Formally known as TLC Homecare, Choices Homecare's motto is 'skilled care your way', which is a philosophy they look to bring to older and vulnerable adults throughout South and West Yorkshire. Overall care of my husband is excellent. He does not like change so continuity of care is essential. On occasions when substitute carers come they are inexperienced and need assistance from myself.

I receive good and pleasant service from all my carers. I prefer the carer to come between 8.45 am and 9 to 10 pm.

Great bunch of friendly, caring people who treat my aunt with dignity and respect. Nothing is too much trouble. My auntie idolises all the ladies that come in and is always pleased to see them. It's really great to see, and we as a family get so much peace of mind.

I have this care company because my husband has Alzheimer's, the ladies who come treat my husband with respect, they talk to him and tell him what they are doing. My husband feels comfy with them and they have a chat with me which is nice, very good company.

This is my husband's 4th year of care given by TLC Homecare. A good timekeeping service, where possible with carers he knows. The carers give good care and spend time encouraging him to speak. 1 or 2 issues with some new carers requesting more support with double sessions. Overall he is very pleased
with TLC Homecare.

TLC has always been a good care company for my dad. He is hard to please sometimes and is regimented with times of day that carers should arrive if there a minute late he gets on to them. They deal with him in a professional and caring way.

Our family cannot praise TLC Homecare highly enough, they are brilliant. All the carers treat Dad with such kindness, understanding and patience. Your staff have been providing re-enablement support for my mum after she came out of hospital. I have to say every single one of the care providers were exceptional, going over and above every time they attended. Truly superb, they are a credit to you. I really can't praise them enough.

Amazing from the start. My friend was reluctant to receive any care but recently she has needed a little more help than usual. I spoke with the manager of the branch who worked with me to choose the care we needed. Carers are brilliant, kind caring, professional and know how to put my friend at ease.

Management have given me great support in helping me deal with a few problems, and have also stepped up when I needed the help regarding the care given. The carers are all extremely helpful and friendly both to my husband and myself. I still cannot believe that they make the bed and clean up the bathroom when my husband's care is done. He was even treated to a cup of tea when I was out. Well done. You make life that bit easier for us.

This has been my first experience of home care service for my mum.
We have been extremely impressed with the care from TLC.
All the carers have been very kind, respectful, and professional. They have given Mum time and consideration and not talked down to her.

We like to see our regular carers. We would also like you to keep to our arranged times (e.g. contract) as on some occasions you have altered them without discussion. We understand that delays may occur. Overall, we are very satisfied with TLC.

I have found both staff and management to be professional with their approach to ascertaining the needs of my 85-year-old mother, their caring and friendly attitude towards her has put a very worried old lady's mind at ease, she is delighted with the care package that has been put in place for her.

The branch manager has been amazing, she's helped me no end for my mum's needs, also one other staff member in particular who bathed Mum has been brilliant. I would highly recommend this care company, staff and coordinators are caring and very helpful.

Hello, I'm Emma and I'm the Registered Manager here at Choices Homecare in Barnsley. I began working for Choices Homecare (Formerly TLC) last year and am enjoying the experience. I brought with me a wealth of experience, from starting out as a Care Worker, right through to my current role as Registered Manager of the service.


I enjoy working with my team and supporting them to ensure we continue 'to deliver a service to be proud of' in line with our Vision and PRIDE Values.

Job Title: Care Coordinator

Joined: 1998

I'm Carol and I manage the Dearne area, Darfield, Wombwell, Royston and Athersley. I started as a care worker in 1998 at Christmas to earn a bit of extra cash for the kid's Christmas presents, This was supposed to be temporary and that was 25 years ago. Along the way, I somehow landed a care coordinator role without ever realising it in 2003 and have been with the exact same company all these years. Over that time I have had a lot of mums work in my area and now some of their children work for me. I am committed and love to help where I can.


I love my family and pets and always enjoy spending good quality time with them.

I'm Sarah, a care coordinator covering, Cudworth, Town, Darton and Worsbrough plus anything in between.


I never thought of ever getting into care work until the horrible COVID-19 struck and I couldn't do my previous job. I felt grounded and needed to get out of the house. I then saw a job for home care and thought I'd give that a go! I fell in love with care so much that I gave my other job up and became a team leader, due to hard work, dedication and great transferable skills I became a care coordinator. I joined TLC due to the positive things I had heard and the career progression that is offered. Since starting I have never looked back and can't wait to see where this journey will take me.


In my spare time, I love spending time with my beautiful little boy and husband.

Rita Barker

Job Title: Assessment and Reviewing Officer

Joined: 2017

Rita absolutely loves working in care, and she is constantly making sure the quality of care is up to the best of standards for our service users, ensuring she provides the best support possible and assuring our care workers do too.


When searching for her next adventure, Rita soon came to realise that she wanted to do more within care, so she jumped at the opportunity to become our next ARO. With her extensive skill set and prior knowledge of care, we knew Rita would make a great addition to our team.
