I have been extremely pleased with the way the Right at Home carers are looking after mum. They always treat her with respect even thou she is often reluctant to have assistance (she doesn't realise how needy she is as she has Dementia). They interact with mum on the things she loves - her cat, gardening
and knitting, keep the house clean and hygienic and provide essential cooked meals. I don't know how I would have managed without Right at Home.

Reply from Scott MacRae at Right at Home (Henley, Maidenhead & Windsor)

Many thanks. This why we have regular caregivers who have built up a good relationship with your mother and understand how to look after her well in her own home. We will share this review with them, they will be delighted.

I have used other providers before, but they did get impatient with me due to the uncertainness of our needs - it is very changeable. Right at Home have always done their best to accommodate our constant chopping and changing, and I have to say without exception the carers have been fantastic ambassadors
for the company.

My husband's regular carer has provided an outstanding level of personal care, always with patience and understanding of his condition. On discovering he was watching some Disney DVD's she went out of her way to bring in some additional DVD's, which she thought he may like he was delighted. She is always
kind, cheerful, putting my husband at ease and delivers outstanding personal care.

Job Title: Director

My name is Scott MacRae – I am the excited owner and part of the team at Right at Home Maidenhead and I am thrilled to be putting something back into the local community I have lived in for the past 40 years, I went to school at Burnham Grammar some years ago!

My lovely wife Isabelle works locally and my children Cameron and Alice are going to school in Maidenhead. When I am not chauffeuring them around, I have taken up longer walks with Isabelle and I like to play golf at Burnham Beeches.

After 25 years in the electronics industry, recently as Sales Director for an American company, I felt it was time for a direction change.

My father had care at home during his last days and I saw how much it helped my mother and us as a family, it kept him home to his last days which is what he wanted. I started doing some volunteer work looking after older people with memory loss and saw that there is a ‘right’ way of offering care, with dignity and respect. This approach is entrenched in our ethos of giving quality care in a minimum of one-hour visits and with a continuity of carers. This is why I opened Right at Home in Maidenhead.

I think it is important to give the same service you would expect for yourself or one of your loved ones. With the right care in our own homes, a person can maintain their independence and quality of life for longer.

This is what we promise to do at Right at Home, Maidenhead.

I am passionate, especially about how important it is for people with dementia to live in their own homes and remain independent for as long as possible.

I am a trustee at People 2 Places a local charity that delivers independence and tackles isolation in and around the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

I have volunteered with the Alzheimers Society in Maidenhead and Windsor and fundraised for the local charity Alzheimer's Dementia Support. We also support other local charities Sequela Foundation, the Stroke Club, and Elizabeth House.

Georgie is one of our many bright lights over the past few months but she has excelled in her care, her responsiveness, her reliability and her willingness to take on new responsibilities and roles.

Well done Georgina

She has taken the time to explain a little about herself and her experience with Right at Home.

My name is Georgie, I am 21 years old and I joined Right at Home in September 2019.

– My first impressions of Right at Home were that all the office staff were very helpful if I needed any help or had any problems. The carers that I met were so helpful (as I was new to care) and kind, it gave me a lot of confidence!

– I didn’t have any previous experience in care before I joined Right at Home.

– During my spare time when I am not caring I like to relax and play football. I train twice a week and play games on Sunday for Watford. I don’t mind the gym either!

– The thing that has surprised me most working at Right at Home is that everyone within the team has the same positive attitude and not only go the extra mile for our clients but also for each other!

– The most challenging thing about being a carer for me personally is getting attached as you see your clients every-day you almost become a little family so if any of them become unwell even with a cold you worry all the time! Also trying to stay on time, as once you’re in a good conversation, you just don’t want it to end!

– The thing I enjoy most about working at Right at Home is that you make such a big difference to the clients, you go in and just by being there and taking the time to listen makes their day. Their smile when you leave is amazing!

