We, my sister and I, were recommended by a previous client; we have not been disappointed.
Reliability has been first class and one or two of the carers have been able to take our father out for “mini trips” to entertain him.
We are most grateful for the care and attention provided and the gentle
yet firm approach to somebody who, like many his age, can prove demanding.
Thank you.

I managed without carers for longer than needed. I was concerned that my needs would be a barrier, however, the ladies are all professional, non-judgemental and nothing is too much trouble. They even get me to hospital appointments and hairdressers. If they have suggestions they do it in a pleasant
way.

The carers who come to look after my husband are always punctual, very friendly and efficient. They always offer to do extra jobs and are very willing to drive me to the leisure centre. They take my husband for good walks which gives him valuable exercise. Toilet needs and showers are done with care
and dignity.

Having experienced and been disappointed by other care providers, I was persuaded by a friend to contact "Home Instead", where I discovered a very different attitude towards home care. The service provided was tailored to the individual needs of the patient with sensitivity and respect, and the interviewer
took the time and trouble to make a suitable match and timetable for the carer. We were really pleased when the carer arrived with a smile on his face, a cheerful personality and who carried out an efficient standard of care with thought, kindness and patience. Subsequently, my husband's health has deteriorated, and we now have three carers, all of whom give us this high standard of care, and we are well satisfied - a result, happy and grateful customers.

Home Instead (Durham) supported my sister to remain in her own home as long as possible in her battle with Alzheimer's, for a period of 2 years up to the end of August 2022. The service was professional and caring throughout and I highly recommend them.

Home Instead have been supporting my mum for 3-years now; they have adapted the care they provide as her needs have changed. We have had consistent carers who know my mum and her needs really well. Nothing is too much trouble for them, likewise, the office team are always professional and accommodating.
As a family, we couldn’t have coped without Home Instead and the wonderful ladies.

Service received from Home Instead caregivers has been excellent, especially since my father passed away in December. They provide a very caring, responsive and reliable service to my mother and always try to use the same group of carers who have become familiar with my mothers needs.

My Mum has had help from Home Instead staff for about 2 years. She enjoys their regular visits and support they provide. She also appreciates the care and consideration they show her at all times.
Mum's short term memory has declined over the last few months and they all help her make light of this,
laughter is always included during a visit.
I also appreciate the respect they show, and that Mum is always in good spirits after each visit.
The dedication and kindness they bring is of great help to me too, and the fact their visits allow my husband and I time to ourselves is very valuable.
Thank you to all Durham Home Instead Care Workers and staff, please keep on with the good work.

My mother has been a client of Home Instead for over 2 years. The standard of her care has always been exemplary. Her carers always go 'above and beyond' to ensure she is comfortable and happy. They have become not just her carers, but friends too. At the onset of covid, Home Instead were ahead of the
game in terms of PPE provision for carers with very high infection control standards. During lockdown, my mother sustained a stroke. We decided as a family to care for her at home to keep her as safe as possible. We could not have managed this without help from Home Instead. She now has dementia, and at each visit her carers always try to stimulate her memory, looking at photos and chatting with her as well as fulfilling her practical care needs. As a daughter, this high standard of care ensures I have peace of mind and allows me to spend time with my family and grandchildren and continue my social life. Thank you Home Instead for your excellent care

The care our Dad received from his Home Instead team was truly outstanding, enabling him to stay in his own home for as long as possible. The Home Instead Durham Team went above and beyond expectations to meet Dad’s needs and were excellent at keeping us informed as and when needed.
This was so important,
as we all took the time to get ourselves used to the idea that Dad was no longer able to live entirely independently.
Dad’s medication, personal care, shopping and nutritional needs were no longer a worry, being taken care of by the personal care package worked out between ourselves and the Home Instead Team - all with Dad’s needs and wishes taken into account.
Just as important was the quality time the team spent with Dad, offering him conversation, reading articles of interest to him when his eyesight deteriorated, and generally spending time getting to know him and his interests.
The team treated Dad with the sensitivity, respect, and dignity we all want for our loved ones.

Home Instead provided excellent and caring support for my aunt - helping to ensure she died at home - and my uncle, who would not otherwise have been able to manage at home on his own. The staff were exceptionally kind and went way beyond the call of duty in their care.

Home Instead cared for both my parents for over three years before they needed to move into a care home. The kindness and professionalism of all the carers can’t be faulted and Mam and Dad looked forward to their visits. They said it was ‘like a breath of fresh air walking through the door’ - you can’t
ask more than that!
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to other family and friends.

Home Instead helped me to care for my dying mother in September, and then visited my father regularly after her death until his own in January. Their staff were all excellent, and my parents were very fond of them. Their service was professional and full of loving-kindness. I can't recommend them highly
enough or imagine a better service. One carer, in particular, went above the call of duty and rescued my father after a fall by stopping in outside of her regular hours, and stayed with him for four hours until an ambulance arrived. She was fully supported by the company who ensured her shifts were covered while she did this.

Job Title: Owner/Director

Having worked in health and social care for more than 35 years, I am aware of how excellent care can improve the lives of those we support and ease the stress on families.

I have had personal experience of trying to get the right support for family to enable them to stay living at home, and sadly it was a very poor experience. During that time I would frequently say to friends and colleagues "there has to be a better way to provide support at home" and their response was always "you should provide home care, at least then it will be done right"

And that is why today I am the Owner and Director of Home Instead Senior Care Durham, I love the fact that I am in a position, as a business owner to be able to ensure that the care we provide is only that of the highest quality and that it is delivered with care and compassion by the wonderful Care Professionals we employ.

I was honoured and delighted in 2002 to be recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours with a British Empire Medal for my service to care and older people.

Our Care Pros and office team all have to pass my personal test which is 'would I let this person care for me or any of my family?'

I am so proud that I can now provide the type of care that I just couldn’t find for my mum, I provide care and support the way care should be provided but sadly, very often isn’t.

We provide the right care, at the right time, in the right way to meet your individual needs.

I have worked for the NHS and in social care for 45 years.

Caring is my passion, I am a very 'hands-on' Manager, I am responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the office, making sure that our quality and high standards are maintained.

At Home Instead Durham we don’t tell our client’s what they need; we take the time to find out what is required and what is important to the individual, once we know what that is, then we write bespoke care plans, tailored specifically to the individual.

I also ensure we comply with the Care Quality Commission standards.

We were rated OUTSTANDING at our last three inspections, something I am very proud of.

I have worked in the care industry for all my career, running and managing residential homes and supported living services.

I’m proud to work for a company where the person who needs the support is at the centre of the decisions and directs their own care.

I am passionate about what we are doing and I really feel like I have a new lease of life, we are just so positive this is what we want to do. Everyone deserves good care and we will only provide a service that we would want for our own family.

I am responsible for all of the CAREGivers, I interview them, ensure they are fit to work with our clients, take 6 references and carry out a police check.

I am responsible for ensuring that clients have the highest quality care and that we exceed all their expectations.
I am registered with CQC who monitor the provision of care, ensuring that standards are met. I'm very proud to work for a company who has achieved the rating of OUTSTANDING from CQC three times. This is the highest rating they can award.
I have managed a variety of care settings over the last 25 years and I always take a person-centred approach to the care we deliver.
I meet new clients and their families to discuss their needs and the type of care that they would like, we work to meet the needs of the client, we don't expect our clients to fit in with current schedules, the client tells me when they would like their visits and for how long, I then write a care plan unique to the individual and match them with care pros to ensure a really good relationship is built.
