I have been a user of this service for 5 years and have been impressed by the quality of my carers, their versatility and timekeeping. The office back up is also of good quality, for instance in lettin me know about changes to carers schedule of visits.

Home Instead has provided care for my wife for nearly four years and has never disappointed. The caregivers are a major strength of the organisation - I have always found them to be friendly, reliable, helpful, thoughtful and punctual but last month one even exceeded my expectations! As she was leaving,
I stood up and promptly collapsed, badly twisting my knee and cutting my head open. The caregiver's response was magnificent, having made me comfortable and staunched the flow of blood she called for an ambulance and then searched my contact list to find some relatives close enough to help. She stayed on whilst I was taken off to A&E and organised the helpers to look after my wife before eventually making her own way home.
Home Instead can certainly be relied upon to respond well in an emergency situation!

What a wonderful endorsement of all that is great about Home Instead caregivers. Your words are so much appreciated and we are delighted you returned home after your trip to A & E and all was well. Thank you again!

Home Instead has changed my life. I look forward to the carers coming, although I can do a lot for myself, the extra help is very reassuring. I am less tired than I was when I did everything myself.
Thank you, Home Instead.

My Dad has Dementia and is recently widowed. His general health is OK, for his age, but his eyesight and hearing are both poor. As I live over 40 miles away, I was finding it difficult to look after my dad's needs and fit in with work and family commitments. Home Instead was recommended to me by a work
colleague and they have been an absolute Godsend.
The quality of the care my dad gets is excellent, it is noticeable that his general well being has improved as a result of the regular care visits he has been receiving. For my part, I have found that both the carers and the management team have been very well organised and we have a superb working relationship. As Dad's needs have changed, Home Instead have been quick to both inform me and adjust the care support provided. I am now able to not have to worry about how Dad is. I would strongly recommend Home Instead as an excellent care support agency.

We have found Southampton Home Instead to be a thoroughly professional and caring company. The management has shown great organisational skill to provide the level of care that we believed my mother required, at a time when they were already heavily committed. The level of patience and dedication of
the careers has been exceptional over the seven months that we have been using the Home Instead services. We are very happy that we managed to persuade them to take on the care of my mother at a time when we were finding it very difficult to find a solution to our needs.

Home Instead have provided care for my mother for the last few years and I honestly don't know how mum would stay living independently in her own home without them. The carer team give amazing continuity and their care is second to none. They add so much to mum's life and ensure she is happy and content.
The office staff too, are always so helpful and understanding and oversee the whole service really well. Thanks again to everyone!

Since contacting Home Instead, the whole family have been really impressed at the friendly and adaptive approach to providing care that Home Instead have provided since the middle of last year (2018). We initially contacted them to provide care to my mother-in-law and father-in-law, as my mother-in-law
was discharged from hospital with terminal lung cancer and my father-in-law has dementia. Since taking them on, all the carers have provided a sympathetic, calm and friendly approach to the care they provided. Since then, we have sadly lost my mother-in-law but they continue to provide a high level of care and compassion to my father-in-law, in particular with his dementia, they are patient and understanding with him. When you hear of some, quite frankly alarming stories about carers, I can say hand on heart, Home Instead provide a level of care that we, as the family, feel happy and confident that we chose the right team to provide the care that my in-laws deserve. We rate them highly.

Mum has been extremely pleased with the service received. The ladies that visit have taken time to chat with Mum and get to know her better. They listened to Mum during a period of loneliness. They will also undertake household chores as directed my very houseproud mum.

I first made contact with Home Instead at the end of Aug 2018 with a view to putting morning care in place for my mother. It started in September and from day 1 they have been a pleasure to deal with. We are now over 3 mths into this arrangement and they have never let my mother down. When I've asked
for additional help (e.g. hospital visits) they have gone out of their way to accommodate her requirements. Two ladies were nominated to supply care to my mother and both, as far as she is concerned have become 'friends'. She very much looks forward to their 'visits'! Care is never cheap and I'm sure Home Instead are not the cheapest in the area, but as with most things, you get what you pay for. From my perspective, my mother is getting value for money, not that she values the care she gets in monetary terms - from her perspective she now has 2 new 'friends' who are helping her with her daily needs. I can not praise or thank Home Instead enough. I am very happy to recommend them! 5* service!!

