Home Instead provide an incredible service to my dad, regularly going above what is expected. They are quick to respond to any change in needs and regularly review to ensure the right level of care is in place. But most importantly the caregivers care and always do what is best for dad.

Myself and my family have been very pleased with the level of care provided by Home Instead, we have faced one or two challenges since they have been looking after Mum and they have been brilliant.
Everyone is always very friendly and helpful in the office, nothing is too much trouble. The carers
on Mum's team regularly go above and beyond to look after Mum and she gets on well with them which is the main thing. Mum's happiness and safety is our main priority and keeping her in her own home for as long as possible.
The portal is invaluable with all the notes from the carer's visits as my Mum has dementia this is absolutely crucial and if there are any concerns raised by the carers the office will always contact me if the matter is urgent.
The best decision we ever made engaging Home Instead.

Thank you for your lovely review, Sharon. It is a pleasure looking after your mum and ensuring her needs are met so she can live at home safe and well. The Care Professionals always enjoy visiting and it’s lovely to see how well they get on with mum.

The Home Instead team are compassionate and caring. They help Mum with her aches and pains and suggest ideas to make her life more comfortable. They are also extremely professional. They take responsibility for day-to-day activities and chores and use initiative when they see something that needs doing.
Mum would certainly not be able to stay at home without the support of Home Instead.

Reply from Glenda Arendse, Field Care Supervisor at Home Instead (Southampton)

Hi David, thank you for those kind words - the team find it a joy to visit her.
They feel so very privileged to be part of her life and help her to continue living the life she deserves in her own home!

It is a pleasure looking after your dad, he always has a smile for everyone. It has been really nice to progress from being his CAREGiver to his Field Care Supervisor, meaning I can continue supporting him. The team who visit often tell me how much they enjoy their visits and how cheerful he is.

I do not know where we would be without Home Instead and their wonderful carers. Everyone is without exception caring and kind. Also so professional, noticing changes in Mum's condition speedily so that we can be proactive in seeking early help from GP/District Nurse etc. They are there in times of
crisis and always supportive and going over and above what you might expect. I cannot recommend you highly enough. You are enabling Mum to stay as safe as she can be in her own home which is what she wants. Well done Home Instead.

Thank you for the lovely review. It is a pleasure to care and support your mum so she can continue to stay at home. Our team of Care Professionals very much enjoy visiting, and I can see the bonds they have all built up with your mum. She really is a very special person who brings a smile to everyone who visits.

My father has been part of the Home Instead 'extended family' for over two years. As his needs have changed the service that he receives has been adjusted to enable him to live well in his own home. As a whole family, we continue to be reassured and impressed by your genuine care, friendliness and high
professional standards. We additionally hear of much enjoyment and humour during the visits each day! I admire the way that through the portal notes I can also get to know your exceptional team - whom you have carefully matched to my father's needs and interests. Through some challenging years, I congratulate Home Instead for providing such a steady presence in my father's life. Thank you so much!

Reply from Lesley L, Field Care Supervisor at Home Instead (Southampton)

Hi Jacqui,
Thank you so much for your kind words.
It is such a pleasure to care for your lovely father. He is a charming gentleman whom we all continue to grow even fonder of by the day. Our care professionals enjoy assisting him, going on walks with him, listening to his tales of the past and helping to cheekily pop pieces into whichever jigsaw puzzle he is doing at the time. We look forward to seeing him at every visit and review and hope to continue to support him for many years to come. We wish you and your family a lovely Christmas and a healthy and happy 2023.

Home Instead have been a lifeline. They have provided excellent care and support for my Dad since 2018. They have also been there for us, Dad's family, offering help, comfort and peace of mind if needed. I have the highest of praise for all the staff at Home Instead. From the managers to the support
team at Headquarters to the dedicated care givers who have looked after Dad so well. Over the years they have maintained a very high standard of service including the very difficult Covid period.

Reply from Mallory Grace, Field Care Supervisor at Home Instead (Southampton)

Thank you very much for your review. It has been an absolute pleasure to care for your Dad and meeting with yourself for the service reviews, quality assurances and more.

I can say that since Home Instead was introduced her life has significantly changed for the better. From being depressed and in danger of eating out of date food to being happy and more confident and by finding not only helpers but new friends. The service has proved reliable and with continuity maintained.
The staff have kept her safe and have shown great kindness, even going above and beyond in making sure she enjoys her shopping trips and other little treats. I am impressed with the leadership and am grateful that I am kept up to date and that we can share opinions and thoughts. When required any action is taken straight away.

