Home Instead (Newcastle Upon Tyne), Jan 2021 and March 2018 CQC 'Outstanding', provides care that supports the emotional as well as the physical needs of each client. Tailored care supports a quality of life, contributing to the lives and dignity of vulnerable adults as well as their family and loved ones.

Versatile services can include assistance with bathing, dressing and eating, as well as helping with daily chores such as shopping and meal preparation. Caregivers also understand the importance of companionship and supporting independence.

Many at-home clients receive Home Instead Care as a result of a direct approach by their families, but they also have strong links with medical practices, social agencies and charities, which utilise their comprehensive services or recommend them to their clients.

Some of their work involves liaison with care homes and independent living centres providing individual residents with a higher level of care when extra help is needed. They can also provide valuable staff assistance during busy times of day or when staffing levels require some external support.

Whilst principal services involve the day-to-day care of older people in their own homes (and in care homes), they also provide a range of specialist services, which include Alzheimer's and dementia care, convalescence care - and respite care, for families who need a break from day-to-day caring duties.

It is difficult to put into words how much we appreciate everything Home Instead have done for my sister and our family. They were able to increase visits, including overnight, almost immediately. They had a fabulous team who would visit regularly and introducing anyone new was done with care and thought.
The carers wrote on the Portal and in my sister's diary, keeping the family up to date on a daily basis. We certainly got the impression from their notes that they enjoyed visiting her.
We all enjoy my sister's company as she has a lovely sense of humour. We will not forget the Home Instead Team and the care, kindness and giggles given to her. We know she enjoyed time with all the carers and will miss them; we will, as we felt very looked after too.
Many thanks to all at Home Instead. We can certainly recommend them as being cared for at home is always preferable.

Home Instead are a huge source of support to my mam but also to myself.
Their level of understanding and empathy is excellent along with their supportive ways of making a big difference in managing and caring for my mam.
I would like to mention her carers who work extremely hard in building trust
and companionship with mam, focusing on medication and meals, their comprehensive report offers great insight into mam's behaviours. The lady in the office is both professional and understanding making sure I'm kept up to date and her calmness and empathy are a huge support to me.

Home Instead in Newcastle looked after my dad while we were in the area for the weekend. I wanted to do a running event and also had a work lunch, and the carer provided care and companionship for Dad so I didn't need to worry.
My dad uses Home Instead where he lives and they are brilliant, they
put me in touch with their colleagues in a different branch and passed on his information. Without Home Instead, my dad's life would be a lot less happy and I would be more worried.

We organise Home Instead to help my 93-year-old mother-in-law with domestic help and companionship. After three months she couldn't be happier with the carers who visit her twice a week, two hours per visit. The quality of the domestic cleaning they do is of high quality and the care from the staff
who visit is very good too. This has made a difference to her life and ours.

We would like to pass on our thanks and appreciation for the ongoing help and support given to my mother-in-law so far. The care professionals are so kind and patient and put her at ease immediately when assisting her with daily tasks.
The client experience manager has also been very supportive both
in the initial consultation and the follow-up meetings.
Just recently we had a slight emergency where we required extra care as we were going away for the weekend and my mother-in-law was unwell. Home Instead came to our rescue within an hour, providing wrap-around care to provide support at key points during the day.
We feel we have made a good choice in selecting Home Instead for care in the home.

I have found all the staff to be courteous and helpful. The carer who visits Mum each week does an excellent job and the service review carried out by another staff member was highly satisfactory. I would recommend Home Instead to anyone needing their service.

Mum received care for a few months. She was always so well cared for with the utmost professionalism.
Carers alerted me to a sudden decline in Mum's health which ensured swift medical attention. We will forever be grateful to them.

Home Instead has lived up to its excellent reputation and I have used your services before. I was impressed with the initial evaluation visit where our talkative neighbour was well-managed and warmly listened to. We agreed to wait until suitable carers could be found for the times we requested and their
expertise. They are outstanding, fulfilling all our requirements to enable our neighbour to stay in her home safely and comfortably. Our neighbour loves and appreciates their attention. My relationship with them and their managers is professional and mutually respectful. This is a well-organised cooperative, adaptable service; the promises made in your excellent brochure are enacted. You have recruited high-quality carers and a manager who operates professionally and compassionately. My neighbour is treated in a dignified, kind and caring manner by you all. You are never patronising. I know you will adapt to and accommodate her changing needs going forward.
Perhaps I should put my name down for your outstanding care now.
Thank you.

We would like to thank Home Instead for helping us to support our mother. This support is ensuring that she can remain in her own home where she wants to be. The professional carers are patient, kind and thoughtful. The admin team are excellent - nothing is too much trouble, even when I get dates mixed
up. Everything is done with a smile. Please pass on our sincere thanks to all the team members involved in caring for Mum. Gold stars all round!

We have been using Home Instead for several years. The care has been excellent with very high standards. Alongside caring for my dad, they provided companionship. A big plus is that they have low turnover of staff so my dad sees familiar faces which is important. Communication is excellent and frequent.

