The team at Right at Home Bournemouth & Poole supported my wife and myself with care for my father-in-law for several months in at the end of 2024. Twice-daily visits were conducted professionally and with good humour, it was a pleasure to welcome the carers into our home to take a load from our shoulders
for a couple of hours a day. Whether it was cleaning bottles, making sandwiches or simply having a chat the team were great. The company's systems and the management team's responsiveness (to SMS or calls) just fed the overall feeling that we were in safe hands. I cannot compliment them highly enough nor can I recommend them more than I do to others in the same situation as ourselves.

On Thursday 7th November 2024 I had to make a call to the RAH office to ask if they could assist Dad the very next day, to take him to a hospital appointment for an x-ray. It was arranged so that Dad would be collected at 11:30 and taken to Poole Hospital for 12 noon.
Unfortunately, the X-ray revealed
a broken bone in one of Dad's ankles, and it was decided by the doctors that he should undergo further X-rays to make sure that there were no other injuries. Thankfully, there weren't, but the tests (and waiting around) took all afternoon and Dad finally arrived home around 17:30. I felt really bad that I had taken the carer away from another service user, and that it caused the office inconvenience and extra time to sort out another carer to 'stand-in' for them.
Thank you so much for dealing with this situation and for looking after Dad during the hospital appointment.
You are all amazing! Many many thanks for everything that you do, not only for Dad but for all the service users.

My fiercely independent aunt has dementia and needed support with personal care and daily living (even though in my aunt's view she was perfectly fine, was refusing support from family and didn't want strangers in her home). Right at Home provided a core team of carers that developed a relationship
with my aunt and we couldn't have asked for a better group of professionals. Everyone has been amazing, introducing themselves slowly to my aunt, gaining her trust and gradually helping her with personal care and daily support. We have always felt confident that my aunt was being cared for with kindness, patience and compassion, even on the days when her behaviour was more challenging. As her needs increased, Right at Home were able to increase the frequency of their visits, taking on more tasks and offering suggestions to improve the quality of my aunt's life. The whole team really has gone 'above and beyond', nothing has been too much trouble and a simple thank you is not nearly enough.

Right at Home have provided my mum with top-class care. They are supportive to both physical and emotional needs. They are respectful and encouraging of independence where possible. My mum looks forward to seeing her carers and has regained her confidence. It has been a huge relief to our family to
know that our mum is getting such good care. The office staff are responsive and communicative. We would highly recommend Right at Home for anyone looking for professional care for their loved ones.

I chose Right at Home, initially, as they were so highly rated despite not being the most expensive of the care-at-home companies.
Mum was, needless to say, apprehensive about having 'strangers' coming into her home however she embraced the whole idea very quickly and looked forward to seeing her ladies.
She always had a story to tell me about her visit and the carer's tales.
Over the latter years, as Mum became more fragile, I increased my time with her but was always confident that Right at Home would step in when needed.
They certainly did so when my family had an unexpected death and I needed support. They did not hesitate to accommodate me with an urgent visit to Mum.
I cannot recommend the company and their lovely carers, highly enough. They've helped Mum, been kind and respectful to her and, in turn, helped me.
If you're looking for kind and compassionate care for your loved one. These are the people!

Right at Home have provided care in our home for three years to my husband who has Alzheimer's. This has allowed me time to shop, spend time with the family, knowing not only was he well looked after, but was safe and able to enjoy life by focusing on the few activities he was able to engage in. Listening
to music, going out to coffee, watching his favourite films. Right at Home regularly reviewed his needs and we were very pleased with the support that my husband received.

Genuinely caring and always flexible and prepared to make extra visits when necessary or help out with shopping trips, prescription collections and GP visits. Also, made visits to see my relative when they were in hospital.

My sister and I were given the name of Right at Home (Bournemouth and Poole) by our previous care firm, who could no longer look after my father due to a reduction in staff. This company is more expensive, but overall more professional, with agreed tasks and timings for visits. Impressed that the carers
always stayed the full allocated times. Small things meant a lot. When my father had been in contact with me two days before I went down with Covid, they immediately visited him and checked him for Covid, which took them over their normal time slot. Also, the main thing for me was the way they took a personal interest in him and his painting hobby. They always treated him with dignity and spoke to him kindly. He had absolutely no objection to any of the carers and enjoyed the brief chats which broke up his day. He was well cared for from August 2022 to April 2023 when he had a fall and sadly entered a care home.

We have used several care providers and we found your service to be the best. We are happy to recommend your firm. My father did enjoy the carers’ visits. I liked the use of the list of chores on the app which were ticked off as work was done.