Reply from Lesley W, Field Care Supervisor at Home Instead (Southampton)

Thank you so much for your kind words, I know how much you care for our lovely client. It has been an absolute pleasure to support her over the last 18 months during which time her dedicated team of care professionals and myself have become very fond of her. Our client has come a long way since our first meeting with you both and I'm extremely pleased that she has responded so well to our care. I hope to be able to continue to support her and liaise with yourself for many more years to come. Many thanks.

From our first conversation with staff at Home Instead we felt comfortable with their client-centred approach towards Dad’s needs. The practical advice they gave to us (his family) about getting him to accept the care was superb, as we knew Dad would not want this... “he was fine”.
Since Home Instead
started to visit my dad for an hour per day on weekdays, the positive changes in his physical appearance, eating/drinking habits, and general outlook on things has been dramatic. Makes our visits more focussed on Dad, and not about cleaning, washing, etc.
Well done, your input here is fantastic and very much appreciated.
I would strongly recommend the Home Instead service, but in addition to that one of my biggest clients who are also a franchise domiciliary care providers have told me that Home Instead are very well respected in the industry, and my wife’s colleague (NHS) has used them for her mother.

Reply from Greg Harrold, Director at Home Instead (Southampton)

Thank you so much for your lovely review. We work really hard to ensure that we focus on meeting all our client's needs and it's great to hear that we have made a difference to your father!
It is great to hear that we have an excellent name out in the community, this is really due to the amazing work our care professionals and office staff do each day. Thank you again.

All of my family have been consistently impressed with the high level of service and care provided by both the staff delivering care to our mother at her home and also the office support staff. Being able to deliver the flexible care our mother needs as well as being so genuinely caring is very reassuring
to us as a family as we all live some distance from Mum. The Annual Review just undertaken again demonstrated that Home Instead provide the care that is needed with compassion and professional standards that are of the highest quality.

My review reflects the ongoing care that Home Instead have provided for my Mother and Father (Latter RIP 2018) over the last 8 years and continue to do so. It’s wonderful; Very carefully sensitive and very warmly done whilst being very efficient and thus reassuring for my siblings and I, who all live
at least 90 minutes away. The team have been quick to spot and flag up any changes in behaviour that might need addressing e.g. UTI. as well as helping my Mother to get her Covid vaccinations despite backlogs at the GP. Thank you very much.

Reply from Laura Ayling, Field Care Supervisor at Home Instead (Southampton)

Thank you for your kind words, Julian. It is nice to know that you feel completely reassured that Mum is well looked after as we know how difficult it can be for families that live away. Mum is a joy to know and I know her care professionals are always doing little extras to help her out.

The standard of care Mum consistently receives is just exemplary. The caregivers are amazing, and have improved the quality of Mum’s life so significantly. As well as her personal care and support with daily living, they take her out on walks and outings and do craft activities and baking with her;
all the things she used to love so much. They are so gentle and patient with her, and so understanding of the struggles she now faces. I never have to worry when a caregiver is with her because the quality of care is so high. We have excellent support from the Care Manager and Head Office staff, and the communication is brilliant.
We absolutely love our time together at the Memory Café! I consider it to be the best quality time I spend with Mum now, where we laugh and have fun together, and she is just like my old Mum! I am so grateful for this resource, and the support it gives me as a family Carer.

Reply from Laura Ayling, Field Care Supervisor at Home Instead (Southampton)

Thank you for such a lovely review, Heather. Mum has a great bond with her team and it is a privilege to see Mum have fun completing the things she loves to still do and see the joy on her face and I know that the Care Professional’s get just as much joy out of all the baking and craft activities! We are so pleased you find the Memory Café rewarding – it is a great opportunity to spend time with loved ones and enjoy each other’s company for a few hours!

I would highly recommend Home Instead as a result of their wonderful care for my nan. All the staff went above and beyond many times, always providing a high level of professionalism and excellent care.
The caregivers were all so lovely and made my nan feel very special and loved, in what was a difficult
time for her. Our family could not have asked for more. I know my nan was incredibly grateful for everything the Home Instead team did for her.
As a family, if we ever had a query, there would always be a reassuring and friendly voice at the end of the phone.
Thank you so much to everyone.

Reply from Robin Boulter, Field Care Supervisor at Home Instead (Southampton)

Thank you for such a lovely review, it was a pleasure meeting your Nan and having the privilege to support her and the family through her end of life journey. The feedback from the CareGivers who support Nan has been one of the most encouraging and emotional things that I have read and heard. From day one Nan and yourselves were so friendly, welcoming and that they couldn’t wait to go back in to support Nan. The Live in CareGivers who supported Nan also had their hearts melted by her and the warmth that she would give, it really has made them feel special. Nan was a very special individual and it was a privilege getting to know her.

