Home Instead (Newcastle Upon Tyne), Jan 2021 and March 2018 CQC 'Outstanding', provides care that supports the emotional as well as the physical needs of each client. Tailored care supports a quality of life, contributing to the lives and dignity of vulnerable adults as well as their family and loved ones.

Versatile services can include assistance with bathing, dressing and eating, as well as helping with daily chores such as shopping and meal preparation. Caregivers also understand the importance of companionship and supporting independence.

Many at-home clients receive Home Instead Care as a result of a direct approach by their families, but they also have strong links with medical practices, social agencies and charities, which utilise their comprehensive services or recommend them to their clients.

Some of their work involves liaison with care homes and independent living centres providing individual residents with a higher level of care when extra help is needed. They can also provide valuable staff assistance during busy times of day or when staffing levels require some external support.

Whilst principal services involve the day-to-day care of older people in their own homes (and in care homes), they also provide a range of specialist services, which include Alzheimer's and dementia care, convalescence care - and respite care, for families who need a break from day-to-day caring duties.

The care package for my parents was put in place extremely quickly, Homecare visited my parents to meticulously identify their needs and to select the professional carers which would fit the personality of my parents. My parents have previously employed a different care company and Home Instead (Newcastle
Upon Tyne) is far superior and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this company. I have personally met each of my parent's carers and they are extremely professional and efficient, my parents enjoy the interaction with them and as elderly people do, love the continuity of the same carers each week.

Home Instead, Gosforth was a pleasure to deal with. The initial introductory meeting was thorough and resulted in a most appropriate choice of carers who treated my mother (ninety-nine) with friendly respect and when necessary, encouragement. The office staff were unfailingly polite and helpful.

I started using Home Instead to act as a Carer/Companion for my mum who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and as a result she could sometimes be lonely and missed the hustle and bustle of what was once a lively house. I met with staff at Home Instead and we arranged for some additional support to be put
in place for my mum. In fairness all carers were very good, however, there was one that my mum seemed to take a particular liking too.
She has transformed my mum's life and having described to staff what my Mum liked in people they certainly found the right person for the role. She is extremely professional and is such a caring individual, that my parents describe her as part of the family now. She will often go that extra mile and what I consider to be above and beyond her role title and has shown great compassion for my parents. I have complete confidence in her ability and I would not hesitate to recommend both her and Home Instead as a provider of care.

Prior to my mother going into a residential care home, her care throughout the weekdays for almost two and a half years was delivered by Home Instead.
Visits for an hour each morning and afternoon, where the welfare of my mother was overseen by carers who provided friendly and first-class service,
were invaluable to my mother and family and went a long way to alleviating a lot of my anxiety and concerns.
The management team at Home Instead were always helpful with any questions I might have and, during the periods of lockdown, where at times, they suffered from staff shortages, they always ensured that there would be a carer available for each home visit.

Home Instead have been caring for my mother for the last 18 months and I can say they have offered myself and my sister comfort that mother is being cared for daily. It means spreading the burden between carers and family is a great balance. My mother has nothing but good things to say about the carers
this also offers her family assurance she is being looked after.

The carers treated my grandma with great kindness and respect and were extremely helpful. The consistency in care was excellent as was the communication with the carers and the office team. The carers offered a full service of care and were extremely trustworthy. I always felt like she was well cared
for and it took a weight off our minds knowing we could trust the care team.

The staff were fantastic from meeting with my step-mum and me to her first meeting with my Dad when he came out of hospital placing the best carers with us all the way through till he passed away in February this year.
We were lucky to have an incredible carer as Dad's primary carer and I could not
recommend her more highly, the number of times I'd hear the pair of them laughing when dad wasn't in the best of health was incredible. She was so caring, compassionate and knowledgeable about how to deal with every situation. As dad's health deteriorated she was assisted by another carer who was great and also another who was also outstanding.
Many thanks for everything.

Home Instead provided my father with outstanding care in his home enabling him to live a happy, safe and independent life after suffering a stroke. Their staff are professional and caring and it's been very reassuring to know his carers have visited daily to check he is well, provide company and help
with meal preparation and household tasks. I don't know what we would have done without them. Thank you.

