Excellent caring service who responded to any queries promptly and effectively. The carers are professional and very caring and meet our mother's needs. When on one occasion no carer arrived the situation was dealt with promptly. Mother has been very happy with all the carers who visit and there is
a core group of 4 for the most part which provides continuity of care

Reply from Mark Booker, Owner at Independent Living (Chorley, Leyland, Parbold and Standish)

I would like to thank you for your review of our services. As always when people take the time to visit homecare.co.uk and provide a review I am grateful. Home care is a complex, difficult and sometimes emotional business to manage and we try very hard to meet the customer's needs. I am delighted by the ratings we have received, as a small business it means a lot to all of us.

Independent Living provides regular daily care for my mum. With their ongoing support, she can continue to live at her home as independently as possible. This is so important to her. The care they offer is excellent and all carers are friendly and professional. They all treat her with dignity and respect.
Carers arrive on time and the folder completed by them each day is great for keeping me updated. She looks forward to seeing her carers and having a chat with them. Any queries I have are always quickly dealt with by the office staff. I have no hesitation in recommending Independent Living services. If we could give them more than 5 stars we definitely would.

We have had service from Independent Living for several years to cover short breaks away a few times a year. All the carers have been friendly and caring and have come for the full-time that was booked. I've found it very useful for getting little breaks to recharge my batteries.

Reply from Mark Booker, Owner at Independent Living (Chorley, Leyland, Parbold and Standish)

I really appreciate this positive review and accept it as feedback on behalf of all our care and office staff as evidence of their efforts and hard work to support both our clients and their families. Care at home is not an easy business but when people give us positive comments and ratings like this it makes it worthwhile, thank you.

Mum and Dad have been looked after by Independent Living for over five years and they have been able to cope well with their increasing needs, agreeing to additional hours when necessary. At times they have been able to step in with additional clean-up requirements or sourcing equipment or clothing.
All
the carers involved have been friendly and well-liked by mum and dad. My sister and I have always been informed whenever there has been something of concern that has happened.

We are extremely grateful for this very high-scoring review from a long-standing customer. We are pleased to have achieved five stars in all the categories. Anyone in the care sector knows how hard the work is and how difficult it is to get things right in what are often difficult situations.
We have worked tirelessly with this customer and their family to deliver a good service and are very appreciative of their review.

I have always found al the care team to be professional, extremely pleasant, approachable and very supportive of both my mum and myself. It has been a great comfort to me that they are genuinely kind, clearly care about my mum's needs and her happiness. It is nice to see the good rapport and trust that
they have built up with my mum. They always treat her with dignity. My mum has dementia and they are sensitive to her needs - providing extra direction and explanations to her when required. I continue to be extremely grateful to all the dedicated carers.
The management team have always been very supportive, making themselves accessible/available both in person or by phone. Whenever their help or advice has been needed, I feel that they have always kept me fully informed about my mum's health and well-being. I am very happy with the care and support that Independent Living provide for my mum. I feel confident and secure with entrusting my mum's care to this dedicated and kind team of carers.

We are greatly appreciative of this lady's comments about her mother's care. This is a client whose care needs were small for a long time but grew rapidly in a short space of time. Our registered manager helps with some of the calls and knows all the family well and at times, we have tried to go "above and beyond" to help. The customer concerned has various healthcare professionals to her house and we have spent much office time helping these people. Our service is not always just the "care call" we can do a lot of office work behind the scenes which is not charged for. We also modify our service when the family go on holiday to reflect extra duties.

Independent Living cared for my wife (dementia) for eight years. The last two of which my wife was bedridden. Independent Living attended for the first six years, one person, twice a day to wash, dress and breakfast and similar in the evening. The last two years (bedridden) it was two people, three
times a day for personal care. There was not one time when the staff failed to attend on time. All of them were considerate, kind and fun and shared a laugh and smiles with my wife who enjoyed their company. One person also came twice a week (afternoons) - visits to activity centres, parks or games at home. The management was most cooperative, charming and flexible, whose leadership reflected in the efficiency of the team. It was a pleasure to deal with them.

Reply from Mark Booker, Owner at Independent Living (Chorley, Leyland, Parbold and Standish)

We are grateful to this very longstanding customer for his kind and positive comments about our company, carers and service. We had the pleasure of helping the gentleman's late wife for several years and supported her when she required end-of-life care. Since his wife's passing around twelve months ago we have continued to help with various household duties numerous times a week. He regularly phones the office and the owner of Independent Living enjoys a chat.
We do note the slightly lower "value for money" score than we would like. All I can say on this is we do stay the full care time without taking out travel time and, with costs like the national minimum wage increasing together with utility bills, we have no option but to raise our customer prices if we are to provide a quality service.

When you venture on a journey of care for your loved one its a difficult decision. I am so happy that we were recommended Independent Living Home Care.
They have guided us to the correct package for Mum to maintain her independence surrounded by care.
The carers have been amazing, kind and considerate
and the best review of all is that my mum loved them (after saying she didn't want carers in her home).
Thank you for taking the stress out of this decision.

One lady has been a pleasure to deal with assisting us to set up the service. The staff have been helpful, especially under the covid-19 period, when the family have had limited contact with Mum and Dad. Mum was not keen initially and was resistant to receiving help and support, but the team have worked
with us to overcome this barrier.

Dad became very confused during COVID-19 and it became apparent that Dad required more social interaction, care and support. I contacted Independent Living and Dad was assessed, a care plan written and care started in under a week. Two weeks into the care Dad has a turn for the worse and the service
and care given was above and beyond what I expected. They conducted a further assessment and suggested, to ensure he was kept safe and looked after, more regular visits would better support Dad. This was implemented without delay and this has been a great improvement in Dad. I am extremely happy with the care and support Dad is receiving from independent living and I would highly recommend their service in the future.

During covid-19, the carers have been fantastic, never missing one visit and helping with washing and cleaning pores etc. Independent Living has been in contact to discuss Mums care, and the few extra visits we have asked for have been facilitated easily.

I am writing this in regards to my mother, who lives with me and has vascular dementia. This provision of care has turned her life around, and ours. It has enabled us to keep Mum longer when the prognosis looked so bleak. I can only thank the staff for all their help, and at any time I can only urge
members of the public to use this service and consider this service as an alternative to putting an elderly relative in a residential home setting!

I was very pleased to have such lovely, caring, considerate girls to help me with my needs after I came home from hospital having had a hip replacement operation.
They cared for my well-being and health, washing and bending and changing clothes. Also later getting me walking again outside on little
trips, giving me the confidence to get back to normal living.
They did anything willingly and also with a good laugh and smile.
So kind I felt I had a new family to care for me. As I am now on my own this is very important.
I can't praise them enough, they bring sunshine every day to me.

My Mum turned 90 this month and continues to be able to live happily in her home because of her care from Right at Home. She enjoys her daily visits from Staff who keep an eye on her health and take her shopping or to the Garden Centre when she is well and look after her if she is feeling under the
weather. Mum enjoys the company of many of her carers and takes a lively interest in them, keeping her in touch with the modern world. We both feel that without the hour a day's support from Right at Home, Mum would have found it difficult to continue to live on her own. They have greatly enhanced her quality of life and she recommends them to all her friends. We are looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday, hopefully still living in her home with help from Right at Home

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.741 for Independent Living (Chorley, Leyland, Parbold and Standish) is calculated as follows: ( (41 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 54 Ratings = 4.741