Home Instead provides a companion to visit my brother who lives in a residential care home. My brother looks forward to and enjoys the visits from the companion. It helps to stimulate his conversation and also it means he has the undivided attention of someone for a few hours.

The Home Instead companion

who visits my brother has got to know and understand him very well over the years. In fact, he knows my brother so well that, he is aware of when my brothers physical or mental well being is in decline. He passes on his observations to the Office Manager and she telephones me to let me know exactly what’s happening. Without Home Instead I wouldn’t know how my brother was. I live 140 miles away from my brother and there are no friends or family close enough to visit him.

My carers from Home Instead are very caring, efficient, friendly, punctual, organised and dedicated.
The carers take time in the morning so I can wake up at my own pace.
They treat me as an individual and I enjoy having conversations with them whilst they attend to my needs.
The managers in the office
are very approachable and email/ring my daughter promptly if they have any concerns about me.
New staff accompany my usual carer prior to their first visit so I can get to know them first.

Job Title: Head of Client Experience & Registered Manager

I was one of the first CAREGivers to join the Southampton office in July 2010. I was looking for a part-time job to enable me to integrate back into employment after spending the last ten years raising my three children. I had busied myself within the community as a Parish Councillor and I was also Editor of the local quarterly publication. CAREGiving sounded like the perfect job. I loved visiting the clients I was matched to and I became very attached to them.

The opportunity arose to apply for a full-time position in the office in May 2011. I have partaken in all the office roles over the years as we have grown and even qualified as a trainer along the way. I have worked with some talented people here at Home Instead and learnt so much from them – I am grateful to them all.

My passion is taking all the care enquiries, I listen and empathise with the situation because I totally understand how complex it can be sometimes, reaching a decision about what to do next to allow a loved one to stay safe and happy at home. I cannot describe how amazing it is to meet up after speaking on the phone and offering reassurance whilst knowing in my heart we do what we say we do.

We had a vacancy here for my current position and I was asked by Mike and Greg, our owners, to consider the role. The rest of the team encouraged me to take it and as I had such support I accepted – thank you, team! I am happy I did because I now have more opportunities to grow the business so we can help even more people to stay living well in their own homes.

I would urge anyone to become a CAREGiver if they have any spare time on their hands because I cannot describe the incredible feeling that making a difference gives you. Our training is bespoke and fantastic and looks at the opportunities it has given me!

I feel passionate about the Home Instead ethos and I know that matching CAREGivers to Clients in the ‘Home Instead Way’ is still unique. It is what drew me to work for Home Instead and continues to do so every year that passes!

I joined Home Instead in April 2013 and am responsible for CAREGiver recruitment.

I have over 30 years of experience in recruitment and obtained my qualifications with the REC of which I am a Fellow. I also have an NVQ 4 in Management and a Certificate in Personnel Practice.

Before joining Home Instead I worked for 11 years within the Health and Social Care sector as a Registered Manager. During this time I also managed a Specialist Nurses Division, recruiting Theatre Nurses, Prison Nurses, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Health Nurses and Learning Disability Nurses.

My experiences working within the healthcare sector have definitely been the most fulfilling. I am passionate about helping older people retain their independence and dignity and remain safely in their own homes. Selecting the right people to join our family of CAREGivers keeps me extremely busy but it is always interesting meeting new people and offering them the opportunity to join us and make a real difference to older people. I watch them grow in confidence and hear about the relationships they have with our clients and it makes me really proud of my role, connecting people and making them feel good.

I also help out at the memory cafe we run every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. This makes a change to being in the office but also gives me a chance to meet people who are coping with dementia and I try to brighten up their day if I can.

I get to meet and greet everyone who comes to our lovely office, so there is really never a dull moment in my working day. I share Home Instead's values and ethos and I know being part of the team, we all work hard to make all the difference we can.
