to be accessed due to the capabilities of the client.

My mum has had TLC now for a couple of years she praises her carers and has a good relationship with them both. They always are friendly and compassionate in their work. I have recommended the company to numerous people as I work in healthcare. These girls do a fantastic job.

We are very pleased with the care that my mum gets. Everyone is so kind and caring. After a few initial teething problems, everything is great. In fact, my uncle is moving to you on the 9th of June from his existing care provider. Really like the fact I can see the visits on my emails too. The Manager,
Care Coordinator and Assessment and Reviewing Officer have been very efficient with any queries and your carer (think she covers Mum on a regular basis) is always so friendly and caring when I'm over visiting Mum. Many thanks to you all.

My honest opinion of TLC care workers are to be given a medal for their care to people who cannot help themselves, or a box of fancy chocolate would not go amiss. Your care team are gifted with exceptional methods of care e.g methods of care, equipment, handling methods (bed-bound), support in movements,
working together.

New carer has only been coming for a week but has already built a supportive relationship with my elderly mum who has Alzheimer's, dementia and mobility issues.

Hello, I'm Emma and I'm the Registered Manager here at Choices Homecare in Barnsley. I began working for Choices Homecare (Formerly TLC) last year and am enjoying the experience. I brought with me a wealth of experience, from starting out as a Care Worker, right through to my current role as Registered Manager of the service.


I enjoy working with my team and supporting them to ensure we continue 'to deliver a service to be proud of' in line with our Vision and PRIDE Values.

Carol Booker

Job Title: Care Coordinator

Joined: 1998

I'm Carol and I manage the Dearne area, Darfield, Wombwell, Royston and Athersley. I started as a care worker in 1998 at Christmas to earn a bit of extra cash for the kid's Christmas presents, This was supposed to be temporary and that was 25 years ago. Along the way, I somehow landed a care coordinator role without ever realising it in 2003 and have been with the exact same company all these years. Over that time I have had a lot of mums work in my area and now some of their children work for me. I am committed and love to help where I can.


I love my family and pets and always enjoy spending good quality time with them.

Sarah Ramsey

Job Title: Care Coordinator Barnsley

I'm Sarah, a care coordinator covering, Cudworth, Town, Darton and Worsbrough plus anything in between.


I never thought of ever getting into care work until the horrible COVID-19 struck and I couldn't do my previous job. I felt grounded and needed to get out of the house. I then saw a job for home care and thought I'd give that a go! I fell in love with care so much that I gave my other job up and became a team leader, due to hard work, dedication and great transferable skills I became a care coordinator. I joined TLC due to the positive things I had heard and the career progression that is offered. Since starting I have never looked back and can't wait to see where this journey will take me.


In my spare time, I love spending time with my beautiful little boy and husband.

Rita Barker

Job Title: Assessment and Reviewing Officer

Joined: 2017

Rita absolutely loves working in care, and she is constantly making sure the quality of care is up to the best of standards for our service users, ensuring she provides the best support possible and assuring our care workers do too.


When searching for her next adventure, Rita soon came to realise that she wanted to do more within care, so she jumped at the opportunity to become our next ARO. With her extensive skill set and prior knowledge of care, we knew Rita would make a great addition to our team.