I can’t speak highly enough of the Home Instead (Newcastle Upon Tyne) care team and everything they do for my dad. They are amazing with him and we as a family, are incredibly grateful to them. I have seen how well dad responds to the carers and he obviously enjoys the time he spends with them on their
trips out. The respite my mum gets from their care and attention to dad is very much appreciated. I think it’s also important to note how invaluable they have been over the last twelve months, making an incredibly difficult and stressful time during the pandemic bearable.

Since dad has been cared for by Home Instead (Newcastle Upon Tyne) my sister and I feel we have peace of mind. All dad’s carers are fantastic! They have made it their business to build a relationship with him in their own unique way and he can tell me what he likes and appreciates each individual and
what they uniquely bring to his care. The Home Instead (Newcastle Upon Tyne) office also provide the most excellent support. Someone is always there with a friendly, calm manner and the offer of help. With my sister and I both living in different cities from dad, I have phoned about numerous things, big and small and every time I am left feeling reassured, knowing that the situation will be sorted out. Not only this, but the Home Instead (Newcastle Upon Tyne) management know dad and make suggestions about what kind of support he might need. For example, they recently referred him for some occupational therapy help. This is the type of approach and service which, in my view, makes Home Instead (Newcastle Upon Tyne) stand out from other care providers.

My mother was a client with Home Instead Senior Care over two periods, the first for a period of 8 months in 2019 and the second in 2020-2021 for 5 months. On each occasion, the carers were almost always punctual and if they were running even slightly late, I would be informed. They were caring and
always treated my mother with dignity. They would contact me if there were any problems whilst they were with her. Their record-keeping was excellent and they would remind me in the notes if she was in need of anything eg. tablets. Sadly, my mother died in February 2021, but with the home care, she managed to remain happily in her own home until 4 weeks before she died, which was what she dearly wanted.

Home Instead provided excellent care for my husband, enabling him to stay at home until the end. The carers were professional and friendly and we enjoyed their company. My husband had a complex health condition, which brought its challenge, and Home Instead did everything they could to meet his needs,
treating him with care, compassion, dignity and good humour. My family and I are so very grateful. Thank you for making my husband’s last few months so comfortable and at home.

Since taking over the care of my parents from another care provider The Home Instead staff have demonstrated they are better in every department. There have been a number of times when different members of their team have gone beyond what might be expected of them to ensure good outcomes for my family.
They have been open to suggestions and have looked to improve any aspect of the care from the beginning. I find every member of staff I encounter pleasant and caring. They have great attitudes in carrying out their work, and I feel my parents are in very safe hands. I congratulate each one of them for their dedication and application. Caring is a special job and to see it done well for your own parents feels great.

Home Instead have truly been our saviour, both for my elderly parents (my father is aged 95 and my mother suffers from advanced dementia) as well as for me, as a daughter who was struggling to support my parents from afar. We have been using Home Instead’s services for two years now, following a fall
and a situation involving very independently-minded parents, who were resisting help, but were nevertheless clearly not coping. In our hour of need, Home Instead swooped in and changed everything for us. Their philosophy of helping vulnerable people to continue to live at home, in a supported way, has worked very well for my parents: they still feel very independent, but they are looked after. The quality of care they receive is superb: I cannot praise Home Instead’s Coordinator, and our dedicated team of carers enough – they are available, well organised, professional, flexible and, most importantly incredibly kind people. I truly couldn't ask for a better or more appropriate care.

My aunt has needed 24-hour care since coming out of the hospital last November. The carers have been excellent. The level of care and professionalism given to her is very impressive.
I know she is very happy with the service they give. It is comforting to see her face light up when they arrive for
their shift.
I have had several discussions with the management, who are always so helpful and answer any questions I may have.
I would not hesitate to recommend them.