– Before Right at Home I was studying for my A-Levels.

– Something that might surprise you about me, not sure if this is what is meant, but I actually have three kneecaps!

– For someone who is looking to join the team, I would say do it if you really want to make a positive difference in somebody else’s life! Everyone welcomes you with open arms and if there is ever a problem, someone will always be there to help/guide you.

– Clients would describe me as jolly and probably a perfectionist! I actually asked a client earlier and they said I’m patient and have a lot of time to give, I always give them a laugh in the morning, so I was pleased with that!

– I first got involved with Right at Home when I wanted a pathway to my ultimate goal of being a paramedic. Right at Home seemed a good place to start and I was right!

I am Anushka, born and raised in Suriname, a country where people hardly know in this part of the world. It’s defined by a dense tropical rainforest near the lungs of Mother Earth, the Amazon rainforest. It’s also known for its Dutch colonial influence with a melting-pot culture where everyone lives in harmony. I must admit that this vibrant colourful fusion of our country played an important role in defining who I am. I like to learn about people and their cultural backgrounds and I am also passionate about cooking, and spending my free time trying something new. I have learned to share whatever I prepare; this is mostly because I have learned to give and not to count the cost because of my spiritual background. I love travelling and have seen a lot of the world. The UK wasn’t new to me as I came several times for both personal and business reasons.

I decided to move to the United Kingdom in 2018 and have had a professional career in Human Resources, Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain, Finance and Business Development, a quiet multidisciplinary role in a cost-cutting and profit-making multinational company.

My role as HR Director was very rewarding and I tended to care about thousands of employees and their families. I was like a mother to them. This nurturing trait has helped me so far to adjust to the care industry. This industry is new to me and back home we have a very socially engaging atmosphere; we take pride in caring for our families! This care sector was something new to me and I love new challenges. It became more challenging when I got Covid -19 and ended up in the hospital during times when fear, health anxiety and apprehension about having or contracting Covid-19 was evident with some abandoning their responsibility. I have shown commitment in these difficult times with compassion for the elderly and vulnerable. I didn’t give up my determination to go to work when I got better even when my family were concerned about my health (they forbid me to work). Caring for others was always embedded in my values and today I can proudly say that I have fought against this pandemic with compassion for others and I stood up front to care for the most vulnerable elderly.

I joined Right at the Home this January 2022. What I like about them is this company does what they say. They are truly compassionate about the delivery of the highest quality of person-centred service. They recruit the best of the best and the companies’ values are rooted in their culture. I enjoyed the induction session and have always felt a feeling of belonging; being part of This Family.

I truly believe that being compassionate about care is an important ingredient in delivering quality care. I am now unwinding my career and I like to grow with this company. This nurturing work environment will be of assistance where empathy for others is central. With this pandemic we have learned an important lesson in this world; we are seeing life from a different perspective. Life is not always about chasing money and having luxury but also about taking care of yourself and your surroundings. Right at Home is the best environment to enhance my growth potential.

Everyone was really nice to me since I started. I think everyone is professional but also helpful.

I worked in a care home 3 years prior to this job for about 9 months .

In my off time I like to go out with my wife and daughter, play football and go fishing.

What surprised me the most since I’m working with Right at Home is how helpful and supportive they are towards my progression.

I think the most challenging thing about being a carer is to don’t get too attach to the people that you’re looking after.

The thing that I enjoy the most about working with Right at Home is that I get to meet a lot of new people as I’m in charge with recruiting.

Before I joined Right at Home I was working constructions .

A thing that might surprise you about me is that I’m a registered Nurse in Romania.

If you have the chance to join Right at Home team, take it. From a job as a carer you can transform it in a career and they will help you all the way.

Without being modest, my clients love me and I love them.

And everything started with a search on Indeed and applying for the job. Scott called me mid week, had the interview next day and Induction the week after.

