I engaged Home Instead at a time when my aunt's memory was declining quickly, increasing confusion was apparent and her ability to support herself with everyday things like cooking, staying hydrated and taking medications had all but stopped.
The care team at Home Instead have all been really thoughtful,
professional and kind. Not just in how they undertake the tasks they carry out on each visit, but in taking time to sit and listen and chat to my Aunt.
I have nothing but praise for them and would recommend them without hesitation.

In July 2024 my mother finally had to give up her own home and go into permanent care at the age of 97, but for just over two years prior to that Home Instead looked after her at home. At first she had one or two calls a day, but then needed increasing levels of care as time went on and her physical
and mental abilities declined. All those who cared for her at her own home were kind, caring and thoughtful, keeping her safe and well through some difficult times. Some of them were exceptional and went beyond the call of duty. We shall remain thankful to them for everything they achieved.

Home Instead take excellent care of my dad. Dad is nearly 90 and has Alzheimer's. I live abroad and the Home Instead team make sure Dad is OK and give me good advice on how I can improve his life and make sure he is safe in his own home. They are 100% reliable and really get to know Dad. The reports
on each visit make me feel reassured about how Dad is doing.
The carers take Dad to appointments, which he loves, as well as out for lunch. The Home Instead monthly event is also something dad really enjoys (especially when he wins a prize!).
The office team are super helpful and arrange Dad's visits around his commitments.
I'm very glad I found Home Instead, they do what it says in their name!

Cannot fault the care and the way it has been organised and some difficult situations dealt with. Professional, kind and caring. Most of all the management and the staff have been so flexible and worked with the family to ensure the right care and the right carers for the person being cared for.

We want to say a huge thank you to the wonderful carers and professional management team who looked after our dad. Dad had late onset Alzheimer's but we knew he was desperate to stay in his own home. Home Instead - who had looked after my mum up to her passing - were our first choice for help. Nothing
was too much trouble. The manager came to the house to meet Dad and the immediate family and we discussed what Dad's likes and dislikes were. They took great interest in finding out about Dad’s life, his jobs, travel, different homes and most importantly to us they were kind, respectful and caring. We agreed on a small number of carers to cover the 14 visits a week that we had booked - a visit in the morning and one at teatime. The care he received was first class - his main carer was brilliant at encouraging Dad to maintain a good personal care routine and change his clothes regularly. The carers were patient, and professional and took a genuine interest in chatting with Dad. He has passed now.

I cannot thank Home Instead Calderdale enough for their tender and professional care they afforded to our dear family friend who recently passed on at a very advanced age. Over a period of several years, Home Instead looked after her every day and gave her the reassurance of continuity, dependability
and trust. All the accolades you could apply to their attentive service we would have no hesitation in affirming to be true. You could always speak to a carer in attendance and get updates on her well-being. When members of our family visited we saw first-hand how well she was cared for and how neat and tidy her house was kept. You get the exact service described in their promotional literature and I would recommend them to anyone in need. Thank you for all that you and your team, past and present, did for our old family friend. You all went over and above.

My mum has been using Home Instead for quite a while now.
I have always been more than happy with the care my mum is getting.
The girls that she sees are extremely good with her and, in turn, give me more freedom.
If I need to ring the office for anything, the staff are all very friendly and take
on board our needs.
Everything is actioned as our request and I would have no hesitation in recommending Home Instead, Elland to anyone.

Home Instead is a brilliant company to deal with and they have such caring staff.
Trying to navigate the care system is a bit of a minefield but I’ve had nothing but support from everyone so far. Also, the way the carers look after my dad is wonderful.
He’s had one going in every morning since last
November and she’s fantastic - so attentive and caring. Another has recently started to carry out a second visit on an evening and although I’ve not met him personally yet, Dad says he’s lovely too. It’s great he has the continuity of seeing the same people everyday and they care for Dad as an individual.
It was a bit of a struggle getting him to accept any help to begin with, as he doesn’t like change but I know he feels comfortable with the care he receives and I have nothing but positive things to say about everyone I’ve dealt with so far. Thanks for making a difficult situation easier!

We have used Home Instead to look after my Dad who has Alzheimer’s. He has now gone into a home, but between March 2023 and June 2023, we used Home Instead to give Mum a break from her caring duties. Home Instead were amazing. The carer came 3 times a week and Dad's not been easy but the carers dealt
with him like a pro! All the staff were so helpful and honest and we as a family would definitely recommend Home Instead care. You need to give a month's notice to finish the service, and that’s not always possible if they need to go into a home quickly, that’s the only negative and do understand, but care is so very expensive.

Home Instead have been looking after Mum for 15 months, they have been a lifeline for our family. They are fantastic, the carers are amazing getting Mum to do things which she wouldn’t do for me. We think of the carers as part of our family. They are very caring and kind and respectful, great sense
of humour and willing to go the extra mile. We were worried that they might struggle to get to Mum in the snow but they always got there. Many thanks to all the team.
Mum has sadly had to go into a home we just hope the carers are just as good as Home Instead.

Home Instead cared for my mother and then father over a three year period. They were very professional in identifying needs and devising a care plan. They were very reliable and never missed a call (my parents had four a day). When I needed to add calls they were accommodating. I would recommend them
to anyone else who finds themselves needing help looking after their parents.

