Having support from Bluebird Care (Milton Keynes) has greatly enhanced my quality of life and general well-being. Being able to have some time to myself, to meet a friend for coffee or visit the hairdresser makes a real difference. My husband thoroughly enjoys his time each week with the carer, who
has been brilliant. It has been so good to depend on the same member of staff coming each week and where a change has been necessary there has been good communication beforehand. The company has taken care to match the carer to the needs of the person.

Bluebird has enabled my 90-year-old mother to remain in her own home. Morning and evening care.
Staff are courteous and professional.
The coordinator is absolutely fantastic, keeping me fully up to date with any issues my mother may have.
Would 100% recommend Bluebird!

Bluebird carers looked after my mother for 12 months until she had to go into a care home in December 2020. The ladies were so good at looking after Mum that without their care and attention she would have had to go into a home much sooner. They were kind and thoughtful in the way they attended to
her needs, while also encouraging her to do things for herself. The manager kept the family fully informed of any concerns about Mum's health both by telephone and in writing. Equally any concerns of the family were dealt with immediately. I cannot thank Bluebird enough for the service they gave to Mum.

Bluebird carers were dedicated and careful to follow guidelines. My friend required simple care and support because of great vulnerability, Bluebird carers were willing to adapt to her particular needs, to keep me informed or the doctor informed of any concerns as appropriate.

Bluebird Care Milton Keynes provided care for my husband over a period of several years. During this time, it was a privilege to know some of the very special staff, who demonstrated professionalism to the highest degree, as well as having a dedicated, calming and affectionate approach to the many complex
facets of domiciliary care. Their training and knowledge in the use of the multitude of equipment provided by the occupational therapist was second to none and ensured that my husband could be transferred safely and comfortably from one room to the other, thus improving his quality of life. The end of life care provided by Bluebird was outstanding, not only ensuring my husband's comfort and wellbeing but also displaying a remarkable compassion and empathy towards me and other family members.

Thank you for the care you provided to my mother at her home in the last three years of her life. Your staff were fantastic, and my mother saw them as close friends, which she much appreciated. Despite the high circulating levels of Covid-19, she did not catch it. She wanted to stay at home, and her
wish was fulfilled. You were able to escalate the help she needed as her frailty worsened. Thank you from the depths of our hearts.

Bluebird has been looking after my wife for over 3 years now and they are the best!
My wife has 4 visits each day with two carers attending at each visit. There have been several staff changes over the years, as is true with all care agencies, but the level of care provided by Bluebird has never faltered.
The carers are always well presented in their company uniforms and arrive at the times agreed for each visit. Even so, the best of all plans is sometimes affected by unexpected emergencies that delay their arrival. In these cases, the office always calls to inform us and/or makes alternative arrangements. There is never a problem with us changing the time of a visit to suit external events or appointments (doctor's, dentist's, etc). Any issues that we have (not that there has been many) are dealt with to the satisfaction of all parties. Long may our relationship with Bluebird continue.

I have previously used three other care agencies and Bluebird excel in all areas of care, hard-working friendly, staff, professionalism, efficiency, communication.
They provide excellent staff who have obviously had a high standard of training and management go out of their way to fulfil all my requirements
even when it must be difficult to do so.
Their staff are also professional, efficient, caring, friendly, who never go even a few minutes earlier than the care time allocated.
Communication is excellent from management down to carers.
Very fair price structure with no additional travel costs added on.
I would highly recommend Bluebird Care.

David

David Howard

Job Title: Director

Joined: 2012

After graduating from university many years ago with a degree in Law, David joined the Ministry of Defence where he performed many roles including spells in consultancy, policy advice, the press office and as the senior civil servant overseeing Schools for the children of British military schools overseas. In 2011, he led a team to reduce the size of the MOD civil service by 25% and as part of that work managed to devise his own exit, so that he could change career and open Bluebird Care (Milton Keynes). His interest in the care sector started several years earlier when his sister suffered a catastrophic accident which left her quadriplegic. David is married with two grown-up children, five grandchildren and a dog. Hailing from Wales, David enjoys all sports and has had a lifelong love affair with Liverpool Football Club, which has caused him enjoyment and heartache in equal measure.


Catherine

Catherine Slater

Catherine grew up in Milton Keynes and lives in Newport Pagnell with her husband and three children. After graduating from the University of Liverpool with a degree in Modern History and Politics, Catherine worked in advertising sales for a London publishing house before travelling the world and then returning to university to study for a PGCE in secondary education.  She joined Bluebird Care in 2019 as an Assistant Director after working as head of the History department in a local secondary school for 10 years. 


Catherine has recently completed a Level 5 Leader in Adult Care Apprenticeship and is now a Director of Bluebird Care Milton Keynes responsible for the day-to-day running of the business. 


Kelly

Kelly Mennim

Job Title: Registered Care Manager

Joined: 2023

Kelly joined Bluebird Care in November 2023 as Deputy Care Manager, predominantly looking after the Northampton territory. She grew up in Cumbria before settling in Northampton in 2000. Kelly attended Northampton College completing a BTEC in Health and Social care and later went on to complete her level 3 NVQ. Kelly was a Quality Assurance Manager and then Deputy Manager for another care provider for nine years, undertaking many different roles and establishing herself in the private care sector.


Kelly took on the challenge of becoming Registered Manager for Bluebird Care Milton Keynes in December 2024 and is looking forward to her future within Bluebird Care. Kelly feels Bluebird is the perfect fit for her due to the shared ethos on person centred care and going the extra mile to make a difference to someone's life.


When not at work, Kelly is busy at home with her long-term partner, their two teenage daughters and two doggies!


Gemma

Gemma Wilson

Job Title: Supervisor

Joined: 2015

Gemma joined Bluebird Care as a care assistant in September 2015, Although it was her first job in care, she quickly grew into the role. After returning from maternity leave in 2017, she volunteered to join the office team and became a part-time coordinator.  She later took on the coordinator role full-time, although she continued to provide care to some of her long-term customers.  


More recently Gemma has taken on the role of Supervisor which has seen her move away from day-to-day rostering, focussing instead on arranging and overseeing care for our customers. She is often the first person customers will meet from Bluebird Care as she carries out the majority of new care assessments.
