Home Instead Wetherby and North Leeds offer tailor-made home care and specialist dementia support to people living in their own homes.

Services including companionship, home help, personal care, medication support, postoperative, respite and rehabilitation, are personalised to the individual.

Specialist dementia and palliative care service work closely with local health care providers to enable non-medical support to reflect the individual’s needs and be of the highest quality.

Visits can be from one hour to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are provided by a team of professional CAREGivers who have undergone comprehensive training including City & Guilds accredited Alzheimer’s and dementia specialist training.

The CAREGivers are compassionate, skilled and trustworthy and the selection process ensures this as six references are obtained instead of the two required as an industry standard.

In addition, the CAREGivers have an enhanced (DBS) background check before they begin their employment.

CAREGivers are individually matched to clients on the basis of personality, interests and skills required.

The relationship of trust between the client and CAREGiver is fundamental to the provision of high-quality care so clients have a named CAREGiver at every visit.

On the first visit, a member of the management team will introduce the CAREGiver to the client and visits are arranged at a time convenient to the client.

The Management team makes regular quality assurance visits to ensure that the care being delivered matches the care plan. This ensures that they are able to react quickly to any change in clients circumstances or condition.

Have a look at the recommendations from clients and family members to see what people think and please do not hesitate to contact Home Instead Senior Care for further details and no obligation care consultation.

I broke my hips and live on my own and without the help and understanding of my carers, would not have completely recovered and regained my confidence. I cannot thank them enough.

I have been having two hourly visits from the same carer once a week. The purpose was to help me get over a long period of illness which had left me rather weak physically and wanting to increase my independence. A secondary objective was to relieve my husband of his constant care giving role. I am
now confident enough to walk into town unaccompanied and do dome light shopping. My husband no longer feels that he needs to worry if he leaves me on my own for a long period and that I can shop on my own.
The conversations have been both entertaining and uplifting.

Generally satisfactory - capable, reliable, pleasant and friendly. Some work harder than others but I have very few problems.

Home Instead really stepped up to the mark when my family needed them. After a sudden discharge from hospital Home Instead very quickly were able to start providing good quality care for my mother. They really cared about helping Mum but also in supporting the rest of the family as well. The arrangements
were quickly discussed and arranged with an agreed routine put in place which really helped mum. Any minor issues were taken seriously and quickly and efficiently resolved. We are all very happy with Home Instead and the staff, both carers and office based.

The care received from the staff at Home Instead was fantastic. It was clear that each of the carers genuinely cared. They treated my father with dignity and respect and kept him comfortable during his last days. If I had to go through this again I would choose Home Instead (Wetherby & North Leeds)
every time.

Thank you very much for your kind words. We are delighted to hear that we had such an impact on your father's life. The Care Professionals enjoyed attending to your father. It's always a pleasure to know that our efforts are recognised.

Training was abysmal and caused us unnecessary incidents as aftermath. This service was chosen because it offered one hour visits minimum. My father very much benefitted from the time to do care and have a chat. The quality varied between individuals but those who chose to really engage are also those
who have responded with deep regret about his passing. My father had no complaints about anybody. Management was poor, they did not follow up in general regarding any complaints or queries. Only once did I get a really efficient response and then she disappeared from management in two months. Communication from the front desk to management was not dealt with by management. Carers made a messaging group to communicate around clients which I appreciated.

Home Instead has been providing care for, initially, both my parents for four to five years. Then for my father until he passed away in April 2022. The majority of caregivers have been excellent and if unsuited the company would always arrange for an alternative. They have always endeavoured to provide
caregivers who could connect well with both my parents and particularly when my father was widowed, always going the extra mile with trips out, singing and music.

Home Instead supported Mum to live in an annexe to our house for 8 months. The first 3 months were a positive experience - Mum enjoyed getting to know care staff, her pressure areas improved and we shared the care well. Then Mum's dementia progressed, she developed some delusional that were difficult
to respond to and she cooperated less and less with her care. The staff and I tried our best and I think much of the time they tried strategies that would've worked with other people with dementia.

Reply from Simon White, Director at Home Instead (Wetherby & North Leeds)

Thank you for your kind review. It was a challenge for everyone in the latter stages but as you say, your mum appreciated the support when she was able to.

Home Instead provided care for my Dad over a two year period, in this time I found their caregivers to be respectful, caring and always allowed Dad to maintain his dignity. We were provided with a core of around 4-6 caregivers who were with us on a regular basis giving Dad the continuity and familiarity
he needed. Many of our caregivers became like extended family and provided us with support as were as Dad. Staff went above and beyond their remit to enhance my Dads life. Highly recommended

Home Instead Wetherby provides home care for my elderly in-laws, four days a week. The professional care and service they provide are wonderful. They come in twice a day to meet all their requirements. The care and compassion they show on a daily basis are just what we, as a family with elderly parents,
need. Several different carers attend their home on a weekly basis, but all do a lovely job equally. Knowing Home Instead is enabling them to live independently still means a lot to us all. Thank you.

