We have been using the service of Home Instead Durham for over 4 years. Unfortunately my nana now requires 24/7 care so has had to go into a Care Home. It is due to the staff at Home Instead we have been able to keep my Nana in her home for so long.
The management at Home Instead have always tried
to ensure the same care givers are timetabled to Nana, this is despite her needs changing over the years. This has allowed for an amazing relationship to be built up.
The care and support given to nana over the years has always been outstanding, not only did they do her jobs, personal care and take her shopping, they provided daily companionship to her while family had to work.
As a family we couldn't recommend Home Instead more highly - they are an outstanding company who really do care about their clients individual needs. Thank you.

My carers have worked hard and have helped me to see that I can go forward. Needed help to realise a purpose in my life. They helped me cope and raised my spirits by their caring and progressive attitude to my situation. When returning from hospital, they worked so hard for me and with me. My thanks
to my group of carers and the office staff at Home Instead. 20 out of 10 for caring and for helping to encourage me. Love to you all.

The service provided by Home Instead is truly superb. Every aspect from communication with the management team to the care given to my mum has been excellent. My mum's needs have changed over the past year and the increased level of care has been very much the result of joint discussions with the team,
including things noticed by the carers in the home. The care has enabled mum to stay in her own home which is what she wants. As a family we are reassured that she has daily contact with skilled staff who understand her needs. Mum loves their company and looks forward to the visits. The team are really responsive too, replying promptly to any emails, adjusting the care as needed. Basically nothing is too much trouble. They are invested in mum, wanting her to be comfortable and happy. I cannot recommend Home Instead, Durham highly enough. A brilliant service all round.

Home Instead continue to provide excellent care for my mother. She has received daily care input for over 18 months and they have adapted and adjusted to her changing care needs. Staff are all trained and updated with any equipment such as stand-aids, and have provided suggestions for further adaptations
that have improved her ease of transfers.
The service is very friendly and personal. My mother looks forward to visits as the carers provide so much more than just meeting her personal care needs as they also provide companionship and genuinely care for her. I can't recommend Home Instead Durham highly enough.

Until recently the team has taken great care of my mother-in-law calling in every day to take care of her needs to enable her to live independently. The core team of three worked well together setting up a simple system to ensure all tasks were taken care of.
The office staff were always helpful whenever
I needed to speak to them to make changes to her care and had my mother-in-law's circumstances stayed the same we would have still been using their services.
I can't thank the team enough, you gave us peace of mind when we couldn't pop in, and having your support was a godsend to us.

My mam loves the carer's visits, she's a very social person and enjoys chatting to someone other than myself. They're always kind, friendly and very conscientious with raising any concerns regarding Mam's welfare.
Recently they have helped organise an admiral nurse and from there I've been able to
visit a social group for both myself and mam. I feel this was above and beyond expectations, thank you.

My husband and I were so pleased that we used Home Instead when my mum needed care.
The whole team was empathetic, caring, professional, and always went the extra mile. The app gave us a daily report of Mum's health and welfare.
The office staff were always available to answer a phone call.
The carers
were so kind and so patient with my mum. She loved them. Unfortunately Mum felt she needed 24-hour care and at her request, she has moved into a care home. I had so hoped she would manage at home with the assistance of Home Instead. Care is expensive but we felt the whole team at Home Instead gave value for money and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I have only praise for the Home Instead team looking after, and coordinating, the care for our parents, who both suffer from, dementia. They have differing needs, but the care professionals are able to attend to each of their needs and our parents are also very comfortable with the care they receive.
They deal with personal needs, hygiene requirements and meal preparation, cleaning and all the other tasks that are required with utmost professionalism, kindness and each care professional has their own high standards. The care provided is not intrusive and without it, we have no doubt that our parents would not be able to remain in their own home. We have enjoyed a good relationship with all the care professionals and we trust them. They always prompt us when additional needs arise, whether temporary or not, and this is important to us as needs are evolving and we are not present on a daily basis, but they are.

We are so pleased we had Home Instead recommended to us. Everything is of the highest standard. There is great attention to detail. We have every confidence in them and they provide a great sense of safety and security to both the client and relatives. Best and most important of all are the staff, both
carers and administrative. They are such lovely, caring, friendly, professional and skilled people who very quickly build up excellent relationships with both client and relatives. Nothing is ever too much bother and they go above and beyond. They are very approachable. The telephone is answered instantly, at whatever time, by a friendly, sympathetic member of staff who is ready to listen and who takes speedy action, if required. Great care is taken in the drawing up of a bespoke, individual care plan to cater for the client's needs and wishes. It is also good to have carers and administrators, who obviously enjoy their work. We have no reservations at all in recommending Home Instead.

I was recommended this company by a family member and we have been suitably impressed with the professionalism, quality of care and friendship they have brought to my parent’s life. The peace of mind this has given us as a family can only be described as invaluable. The management team have been exemplary
as have the carers. What impresses me is the mutual appreciation of both for each other- rarely seen in most companies. Well done Home Instead- no hesitation in recommending.

We have been using Home Instead for over 6 months now to help my mother in the morning. My mum is so happy with her care. The carers are kind and respectful to all my mum's needs.
They have also helped in the home which has helped me, so I can spend a shorter time cleaning the kitchen and doing some
washing. I like the portal so I can check on Mum every day. Overall I would recommend Home Instead to anyone who needs professional carers.

