Right at Home are always very helpful when I have to email them or telephone with any changes to my Mum’s care plan.

It was always understood that my care would be relatively short term. Nothing was too much trouble and when I wanted my care tweaked this was never any problem. The care workers always arrived on time and were so friendly and caring. I am quite sad not to have them coming, but they have certainly bolstered
my confidence.

Thank you for your kind words, we were very happy to help you to regain your confidence, and are pleased that you were so happy with your care team.

Thank you isn't a big enough word to express how my mum has benefitted from her early morning and bedtime support visits from the Right At Home carers. They have been professional, kind, thoughtful and friendly. Mum will miss them very much when she moves into a nursing home.

I have found that Right at Home have been very responsive to the changing needs of my father. They have acted swiftly to provide an increased level of care when required. Each carer works to develop a good relationship with my dad. The communication has been great - letting the family know when something
unexpected occurs. It's very reassuring to know that we can rely upon the support that my dad is given by Right at Home and that it is of a standard that, at the moment, is enabling him to remain in his own home.

I look after my aunt from 150 miles away and needed somebody on the spot to take care of details. I gave Right at Home a list of the things we needed them to check on and this has been achieved with sensitivity by the carer, who quickly established a rapport with my aunt, being aware of her need to
still feel in control. The management has been extremely helpful in arranging a carer to accompany my aunt to her many appointments, sometimes with last-minute changes. I am extremely satisfied with all aspects of the service.

I’ve been with Right at Home for a number of years now and have always found them to be a reliable and trustworthy care company, staffed by individuals who epitomise the title of carer. During this last unique and alarming year we’ve all been going through, it’s been even more important that someone
I know and who knows me will be coming to help me with kindness, compassion and a smile (even though it’s hidden behind a mask!).

We have been using Right at Home (Derby) for the past few months for my dad. They carry out a variety of tasks on each visit, such as cooking, ironing and companionship. These tasks, which I requested, were discussed at an initial meeting to ensure the care given to my dad meets his needs. If I felt
some tasks needed to be changed, this was amended on my dads care plan promptly. It is excellent, I have log in details to see how each visit has been, which the caregiver writes up. My dad has commented on a number of occasions how he enjoys the caregiver's company and the food they cook for him. It has definitely given myself and my siblings peace of mind knowing my dad is being looked after on each visit and getting the correct care he needs. I would definitely recommend this care company as the caregivers and coordinators have been excellent.

All your carers have been dedicated and professional. They have good judgement of when to lighten the mood and when more gravitas is required. Nothing is too much trouble and no one ever said they needed to hurry off to their next visit before they had properly looked after my mum that day. They all
truly care - which is apparent in all their decisions, suggestions and actions. I could not be more grateful for their support over these last few months. Thank you.

We have only used your service twice for respite care, but the care my Mum received was second to none. We asked for the same young lady on the second instance and were lucky enough to have her for all the calls. This was great as Mum likes her very much and trusted her, as did we. The office team I
have had dealing with has also been amazing. Thank you so much.

Every aspect of this service is first class. Setting up the visits was very personal, taking into account Mum's needs, ensuring she was given choice in the type of care to be given. The carers are lovely and kept to a small team for continuity of care ensuring Mum gets to know them and they build up
a relationship with Mum. Always available on the phone for any queries and staff extremely helpful and friendly. It's great to see via my phone how Mum's visits have gone, giving me peace of mind. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Right at Home to anyone.

I first contacted Right at Home in January 2019 regarding supporting my 85-year-old dad. RAH initially visited only three hours a week but as my father's health declined and after a long spell in hospital they offered intensive home support in June 2019. My dad's health needs were complex and RAH went
"the extra mile" liaising with various NHS professionals and often staying at the bungalow for lengthy periods when my dad was clearly unable to meet his basic needs. I always felt that RAH showed a good caring attitude, communicated well and worked well between myself and the NHS services. My father is now in 24/7 nursing care. Yes, I would recommend RAH to anyone who is going through this difficult process as a carer or client.