My mum has mixed dementia and what she needs is consistency, continuity, and routine and that is what we got when we changed Mum's care provider to Home Instead (Southampton) last year, mid pandemic. The small number of carers got to know Mum and her ways and they always arrive promptly, so Mum is never
left to worry they won't turn up. Home Instead (Southampton) understand that communication is key, we have one point of contact that knows Mum and the family, they call if they have concerns and we can easily contact them with any questions. It is the little things that the care givers notice and do, such as ensuring mum is always nicely dressed and the downstairs bed has matching duvet and pillow covers, that show they really take the time to care. I'm so pleased we moved to Home Instead (Southampton), I really wish we had done it sooner.

Reply from Lesley Wyles, Field Care Supervisor at Home Instead (Southampton)

Thank you so much, Kim, for your lovely review. Our caregivers really enjoy going in to support your lovely Mum and it is a pleasure for us to do so. Here at Home Instead we strive to provide an excellent service to all our clients and match them carefully to our caregivers who are all trained to put our clients at the front and centre of everything they do whilst adding that extra personal touch wherever possible. We are looking forward to supporting Mum for many years to come.

Home Instead look after my sister, she is 93 and suffers from dementia. Unfortunately, I live 630 miles away from her home, so I rely completely on them to give her all the care she needs.
Not only do they do this very well, but go the extra mile to help with other problems, which I am sure are more
than the normal remit.
They also try to keep the same small team who become like friends to my sister.
The office staff are always just a phone call away and are always helpful and keep me updated on any problems.
We are very happy with Home Instead.

Thank you for your lovely review and words, Richard.

Job Title: Head of Client Experience & Registered Manager

I was one of the first CAREGivers to join the Southampton office in July 2010. I was looking for a part-time job to enable me to integrate back into employment after spending the last ten years raising my three children. I had busied myself within the community as a Parish Councillor and I was also Editor of the local quarterly publication. CAREGiving sounded like the perfect job. I loved visiting the clients I was matched to and I became very attached to them.

The opportunity arose to apply for a full-time position in the office in May 2011. I have partaken in all the office roles over the years as we have grown and even qualified as a trainer along the way. I have worked with some talented people here at Home Instead and learnt so much from them – I am grateful to them all.

My passion is taking all the care enquiries, I listen and empathise with the situation because I totally understand how complex it can be sometimes, reaching a decision about what to do next to allow a loved one to stay safe and happy at home. I cannot describe how amazing it is to meet up after speaking on the phone and offering reassurance whilst knowing in my heart we do what we say we do.

We had a vacancy here for my current position and I was asked by Mike and Greg, our owners, to consider the role. The rest of the team encouraged me to take it and as I had such support I accepted – thank you, team! I am happy I did because I now have more opportunities to grow the business so we can help even more people to stay living well in their own homes.

I would urge anyone to become a CAREGiver if they have any spare time on their hands because I cannot describe the incredible feeling that making a difference gives you. Our training is bespoke and fantastic and looks at the opportunities it has given me!

I feel passionate about the Home Instead ethos and I know that matching CAREGivers to Clients in the ‘Home Instead Way’ is still unique. It is what drew me to work for Home Instead and continues to do so every year that passes!

I have over 30 years of experience in recruitment and obtained my qualifications with the REC of which I am a Fellow. I also have an NVQ 4 in Management and a Certificate in Personnel Practice.

Before joining Home Instead I worked for 11 years within the Health and Social Care sector as a Registered Manager. During this time I also managed a Specialist Nurses Division, recruiting Theatre Nurses, Prison Nurses, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Health Nurses and Learning Disability Nurses.

My experiences working within the healthcare sector have definitely been the most fulfilling. I am passionate about helping older people retain their independence and dignity and remain safely in their own homes. Selecting the right people to join our family of CAREGivers keeps me extremely busy but it is always interesting meeting new people and offering them the opportunity to join us and make a real difference to older people. I watch them grow in confidence and hear about the relationships they have with our clients and it makes me really proud of my role, connecting people and making them feel good.

I also help out at the memory cafe we run every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. This makes a change to being in the office but also gives me a chance to meet people who are coping with dementia and I try to brighten up their day if I can.

I get to meet and greet everyone who comes to our lovely office, so there is really never a dull moment in my working day. I share Home Instead's values and ethos and I know being part of the team, we all work hard to make all the difference we can.
