Formally known as TLC Homecare, Choices Homecare's motto is 'skilled care your way', which is a philosophy they look to bring to older and vulnerable adults throughout South and West Yorkshire. They are proud to support people to live in their own homes for longer and can provide a full range of homecare services.

Their 'Values' are embedded throughout the Organisation to ensure they reflect their Vision (...to deliver a service to be proud of, and that they are able to deliver the best quality of care that they can for all of their service users.

They offer a person centred approach to a wide range of care needs (offering support with: personal care, meal preparation, medication assistance, home respite/safety check visits or sitting services whilst family go out, assisting service users to go out into the community, shopping, light domestic help and more). They can also provide support to adults who suffer dementia or those with learning or other disabilities.

There is a strong focus on quality recruitment and training and Choices are passionate about delivering safe, well planned services; care and support workers promote choice and independence to assist service users in remaining as independent as possible, whatever the situation. Outcome-focused services take account of client preferences and aspirations, with 'Choices' considering themselves as 'working in partnership with their service users' to deliver, quality services to each and every one.

My mum's care review was carried out yesterday, under safe, covid guidelines. Thorough questions were asked and updated in a caring and professional manner. Very happy with the care my mum receives. The three carers who look after my mum have done a great job through these difficult times. Thank you.

Mum is 91 years of age, blind and has many different health issues and needs. The TLC ladies who care for her are absolutely amazing. The support they give is exemplary and they are professional, caring, efficient and caring and we cannot thank them enough. Whenever we need to discuss Mum's care, the
staff and management team are wonderful too. We thank TLC from the bottom of our hearts for their care of Mum.

Always found the carers to be very polite, they look after mum well. She is just getting to know the new carers as two of her long-standing carers have left. The new ones seem to be very caring and supportive. Thank you.

My husband only had TLC Homecare Ltd for a very short time, as he was taken into hospital and sadly died on 29th June 2021. In the short time he was cared for by them, the carers were all very kind and cheerful and even made him laugh at times. They were also very supportive of me during that short
spell, when I needed someone to listen to my concerns. I can't thank them enough.

My mum has six carers a day so it's difficult to review the whole service, we find some carers are excellent and really care about my mum but others see this as a job and ask to leave as soon as it's possible. My mum has Parkinson's and needs her meds every three hours, we found some carers come over
an hour early and some late. My mum would go anything between two and a half hours to four and a half hours between calls.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your review, we really appreciate all feedback received (both positive and negative), to assist us in future improvements to our service. We are really pleased you find some of our care workers 'excellent' but sorry that you feel that some just see this as 'a job'. We would like to reassure you that we have checked the times your Mum receives her care visits and can confirm that these are in line with pharmacy requirements, in relation to your Mum's medication plan as needed, our Care Service Manager will be in touch to discuss the points you make further and confirm. Please also feel more than welcome to get in touch with the office (on your usual contact number), should you feel there is anything else you'd like to discuss, moving forwards. Thanks again for your feedback and comments and for completing your Homecare.co.uk review.

The carers are all very polite and respectful as well as caring. I had a small group of 4-5 who were attending on a regular basis, however, this group seems to have got larger, which is not quite as good. Other than that, I am very satisfied with the service I am receiving.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.697 for Choices Homecare (Barnsley) is calculated as follows: ( (178 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 241 Ratings = 4.697

I'm Carol and I manage the Dearne area, Darfield, Wombwell, Royston and Athersley. I started as a care worker in 1998 at Christmas to earn a bit of extra cash for the kid's Christmas presents, This was supposed to be temporary and that was 25 years ago. Along the way, I somehow landed a care coordinator role without ever realising it in 2003 and have been with the exact same company all these years. Over that time I have had a lot of mums work in my area and now some of their children work for me. I am committed and love to help where I can.

I love my family and pets and always enjoy spending good quality time with them.

I'm Sarah, a care coordinator covering, Cudworth, Town, Darton and Worsbrough plus anything in between.

I never thought of ever getting into care work until the horrible COVID-19 struck and I couldn't do my previous job. I felt grounded and needed to get out of the house. I then saw a job for home care and thought I'd give that a go! I fell in love with care so much that I gave my other job up and became a team leader, due to hard work, dedication and great transferable skills I became a care coordinator. I joined TLC due to the positive things I had heard and the career progression that is offered. Since starting I have never looked back and can't wait to see where this journey will take me.

In my spare time, I love spending time with my beautiful little boy and husband.
