Home Instead (Edgbaston) is an award winning company providing pro-active companionship-led care to people in their own homes in Central, East and South Birmingham covering areas Edgbaston, Harborne, Selly Oak, Bournville, Kings Norton, Yardley, Moseley, Kings Heath, Wthyall, Acocks Green and Hall Green, Hodge Hill, Ward End etc

In January 2019, the care element of their service was rated as 'Outstanding' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) at their routine inspection. This puts them in the very top tier of UK home care companies that have been inspected by the CQC.

The company individually matches Caregivers to the people that they support based on personality, interests and skills required. Their experience is that continuity of Caregiver makes a huge difference to the quality of support that they are able to provide. All of the people that work for them live locally and are car drivers insured to take people out into the community if that is required.

The company looks to add some colour into people’s lives that they go to as well as providing the practical support required that help them to continue living independently in their own homes.

Many specialist conditions come within the provider's expertise, including long-term illness, mental health and learning disabilities. The agency has built up a strong reputation in Birmingham since it began operating in 2009.

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

I have only this last couple of week become a client and am just getting acquainted, I feel safe and cared for once, at last. It is 13 years ago, when my illness began. I had a heart attack and it was found my heart was seriously damaged, so they could not operate. So I have had to slow down and take
things easy, I've had help in the past but what you offer is excellent. I've got a very kind and pleasant lady now, who will see me every week, to do any household task and go shopping etc. No more lonely months. Thank you.

Our experience of Home Instead has been very good. Staff are always polite, efficient, helpful and good timekeepers, but what is most appreciated is the consistency and seeing the same carer regularly.
Contact with the office is good. Phone calls are returned and matters desalt with promptly. Housing
a review with a senior member of the team is most helpful.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.800) out of 10 for Home Instead (Edgbaston) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Home Instead (Edgbaston) is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 46 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 2 points in total for each of the next 9 Positive Reviews (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.1, 7th = 0.1, 8th = 0.1, 9th = 0.1, 10th = 0.1)

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Home Instead (Edgbaston) is based on 8 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 4.8

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