I live with my wife who is 87, confined to wheelchair and bed. We have been under the care of Right at Home for approximately two and a half years, this being our first and only need for care. My wife requires four one hour visits per day from a caregiver.
These ladies, receive excellent training before
attending homes on their own, and the company's plan of sending them out as shadows to an experienced Carer, is, in my opinion, an excellent policy benefiting client and newcomer alike.
Finally, I should like to add that we both look forward to the majority of our caregivers coming, who, almost without exception perform their duties cheerfully with great care
and attention It would be almost impossible not to have made good friends with several of them!

Hi Maurice, thank you for the kind words. We are very pleased to have helped support your wife over the past few years. The care team enjoy visiting and the office team are always appreciative of your support with her scheduling needs. Looking forward to many more years care and support.

My mum has been using Right at Home for over a year now. I am very happy with the service provided. Mum has dementia and was extremely reticent about the need for any care at all. All the carers have been very patient with her and her changing demands over the year. Mum now has many issues and these
are all dealt with kindly and with a great deal of patience. The carers even go looking for her in the local shop if she is not at home when they call! Mum is happiest if she has the same carers at the same times so she can try to get to know them. Right at Home always try to keep any changes to a minimum.
Whenever I have to call the office (which can be quite often), whoever answers the phone is very understanding of the situation and always helps as best they can. The same can be said for when Mum phones the office (which is also quite often). I would wholeheartedly recommend Right at Home.

By providing caregivers that are a similar age to me and have similar interests, I have found that Right at Home has surpassed my expectations of receiving care in the best way. I feel as though I have made friends throughout my 3 years with the company and feel as though any problems were dealt with
in a prompt and understanding manner. I am very grateful for everything, thank you!

We have been very impressed with Right at Home who have provided an outstanding quality of service so far. They are well organised and show attention to detail and everyone who we’ve dealt with has been polite and helpful. Likewise, the ongoing accounts, following each care visit, which we can access
daily online, are very reassuring and quickly highlight any issues that require attention, keeping us fully informed even though I work long hours. The carers are excellent, going over and above where necessary and my uncle speaks very highly of them. They are thorough and intuitively meet his needs and their caring approach, respect and attention to detail have helped to ease him into the process of care, with which he now feels much more comfortable. This ongoing care has started to give my uncle some of his independence back and he is noticeably more confident. Many thanks Right at Home.

John

John Houghton

Job Title: Managing Director

John started Right at Home Derby in 2012 after a long and successful career with an industry-leading family-run business.

Taking up the opportunity to spend time in his community, John was elected as a local councillor in Willington.

It was during a community event that John came across an elderly local parishioner who was reliant on care from a contracted provider. The parishioner was looking for help with getting a reliable service provider who would turn up on time, stay for the full time allocated and have some consistency with the care worker they were receiving.

Whilst trying to help the parishioners with their simple request, John realised that their case was not unique and that there were a lot of people who would benefit from a more personalised and quality service.

Determined to make a difference, John decided to use his experience of growing a quality customer-focused business and translate these into the Home Care sector.
Working alongside a dedicated care team, he is passionate about delivering quality care to the people of Derbyshire.

John is now an active member promoting choice and personalisation within Derbyshire and Staffordshire and sits on the management committee of Derby Care Association which works to provide support to local providers and to improve the social care sector in Derby.

John is a recognised Dementia Friends and is training to be a local champion. John also supports Royal Derby Hospitals Dementia Action Group and works with local support group Making Space to help support people within Derby and Staffordshire.

The goal of Right at Home (Derby) is simple:

To allow your loved ones to remain in their homes for as long as possible.
To add years to the lives of your loved ones, but as importantly, to add quality and life to those years.
In practice, this means:

Turning up on time and at a time that is convenient for the customer.
Travelling in our time and not within the customer's allocated time.
Supplying the same friendly home care assistant on each call.
Each call will ideally last for at least 1 hour.
Each call is built on outcome-based activities to improve the quality of life of the individual.
Away from work, John enjoys spending time with his wife and being a permanent taxi driver to his 5 children.