I have nothing but praise for the carers and administrators of Home Instead Durham. They go out of their way to assist my Mother, now 93, and are always available for advice and support. They help with solving any issues and are true solutionaries, coming up with practical ways to overcome challenges
and looking after every aspect of my mother's needs. I have had experiences with other care providers, Home Instead may be a bit more expensive but they are worth every penny. As I live outside the UK having honest, professional, quality care is essential for our peace of mind.

The carers that look after Mum are great, they keep in touch with me and let me know how things are going and if Mum has run out of anything and give me peace of mind that not only do I know Mum is spending some time with someone during the day but that they are also looking after her needs and helping
us out by keeping on top of Mum's flat too. Don't know where we would be without them.

We used Home Instead previously when Dad was ill with Alzheimer's so they were our natural choice when Mam's physical and mental health started deteriorating and it became too much for us to be with her all of the time. Mam loves her carers and they are an absolute Godsend for us too. They not only
support Mam but they are like part of the family unit now which also gives us a great deal of support too and means we can keep Mam in her own home, something we intend to do for as long as possible.
The office staff are great too and give us that support network which we have so very much needed, especially over the last year.
Private care is not cheap but it is worth every penny for the quality of service we get and we will endeavour to keep Home Instead as part of our family unit for as long as we can.
Thank you everyone.

Mum was extremely well cared for by the team of carers that supported her and also the staff in the office in providing support for Mum and also my sister and me. Starting the process of having carers for Mum was a new and worrying time, Home Instead, Durham, helped enormously in reassuring us and providing
that personal care and attention for us. We liked the small team who were allocated to Mum enabling Mum to get to know them quickly. Each team member was professional, and efficient and above all showed real care for Mum. They each brought their own personalities which brought out different things in mum. We couldn't be happier with the care that Mum has had.

A very supportive and understanding team attended my brother-in-law at my home in the difficult weeks before he was thankfully released from his rapid decline from Motor Neurone Disease. The Deputy Manager and Team Lead followed up a comprehensive assessment of his complicated regime with additional
support visits and the care from his 3 dedicated caregivers was exemplary.
Thank you, again, Home Instead for looking after my family as you have done in the past, with such professionalism, kindness, dignity and respect.

Over the past three months the service received from Home Instead has been wonderful. Any issues or problems have been dealt with immediately and always with an attention to detail which went above and beyond my expectation.
I particularly like the fact that a visit is a minimum of 1 hour, and along
with the no-uniform policy, a real relationship can be built.
Living so far away means that I can only visit once a week, so I get tremendous peace of mind knowing my mother is cared for.
It really feels like the carers actually care about my mother.

Job Title: Owner/Director

Having worked in health and social care for more than 35 years, I am aware of how excellent care can improve the lives of those we support and ease the stress on families.

I have had personal experience of trying to get the right support for family to enable them to stay living at home, and sadly it was a very poor experience. During that time I would frequently say to friends and colleagues "there has to be a better way to provide support at home" and their response was always "you should provide home care, at least then it will be done right"

And that is why today I am the Owner and Director of Home Instead Senior Care Durham, I love the fact that I am in a position, as a business owner to be able to ensure that the care we provide is only that of the highest quality and that it is delivered with care and compassion by the wonderful Care Professionals we employ.

I was honoured and delighted in 2002 to be recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours with a British Empire Medal for my service to care and older people.

Our Care Pros and office team all have to pass my personal test which is 'would I let this person care for me or any of my family?'

I am so proud that I can now provide the type of care that I just couldn’t find for my mum, I provide care and support the way care should be provided but sadly, very often isn’t.

We provide the right care, at the right time, in the right way to meet your individual needs.

Caring is my passion, I am a very 'hands-on' Manager, I am responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the office, making sure that our quality and high standards are maintained.

At Home Instead Durham we don’t tell our client’s what they need; we take the time to find out what is required and what is important to the individual, once we know what that is, then we write bespoke care plans, tailored specifically to the individual.

I also ensure we comply with the Care Quality Commission standards.

We were rated OUTSTANDING at our last three inspections, something I am very proud of.

I have worked in the care industry for all my career, running and managing residential homes and supported living services.

I’m proud to work for a company where the person who needs the support is at the centre of the decisions and directs their own care.

I am passionate about what we are doing and I really feel like I have a new lease of life, we are just so positive this is what we want to do. Everyone deserves good care and we will only provide a service that we would want for our own family.

I am responsible for all of the CAREGivers, I interview them, ensure they are fit to work with our clients, take 6 references and carry out a police check.

I am registered with CQC who monitor the provision of care, ensuring that standards are met. I'm very proud to work for a company who has achieved the rating of OUTSTANDING from CQC three times. This is the highest rating they can award.
I have managed a variety of care settings over the last 25 years and I always take a person-centred approach to the care we deliver.
I meet new clients and their families to discuss their needs and the type of care that they would like, we work to meet the needs of the client, we don't expect our clients to fit in with current schedules, the client tells me when they would like their visits and for how long, I then write a care plan unique to the individual and match them with care pros to ensure a really good relationship is built.