Right at Home cared for both my parents at their home in Bournemouth. The carers are kind, hard-working, well-trained and reliable. They arrive on time, follow and record progress on the care plan, which can be viewed by the family in real-time if wished, and never leave early, unlike a previous agency
we used. They were always happy to adapt the care to the changing needs of my parents. The same carers came each week - all of this meant that my father, who was very nervous about having carers in, came to relax and look forward to their visits. I also wish to commend the efficient and effective management team, the phone is always answered, any issues and concerns are promptly dealt with, a schedule is produced every Friday and posted or emailed so that we always knew who would be visiting and when.
Ensuring that elderly relatives have the care they need is a huge challenge for families, if you are looking for peace of mind then I highly recommend Right at Home. Thank you Right at Home.

I can't speak highly enough of the fantastic and professional care my elderly parents received from the Right at Home team. The carers are truly outstanding, compassionate people who went above and beyond to make sure my mum and dad were looked after, reassured and safe in their home. They were always
on time, often staying longer and showed great kindness and respect for their well-being and dignity. Their skill was such a huge reassurance for me, knowing they were in safe hands and that the carers would always let me know if there were any worries. Without them, I don't know how we have survived as a family and they enabled Mum and Dad to stay at home for long as was possible. The office team were always so understanding and professional, accommodating their changing needs and a pleasure to deal with. My mum was extremely reticent to accept care, but their gentle approach was spot on and she absolutely loved them coming. 'Thank you' is not enough!

Right at Home have given my mother superb care. She is consulted about what she would like to eat and helped to sit outside when possible. All big pluses when she wishes to maintain her independence. The rapport she has built up with the staff is lovely as she tends to see the same people week in week
out. A very big plus and all too often not the case. When you do not live nearby it's comforting to know she is well cared for. Highly recommended.

Right at Home has provided support for my husband for the preceding five months and continues to do so. From the first assessment carried out in our own home the care he has been given has been of the top quality. The carers who look after him are always extremely efficient, professional and very caring.
They are always bright and cheerful and carry out their duties with the brightest of smiles and nothing is too much for them. On the occasions I need to contact the office (often to request extra sessions) the office staff are always very welcoming and deal with my requests very quickly, pleasantly and efficiently.

Right at Home looked after my dad, and the quality of his care was outstanding.
The carers were warm and caring towards him, highly skilled professionals, who communicated exceptionally well, as did the lovely office team of girls.


Right at home is an excellent all round service, which I cannot

praise enough and would most certainly recommend to anyone 100%.

Without exception, the service Mum and her family have received from Right at Home has been excellent. The quality of care is outstanding, the carers are not just genuinely warm and caring human beings but also highly-skilled professionals who are both proactive in solving problems (either relating
to the person or their property), while calm and capable in the event of an emergency. The organisation of care is exemplary. Right at Home are flexible in accommodating continual adjustments (requested by visiting family members) but meticulous in ensuring that Mum's care is never compromised. The communication is exceptional, the Out-of-Hours number is always staffed by someone who can actually assist, every week Mum receives written confirmation of who her carers will be and when they will call, and whenever family get in touch we always get an immediate and helpful reply. Right at Home are fundamental not just to Mum's safety and care but her well-being and happiness.

Right at Home are amazing! My mum has complex needs that are very stressful for her and our family. They take away a lot of that stress by being there for us - always. My mum has found it hard to engage with professionals, so I was wondering how this was all going to work but there are no issues. Mum
has made a good relationship with her carers and they support her. Mental health issues are hard, despite the increased awareness nowadays. I feel no judgement from them - just full on support.
All I can ever say to them is thank you.

Andrew Davis

Job Title: Owner and Managing Director

Right from the launch of Right at Home Bournemouth and Poole in September 2012, Andrew was driven by a determination to develop a service that would support clients as he would want to be supported himself in similar circumstances. The Right at Home team takes the time and trouble to select a close-knit team, recruiting only those people whose dedication to delivering compassionate and reliable care matches their own.


Andrew is acutely aware that families need the highest levels of reassurance that their loved one’s quality of life is not only being maintained but actually being improved. Work schedules are arranged so that Right at Home carers have time for their clients. As Andrew says, “The high-quality service that characterises Right at Home will enhance our clients’ day-to-day living and give peace of mind to their dependants because our carers are punctual, consistent and do not rush the service they provide.” Andrew opened his business after seventeen years of commissioned military service. The qualities of selfless commitment, integrity and respect for others that the British Army develops in its leaders are precisely the qualities needed for his role in this new venture. Andrew lives in Bournemouth and enjoys a happy family life with his wife, young daughter, two cats and a Maltipoo called Charlie. Previously, he immersed himself in the local community by taking on voluntary work both with the Royal Voluntary Society (formerly the WRVS but now including men) delivering library books to the housebound and with the Friends of Christchurch Hospital helping people find their way around the hospital whilst hoping not to get lost himself! Although he no longer undertakes these roles, he remains active with the Alzheimer’s Society and the Dementia Action Alliance. Andrew finds his voluntary work invaluable in keeping him in touch with what older people and those who have to depend on others for help really want and need.


During the pandemic, Andrew took on the role of chair of the Dorset Home Care Providers Association and in this role was able to advise the local authority and local NHS on measures to support both carers and those receiving care across the county.
