The Good Care Group is a fully managed and regulated provider of high-quality home care across England and Scotland that enables people to continue living in the comfort and familiarity of their own home and avoid moving into a residential care home.

The home care services include 24-hour live-in care, and a respite service across England and Scotland and an hourly visiting service in London.

The Good Care Group are specialists in caring for people with dementia, Parkinson’s, stroke rehabilitation, multiple sclerosis and providing end-of-life care. They have a team of in-house experts led by a Consultant Admiral Nurse and Occupational Therapist, who oversee and support care delivery for more complex care needs.

In England, The Good Care Group is rated 'Outstanding' in all five inspected categories by Care Quality Commission (CQC) (November 2022).

In Scotland, The Good Care Group Scotland is rated 'Excellent' for quality of care and support and 'Very Good' for quality of staffing and management (July 2019).

The Good Care Group employ professional carers, typically hiring only two per cent of applicants, following a rigorous recruitment process - including a situational judgement test.

Carers are trained to the highest standard, with modules such as dementia and end-of-life care included in the induction programme, and are supported by an experienced team of care managers and a central support office.

Professional carers are carefully matched with each client and through effective management of rotas, they ensure that clients benefit from a consistent care team whom they are familiar with.

By late 2020 my wife, in her 70's, was suffering from Parkinson's and Dementia. In mid January 2021 we were provided with a Polish carer who worked a month on and a month off for the next 4 years, until my wife died at the end of February 2025. She formed a strong bond with my wife and they got on
very well together. She was good at motivating my wife and keeping her cheerful. I believe that my wife was happier and better able to cope with her increasing disabilities than she would have been without the quality of care that she received from this and other carers. My life was certainly made much easier than it would, otherwise, have been. I have to say that some of the other carers, who came to cover the Polish carers's month off, did not achieve the same high standard but after a time we were sent another Polish carer who proved equally good. Night care was then needed and provided. One night carer was outstanding and she and the others made a very strong team.

As a family we are delighted with the care that my father receives from his two carers who alternate every two weeks. It took about 6 weeks to find two carers who fitted the job description for him as he is fiercely independent and resisted live-in care. These carers facilitate him staying in his own
home and he certainly could not manage without them. Both ladies are considerate of his privacy, sensitive to his Alzheimer's diagnosis and extremely reliable. They are kind, empathetic and write up good daily notes that we can follow. Nothing is too much trouble and both have formed a good bond with my father.
I feel that both carers are also very well supported by their care manager who is always in contact very quickly if needed and/or we are concerned about something.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are so pleased to hear that your father is receiving the care he needs and that the carers have built such a positive relationship with him. We understand how important it is to find carers who are not only highly skilled but also sensitive and understanding of your father's needs. It's great to know that they've been able to support his independence while offering the right care. Thanks again for sharing your experience, and we'll be sure to share your kind words with the rest of the team. Best wishes.

In April we realised that our mother (in her nineties) was no longer safe to live alone in her own home after another bad fall, despite that being her wish. We engaged The Good Care Group and the first of two carers started live-in care about six weeks ago. This has been a great success so far. The
carers have both been considerate, kind, patient, respectful and good company for her. She is looking well and seems very happy with the attention too.

I have all the support I need during the day and overnight. Support for activities such as playing board games, baking, etc. I am experiencing a relapse of my MS at the moment and things like board games help enormously by way of distraction therapy so not so aware of pain as I need to get by an average
day.

Reply from Emelie Karlsson, Care Manager at The Good Care Group

Thank you for your kind words. We are pleased that you are happy with the assistance you have received from our carers and that this has helped support in managing your MS. I will be sure to share your feedback with the team. All the best.

This is the second time that our family have been helped by carers from The Good Care Group. Their support during my dad’s final years was fantastic so when mum also started to need care support, I had confidence that The Good Care Group would find a good carer match for mum. Unlike some care agencies,
The Good Care Group visit a potential client to assess needs and tries hard to find a good match the first time round. We were so lucky that a carer was allocated to mum’s care. She was kind, caring, experienced and had so many interests in common with mum. We were also impressed by the Care Manager who was so responsive to any messages or queries sent to her by me or her carer and who worked so hard to make mum’s care experience a happy one. Over the years of dad’s care, we tried many care agencies, not always with happy results. The Good Care Group were a breath of fresh air when we moved my dad’s care to them. They came up trumps again for mum.

Our aunt was supported during the last 8-9 Weeks of her life at home allowing her to pass with dignity in her own bed. The last couple of weeks she got to see friends, have wonderful home-cooked meals and outings to the beach with picnics. Her carer went well above and beyond what we expected and supported
both us and her through her last few days, staying on past her shift to be there for our aunt so she was with someone she got on well with. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

It is very difficult to find an ideal carer. We are lucky to have one excellent live-in carer. Sadly, as carers rotate, we have found it difficult to find a satisfactory second carer. I don’t always feel that my concerns are listened to.
Access to the daily and weekly care diaries is very helpful -
especially when they are accurate.
The training in personal care and mobility is very good. The behaviours, communication and trust are more variable: from excellent to concerning.

Reply from Rosalie Davidson, Regional Care Manager at The Good Care Group

Dad has had a live-in carer for just over six months and it has been an excellent caring experience for the carers and those that supervise them. The carer is sensitive, attentive and flexible in her approach to Dad's changing daily needs; it is a relief to receive consistent professional care and support.

It is a big decision to have someone living in your home. Our family wanted to keep my husband, who has severe Alzheimer's, at home for as long as possible. The nurse-led service of The Good Care Group has enabled this. With one or two exceptions, the carers have been skilled, sensitive, caring and
supportive. The company has acted quickly when things have not been right. My only criticism is that it has sometimes been very late in the day when a carer profile is sent - leaving me with little choice.

Reply from Shannen Walton, Marketing Executive at The Good Care Group

Dear Anne, thank you for leaving this review. We really appreciate your feedback. We are happy to see that you are pleased with our carers and the company's support. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, I would be grateful if you could get in touch with me directly. We hope to learn from your experience, taking the necessary steps to bring about positive change.
Kind regards.

We have been fortunate having two lovely consistent carers for the last three years who are very kind and conscientious. They care for my mother-in-law very well, and she really responds to them despite her advanced dementia. Good support from management when required.

I am extremely happy with the standard of care. I am treated with respect, dignity and as an individual. Staff have taken the trouble to get to know me and my likes and dislikes and what works best for me and are patient and caring and explain things to me clearly. Very satisfied indeed.

Both the carer and the organisation have been extremely professional and responsive throughout. The quality of care, the tailoring of it to the client and the professional support in the background are of an excellent quality and of great comfort to family members.

Just had our 6-month review with our regional care manager and had a really good conversation about the change in memory, comprehension and physical ability of my parents-in-law, what the carers had observed and reported, and what steps were being taken (and would now be taken) to address their changing
needs. We have been delighted with the service provided by the Good Care Group, especially as I've had some medical challenges myself, and would recommend their services to anyone needing live-in care for ageing relatives. Both of our assigned carers are great but the senior, more experienced, carer is really special and has developed an amazing relationship with my parents-in-law. Despite their declining capacity and mobility they are both well cared for and, most importantly, still living in their own home, as per their wishes.

I have found the Good Care Group to be 100% effective and professional. There are cheaper solutions but none better. They really make sure their carers are first class and monitor the process constantly. The supervisors have a good knowledge of the situation in each household and check on it regularly.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.569 for The Good Care Group is calculated as follows: ( (38 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 51 Ratings = 4.569

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for The Good Care Group is based on 8 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 4.8

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
