I am very pleased with the carer service which I receive for my mother. It enables her to remain in her own home and to keep some independence and dignity. I often have to change the carer visits and the staff in the office are always helpful and accommodating. The outreach member of staff is also very
helpful, it's great that we can communicate via text message on any day of the week. The carers who visit mum are very friendly and pleasant, are always kind and supportive, and put her needs first. It's a very difficult job that they do, and travelling in all weathers must make it more difficult. However, they are regularly on time and always cheerful.

Hello, thank you for your nice review. I will pass this onto the carers who look after your mother. Thank you again. Russell.

All carers who visited gave a high standard of care, maintained privacy and dignity, were caring and compassionate, giving support where needed. The carers were cheerful and friendly, always a welcoming smile. Nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend this care home.

Caremark provided daily care to my elderly father between March and September 2020. During this time his 2 carers were punctual and provided a very high level of professional and compassionate care. This was a huge comfort to the family during lockdown when we were unable to visit.
Due to failing health,
my father is now in a care home but still talks about his 'lovely carers'. A great testament to the service you provided.

1) Not much choice but to use this firm. No one else offers this service.
2) Having emptied the commode and urine bottles the carers often wash up the crockery and cutlery without changing gloves.
3) On signing up we agreed on an 8:30 am start, rarely achieved - often one hour early or one hour late.
4)
Discussed 2 and 3 with management, nothing ever changes.
5) Recruits don't appear to be trained before being sent out to the clients because I often give on job training to the young carers who are clueless.

The carers have been very supportive and allowed my husband independence. They are willing to do small housekeeping duties such as laying the table for breakfast. I was able to feel relaxed when I went away on holiday knowing he was cared for. He says he was looked after, and they followed the instructions
I left, however, I was disappointed that I wasn't informed by the manager that they weren't able to help defrost the freezer I was told by a carer.

For walking carers, not enough time is given to get to the next call. Sometimes a carer and client are waiting for the second carer to help.

Hello, If you would like to contact the office and I can discuss any concerns you may have? Carer's are always allocated travel time so I will look into why they have not been arriving on time. Kind Regards Russell.

Improvements have been made over the last 12 months, informing the clients with a rota for the week. This is now happening most weeks.
Unfortunately no consistency of staff: some carers are excellent and a credit to the profession and others should really be looking for alternative employment. Suggest
to improve supervision, for example;
1. Carer enters the home without greetings to the client and then proceed to sit down and look at their phone.
2. Carer comes in very chatty and cheerful and is engaging with the client. Obviously, the client is more likely to feel better with the second carer.
The client feels unable to complain as does not want to seem ungrateful. Hence the scoring.

I would like to say a very big thank you to all the carers who looked after our Dad in the last few months of his life, especially to a carer whose care and compassion went above and beyond. Dad thought very highly of him and he is an excellent carer, nothing was too much trouble for him. I would recommend
the company to others.

3 of the carers are superb, they think the world of my wife and take care of her well.
My wife feels so comfortable when these carers turn up and has a cry when they are not here. There are 3 carers in particular who, if she didn't see them, I'm afraid she would be so upset.

My main carer has been off since 2019 and another carer who has known me for 5 years has stepped up to take her place and knows me very well and knows what I need doing and the standard I expect, especially the little things that other carers don't know about or just don't do. I have memory problems
and she reminds me about appointments I have which other carers forget to look on my calendar in the mornings to remind me. I always had her for morning calls but they keep changing her and that's when things get missed.

Reply from Russell Tabiner, Deputy Care Manager at Caremark Hull, East Riding, York, Selby & North Lincolnshire

We will always try for consistency when arranging carers for our clients because we understand the importance of this and the impact it can have on the lives of our clients. I'm sorry to hear this has changed recently for you, we would only change a carer when it is absolutely necessary. Moving forward I will look into this and try to have your normal routine back in place without disruptions.
