Overall I am satisfied with the care/service provided by Beechtree, the timing of visits can be erratic, the last call of the day should be 20.00 but sometimes the carer arrives at 19.15. The morning 11.40 call can be late but I understand that calls can take longer if there is an issue with the patient,
or heavy traffic, weather etc. If there is a late morning call after an early call the night before the service user will have been in bed for an extended period.
The care provided is usually thorough. Some careers take longer than others but in general, I find the care provided is acceptable.
When I have had cause to phone the office, not always been able to get through. But any issue I have raised has been answered.
There was an issue about the care plan but this was resolved.
I would give the majority of staff 5 *.

Extremely poor, unprofessional 'office' management.
Managers constantly advising they're short-staffed, have staff sickness and put their client's family in a position where they feel obligated to cover contracted calls.
Care calls are often made at times not contracted and not within the permitted
30 minutes on either side of the agreed call time. Visits are sometimes a number of hours late or early - which sometimes results in the client not getting the required care because they are out at hospital appointments or visiting unwell relatives.
Carers used to cover domestic (cleaning) calls. The perception is that cleaning is not done as agreed contractually; instead, it's a quick surface skim.
Abuse of power by 'office' management. When l have rebutted what l have been told, because it is untrue, the 'office' management takes offence and clearly is not receptive to feedback or an alternate, real view.
The result - the care package was cancelled. I suspect there's a bullying culture in Beech Tree.

Unfortunately today, due to a few genuine complaints about my disabled husband's lack of personal hygiene care by one carer in particular has caused the Beech Tree Care Agency to discontinue their service with us, despite us highly complimenting 3 other carers. We have effectively been given notice
till 9th April when the service will end. As a business director myself, I am totally appalled of the way we have been treated and disregarded. I always listen to my customers and do my utmost to address and correct any concerns, reputation is vital in business however this branch seems to fail and acknowledge the importance of this.
We now have to find an alternative carer at very short notice.
Today, my husband took a turn because of the upset and blamed himself for making a complaint. He was in tears, can you imagine at 76 suffering from a severe stroke that has left him disabled down his right side and being treated in this way! He is a proud man and deserves respect.

Okay, so my review relates from May and is ongoing. Anyway, I am doing this review on behalf of my housemate so it has all started from day one. There was a carer who was absolutely useless. We had to phone the office three times before we were listened to regarding this carer, who has since been let
go. So moving on in the past few weeks my housemate has been told, last minute may I add, that there is a shortage of carers so the carers may be late which is not the case because they are nonexistent. So I've had to do the carer's job on multiple occasions which I shouldn't be doing because I'm not trained to be a carer. She has two call-out times, one in the morning and one in the evening, and the majority of the time they are late except when one particular carer is working. She is excellent, no issues whatsoever. In fact, this carer should be promoted because without her you would be screwed anyway, moving on. When I have rang the office, the office staff (I don't know her name) was rude.

Unfortunately, there is a nationwide shortage of care staff and this is affecting services. Local authorities are fully aware of the situation and we are all doing the best we can to support all service users.

I am delighted with my choices of caregivers, especially this winter as I caught that flu, no less than three times in a row, plus relevant chest infections. My carers resorted to using a little face mask, so as not to bring in or take out the germs in a gallivant effort to get me through. So a very
big thank you to them and their efforts. My girls as I call them are more like friends and family and I wouldn't be without them, so thank you all.