After Dad died suddenly, I needed to put daily care into place for Mam who is living with Alzheimer’s. Still living at home, specialist care is an absolute necessity for medication, making a hot lunch and help around the home. I interviewed two service providers and from the outset, Home Instead stood
out as the most professional of the two. This was reassuring for me, living 4 hours away.
The ladies go in for two hours a day and take Mam for any diabetic or podiatry appointments and for weekly visits to the hairdressers. They know Mam so well, she can be stubborn but they can be persuasive in getting her out and about. After medical appointments, they may pop her out for a run around the coast. This brings back great memories of her times with Dad.
The ladies are always prompt and the office staff helpful and easy to contact.
Home Instead are not the cheapest service provider, but you pay for what you get, in that generally, they go the extra mile. Their service is very reassuring for me.

Home Instead are giving my mother fantastic care. The carers are knowledgeable, kind and thoughtful. They are able to adapt to changing situations with flexibility.
I believe this comes from such good management and care in choosing the right carers who will work in this way. Ringing up the office
I am always greeted warmly and am able to discuss any issues and these are promptly addressed ( e.g need for medication changes).
All members of staff are clearly working to really understand the complex needs to support my parents in their home. They are able to liaise with other professionals when needed.
I am delighted with the care being given. In my work, I visit many people at home and have to discuss issues with carers and this team are way ahead of others I have encountered professionally.

Our excellent Home Instead caregiver has come two full days a week for the last three and a half years to look after my wife who has Alzheimer's disease. My wife looks forward to, clearly benefits from and really enjoys these care days. Besides the professional care provided, comes so much more, my
wife, who has limited mobility is taken out for lunch and gentle shopping sorties, a lovely meal is prepared for us each evening plus future meals in the deep freeze and the household tasks brought up to date. On these days I totally switch off and go out knowing that my wife is not only expertly cared for but having a special day for her too. I cannot emphasise too much how important having this very good, totally reliable and dedicated caregiving is to my maintaining a decent way of life and coping as a full-time carer myself.

I am the owner and the registered Care Manager for Home Instead Senior Care Newcastle upon Tyne. The company specialises in providing care for older people in their own homes. I have had many years of experience having spent 30 years as a nurse with the NHS.

‘‘Having worked as a nurse I fully understand what a positive impact the right sort of care can make to a person’s life. Our service allows people to remain in their own homes, which is where most people wish to remain. Our care looks after the individual’s physical as well as emotional needs, providing companionship, interaction and stimulation and this is exactly what our elderly community needs. Our care is tailored to the needs of each individual and we can make a real difference to the quality of life of not only our clients, but their families too.”

Home Instead services include personal care such as assistance with bathing, dressing, eating and medications; home help covering all aspects of day-to-day housework, shopping, meal preparation and household duties plus companionship services from escorting clients to appointments through to simple conversation and good company.

Our Caregivers are chosen for their caring respectful approach along with their dependability and willingness to match their valuable life experience with the excellent training Home Instead Senior Care has to offer. We believe in ‘care for the Caregivers’ and that investment in their professional and personal resources is also an investment in the kind of quality service we aim to deliver. We aspire to be the "employer of choice" for anyone seeking to build a career in care in Newcastle upon Tyne or hoping to give something back by committing to a job in care.

The company is part of a national network recognized as one of the UK’s leading in home care. Their philosophy is simple, to provide a service which will enable older people to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible while improving their quality of life.

In my current role, I am involved on a day to day basis with the running of the business and in particular the recruitment of our CAREGivers. I am acutely aware that the quality of the people you employ are crucial to the service you provide. We offer the best service to our clients this means we need to employ the best people. We recruit and train our own. For each CAREGiver we go through a lengthy process, we need to ensure they all need to have the right character traits. We can and do our own training in small groups we need to ensure our CAREGivers have the knowledge to complement their caring nature. We need their employment history and all have full enhanced disclosure clearance. All our CAREGivers need to have six references three personal and three professional. The recruitment process can be over a number of weeks but for good reason, we need the right people. Of course, everyone has different skills, abilities and personalities therefore we match our CAREGivers with our clients. However, I can confidently say that because we only employ the ‘right’ people I would send every CAREGiver we employ to my own parents.