I am a fairly new client of Home Instead having signed up for a once a week session to help with bathing my 93-year-old mother for whom I am the sole carer. My mother was most reluctant to have any outside help and was particularly unhappy about having assistance with bathing. I explained this to Home
Instead who assured me they would take things very gently and respect my mum's privacy. This they have done admirably. Just a few weeks in, my mum is confident enough for me to go out during the visits from Home Instead. It is my hope that in time I will be able to increase the visits to give me some time out. I have every confidence that this will happen.

I had many concerns prior to seeking support for my husband and myself. One major issue was the demand for the same person to attend, (obviously time off for holidays).
My concerns were unfounded, the carer is regular, reliable and has developed a great relationship with my husband, myself and wider
family.
As a health care professional myself I recognise the skills that the carer has are outstanding, person-centred, recognising the need to create the best experience for my husband regardless of his mood on the day.
Does what needs doing to ensure that the experience of the visit is positive for both my husband and me. Great.

Really pleased with the service. The carers in the main are the same people - all-important with memory loss. Easy to contact, easy to talk to and they go the extra mile. Had an issue with delivered prescription medication and Home instead helped sort it out with one carer even collecting a prescription
herself to help matters. They also identify problems and get on top of it. They were recommended to me and I have had very few issues. I would recommend their service and thank the carers for what they do for my very elderly relative.

The service you provide has been vital in enabling me to remain independently with my dog, in my own home. I have been very satisfied with everything. The older carers, in particular, are most adaptable and competent. I have made my feelings known to others in my position and would be happy for you
to see my recommendation.

I have been amazed at the regularity of the carers coming, even during bad weather in the dark along unlit roads, even completing the journey on foot. If I have to phone the office, the staff are so very pleasant and helpful. Above all, the 95-year-old that I care for has a host of new friends (her
carers) whom she loves!

Fantastic care given to our mum at home with good communication by Home Instead carers who go above and beyond to help and made her daily life easier and happier.
Very special the love that has been shown for mum's individual needs due to struggles with dementia and mobility and often treating her
to fish and chips, her favourite supper from their own money and won't accept any payback.
Very caring and kind!
We can't thank Home Instead enough!

The team my mum has to help her with her daily personal care are fantastic. The intelligence and care of the area manager ensured my mum was matched with carers that would be compatible and great company and that is what Home Instead delivered. They have fast become extended family and been invaluable
support during a time of acute immobility for my mum, helping with personal care, boosting morale and being a friend. As a family, we are very happy with the professionalism and authenticity of the team as a whole. I can only recommend Home Instead as a reassuring, reliable, communicative and experienced company.

We have been using Home Instead for a long time now, to look after my Mother-in-law. She celebrated her 100th birthday last October. When the first lockdown came into play, we had a permanent carer in place. When the travel restrictions were announced, we had to get the lady home in a matter of 36 hours.
This is where Home Instead were amazing, and really were our saviours. Between our three regular carers, they all took it in turns to a sleepover, until we could employ another permanent carer. We now have a permanent carer, but still, our three regular ladies come at various times during the week and weekends. We are very fond of them all. Without Home Instead we would not have been able to keep my mother-in-law in her own home. If anyone asks us about care in the home, we would always recommend Home Instead.

Job Title: Director

Following 35 years of business experience in corporate roles with well-known brands working largely in the retail sector, I wanted to do something that would make a difference.

After experiencing the difficulty of finding high-quality care for my immediate family, I very much value the approach to senior care and independence that Home Instead offers so I joined the Home Instead Wetherby office in 2016. My role is to lead the Wetherby & North Leeds team, spread the word about the Home Instead experience, and run the business aspects of the operation.

Job Title: Care Manager

After previously working in adult social care for over 30 years, I took early retirement to care for a family member. I then decided to join Home Instead as a CAREGiver and loved the role so much that I wanted to develop my career. I used my skills to become a Care Service Manager looking after the Leeds area. I am now the Care Manager, overseeing all aspects of our car across Wetherby & Leeds. I really enjoy the contact with our clients and their families, so I can tailor the service we provide to their needs.

Job Title: Client Advisor

I have worked in the care my whole life - my first job at 14 years old was caring for those who need extra help. I took a break from care to try something different, raise my children and take care of ailing parents. However, care always called me back.

After settling for a few years after an international move with my two children from the United States to gap the distance to be with my husband, I started in care again with Home Instead. Now, two years on, I'm enjoying my new position as Client Advisor. In this role, I hope I can make your first steps into care at home more comfortable and eased.