We are currently using Home Instead (Newcastle Upon Tyne) to offer care to our aged parents (97 and 89 years old) who are still living in their own home.
I do not believe this would still be possible without Home Instead, who have been amazing from the beginning.
Everything was fully explained to
us about what is offered and the carers have arrived punctually on each visit.
Thanks for all your help which has allowed my parents to live their later years in their home which has made it easier for me.

Two carers excellent, one outstanding. Knew and had contact with people who use Home Instead. Not happy that on bank holidays rates are double, think time and a half would be more appropriate as hourly rates has already gone up.
Contacted Home Instead to complain about one carer who left me in tears.

Since my parents left hospital and then a rehab home after serious falls and confusion I did not imagine they would manage at home again, but Home Instead (Newcastle Upon Tyne) have supported them and myself all along the way.
The care provided has been organised, professional, intuitive and compassionate.
My parents are always treated with dignity and respect and their overall experience has been outstanding. Thank you, Home Instead.

We had been using Home Instead one day a week for companionship for my husband for around four years, taking him out for lunch and short walks in the country and coast, he has really enjoyed the caregivers' company.
Suddenly this April I had a fall resulting in a full hip replacement and being instructed
by my surgeon that I would be unable to do any care for a minimum of 6 months!
Having been my husband's full-time carer for 8 years this was a shock.
The Home Instead team, working with his PA and daughter immediately went into action and within a week had in place a team of caregivers 24/7, I cannot speak more highly of their professionalism, resulting in keeping him at home with his Alzheimer's sadly progressively deteriorating.
Thank you to the whole Home Instead team.

Could not rate this agency higher. From my first dealings with staff regarding what we were looking for, to a site visit by another member of staff and care, the team were excellent. They showed a real care and understanding of our situation and did their utmost to meet our needs in the most professional
and friendly manner. Our carer was empathetic, kind and helpful and we could not have wished for a better experience. Would highly recommend and use again. Thank you!

Home Instead (Newcastle Upon Tyne) have cared for my wife, who has Alzheimer’s disease, and supported me for over nine years. We are both in our eighties. Initially, it was companionship but over the last three years it has been full-on nursing care, this is particularly so for the last year now my
wife is totally bedridden. We have two really outstandingly good, dedicated caregivers who are devoted to doing their best for my wife and supporting me. The caregivers relate so well to my wife who clearly enjoys their company. One caregiver has been with us for the full nine years and the other for over two years. They have made all the difference to our quality of life. Further, the friendly and very helpful office staff and senior management have gone out of their way to meet our ever increasing care needs, particularly this last year. Home Instead (Newcastle Upon Tyne), for us, most certainly lives up to its motto ‘To us it is personal’.

The care package for my parents was put in place extremely quickly, Homecare visited my parents to meticulously identify their needs and to select the professional carers which would fit the personality of my parents. My parents have previously employed a different care company and Home Instead (Newcastle
Upon Tyne) is far superior and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this company. I have personally met each of my parent's carers and they are extremely professional and efficient, my parents enjoy the interaction with them and as elderly people do, love the continuity of the same carers each week.

I am the owner and the registered Care Manager for Home Instead Senior Care Newcastle upon Tyne. The company specialises in providing care for older people in their own homes. I have had many years of experience having spent 30 years as a nurse with the NHS.

‘‘Having worked as a nurse I fully understand what a positive impact the right sort of care can make to a person’s life. Our service allows people to remain in their own homes, which is where most people wish to remain. Our care looks after the individual’s physical as well as emotional needs, providing companionship, interaction and stimulation and this is exactly what our elderly community needs. Our care is tailored to the needs of each individual and we can make a real difference to the quality of life of not only our clients, but their families too.”

Home Instead services include personal care such as assistance with bathing, dressing, eating and medications; home help covering all aspects of day-to-day housework, shopping, meal preparation and household duties plus companionship services from escorting clients to appointments through to simple conversation and good company.

Our Caregivers are chosen for their caring respectful approach along with their dependability and willingness to match their valuable life experience with the excellent training Home Instead Senior Care has to offer. We believe in ‘care for the Caregivers’ and that investment in their professional and personal resources is also an investment in the kind of quality service we aim to deliver. We aspire to be the "employer of choice" for anyone seeking to build a career in care in Newcastle upon Tyne or hoping to give something back by committing to a job in care.

The company is part of a national network recognized as one of the UK’s leading in home care. Their philosophy is simple, to provide a service which will enable older people to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible while improving their quality of life.

In my current role, I am involved on a day to day basis with the running of the business and in particular the recruitment of our CAREGivers. I am acutely aware that the quality of the people you employ are crucial to the service you provide. We offer the best service to our clients this means we need to employ the best people. We recruit and train our own. For each CAREGiver we go through a lengthy process, we need to ensure they all need to have the right character traits. We can and do our own training in small groups we need to ensure our CAREGivers have the knowledge to complement their caring nature. We need their employment history and all have full enhanced disclosure clearance. All our CAREGivers need to have six references three personal and three professional. The recruitment process can be over a number of weeks but for good reason, we need the right people. Of course, everyone has different skills, abilities and personalities therefore we match our CAREGivers with our clients. However, I can confidently say that because we only employ the ‘right’ people I would send every CAREGiver we employ to my own parents.