Nada has been with Right at Home since September 2019, she has progressed to a role as a Care Co-Ordinator and is currently studying for her level 3 in Health and Social Care.

She loves supporting her clients, staff members and the office team, always with a smile.

She answers a few questions about herself.

I am 45 years “young” and I live in Slough with my husband, 3 children and a dog.

I was born in Slovakia and came to the UK when I was 19 years old as an au pair for 2 years to learn English. I met my husband here; I went back home for a year where I worked as a QC for Kimberley Clark, came back again and got married. I live here ever since.

We have 2 sons, one studying economics and finance in their second year at Surrey University and the other one is in Year 13 at Burnham Grammar School doing his A levels, hoping to go to University to become a vet. My daughter is 11 years old and a keen dancer and “Tik Tok Star.” All 3 of them also practise martial arts since they were little and achieved 3rd, 2nd and 1st Dan Black Belts. Gucci is 2 years old British bulldog and we had her since she was a pup, she was born in our house and is absolutely gorgeous.

Nada Asghar
My first impressions of Right at Home were that everyone was very friendly and welcoming.

Before I joined, I have been a full-time Mum for many years and a carer for my mother-in-law for 6 years. I was also regularly helping out my husband with his taxi business.

This was my only experience of caring, I did not work for any other care company before. After my mother-in-law sadly passed away, I suddenly had more free time and after I had done with painting the house and sorting out the garden, I ran out of things to do. I wanted to do something to fill my time. I initially applied for a position of teacher assistant in school which was always something I wanted to do. I did get an interview however I did not get the job. So, I thought, why not apply for a carer as I had some experience looking after my mother-in-law? After searching many companies on the internet and reading their reviews, Right at Home stood out the most for me. So I applied.

My family is the most important to me, I have no other family here as my parents passed away a long time ago and my only brother lives back home. Perhaps that’s why I give all my attention to family, spending time with them or just driving them around, dropping them off or picking them up. I also like relaxing in the garden and messing around with Gucci.

The most challenging thing for me would be going to a client and for one reason or another, I wouldn’t be able to help fulfil the goal I went there to achieve. That would make me sad.

What surprised me the most was that everyone, whether it was office staff, colleagues carers or management, everyone was so helpful and worked together so that they could provide the best outcome for the clients. True teamwork.

You might not know about me that apart from English I can speak fluent Punjabi. And of course, my own language. I used to love learning languages like German, French and Russian but forgot all of them now.

I think my clients would describe me as reliable, humble and caring. Good time a keeper. You have to ask the clients.

I absolutely love my job; I am proud that I am part of a great team of fellow carers with amazing management.

Our manager Alyson is approachable and supportive and you can always go to her with any problems, she is there for us. I love going to meet our clients, helping them out with their daily routines or just listening to their stories and finding out about their lives, it’s an amazing experience.

Working for RAH you will be welcomed by the friendly staff. RAH are they for you from day 1 and will do everything they can to make your job enjoyable. I saw an advert on Facebook. I first spoke to Scott who told me about the job and then was asked to come in for an interview. I have been with RAH now for 8 yrs.

I was really impressed with RAH. They always listened to my needs and requests. They would always try to fit my work around the school hours and holidays. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. RAH have always been accommodating and encouraged me to progress. RAH have always made me feel part of the team.

Before joining RAH I worked in a infants school looking after children with special needs. This job was very fulfilling a bit like the job I do at RAH. The only experience I had before joining RAH was caring for my Nan. That experience helped me with looking after my clients and treating them as if they are family. I have found my job very challenging when I see my client’s health declining in health, but knowing I have done my very best looking after them, helps me get through this. I enjoy my clients telling me I have made a difference to their lives and being part of a team that go above and beyond looking after our clients. I’ve often been told that I am friendly and easy to talk to person and will go above and beyond.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family. I also enjoy going out socialising with my husband and friends. There’s not much that would surprise you about myself apart from having 6 children which most people are normally shocked by.