This is a really wonderful organisation. The carers are lovely, patient and professional. The admin team are super, responsive and friendly. I cannot praise them enough for the care they provided to our mum in her last months at home. They certainly afforded our family peace of mind at this time. I

My parents really looked forward to visits from the carers at Home Instead Calderdale. Without fail everyone was caring, friendly, cheerful and very practical in dealing with my parents' care needs. They also always turned up on time, which was important when my Dad was at home on his own. On several
occasions they went above and beyond to help with minor emergencies and always kept us informed about what was going on. Amazingly they also found time to sit and chat with my parents, which made the visits feel more social than formal care. These are great people and I would highly recommend them.

We used Home Instead for the first time in September 2022 and the experience was excellent in all respects. My wife and I look after my mother (95 years old) at home and we needed someone to cover for us while we went on holiday for two weeks. The care manager obviously thought very carefully about
which carer would be a good fit for Mum before introducing her to us. We had an introductory visit at home and a follow up to cover any questions before we went away. It worked perfectly. Daily Scrabble games, some trips out to the local park, lunches and dinners prepared. They got on with each other very well. Everything was in perfect order when we got home and we had a good chat with the carer before she departed for a very well earned get together in her local pub. We would not hesitate to use Home Instead again and we can thoroughly recommend them to anyone who needs this type of service.

I cannot praise this organisation highly enough! Thanks to Home Instead, my elderly aunt was able to remain in her own home until the end of her life, despite increasing frailty and suffering from dementia. Initially, she had regular daily visits and then 24/7 live-in care. This meant so much to her
and her family, as a move into care after decades in the same home would have been confusing and very distressing for her.
The Home Instead team were brilliant and everyone I spoke to was friendly and full of care for her.
When there were things I needed to know, they would always contact me to update me, without being over-intrusive.
They treated my aunt with total dignity and respect at all times, organising her social life, arranging a birthday party for her 90th birthday and many of them came to her funeral too, to pay their final respects, where it was clear the genuine love and affection they had for her.

I’m Munaf Patel, the Director of Home Instead in Calderdale and the Spen Valley. I have worked in the social care sector for over 30 years. Over this period, I have undertaken a range of roles and gained a wealth of experience, both as a frontline practitioner and in various management roles in local authority settings as well as voluntary sector organisations. I am delighted to be part of Home Instead, and use my extensive care background, coupled with my strong care ethics and values to ensure we deliver a Rolls Royce service to all of our clients.


Having spent my entire working life supporting vulnerable people, I am passionate about providing quality care and am pleased part of an organisation which places the clients at the heart of everything we do. My goal is to ensure our staff get to know our clients and that we set consistently high standards in the care and companionship we provide.
Outside of work, I am a family man, who has experience supporting my ageing mother, this has enabled me to better understand and appreciate the importance of matching the right Care Professional to each client, and ensuring our client's wishes are respected.


I’m realistic enough to recognise we won’t get it right all the time, but I am committed to ensuring we invite feedback and continue to learn and develop, as a team. For me, it is vital to have staff who share my values and embrace a learning culture.

Hi, I’m Anosha! I’ve been a Care Co-ordinator at Home Instead Calderdale since April 2022. I began my career as a Care Professional with Home Instead in 2017 and then moved into an office role as a Scheduling Coordinator in 2019 where I was responsible for devising client rotas, planning care appointments and making sure our clients receive consistent care from our team.


Having experience in delivering care has helped me to appreciate both the challenges and rewards of delivering care to our clients. For me, the most important aspect of the role is to listen to our client’s wishes and deliver care in a way, which empowers and enables our clients to maintain their independence and dignity. Without a shadow of a doubt, my favourite part of my role is meeting our lovely clients and matching them with our Care Professionals.


Day to day I work closely alongside our Registered Manager and the rest of the Care Management Team to oversee the delivery of our care services to our clients and ensure our Care Professionals are appropriately trained and supported to undertake their roles.


I am passionate about wanting to support people living independently in their own homes. I believe that it is important to understand the client’s needs, build a good relationship with them and devise a bespoke care plan to help them retain and even enhance their quality of life.
For me, the most important thing is to love the job you do.

Job Title: Marketing & Community Engagement Officer

Joined: 2020

I joined Home Instead in August 2020 as Calderdale’s first Marketing & Community Engagement Officer having previously worked in a marketing communications role in the early years sector, promoting and campaigning for higher standards in childcare.


My role involves raising awareness of the benefits of home care and engaging directly with older people in our community to communicate our values and the difference quality care from Home Instead can make to older people.


Having experienced at first hand the issues facing my own parents, my goal is to raise awareness of the impact on the mental and physical health of older people that comes from living alone or with a condition such as frailty, dementia or Parkinsons. I want to help change attitudes to care - so it is not seen as a last resort, but an integral part of our lives in the later years.


I engage directly with health professionals in Calderdale and deliver workshops to local groups on Scams and Ageing Well. I have also helped community social groups and memory cafes to increase visitor numbers and older people to find new social opportunities after the pandemic through publishing a bi-annual What’s On Where Guide.

My name is Carol and I am the Recruitment Co-ordinator at Home Instead Calderdale. This is my 8th year with Home Instead. Initially, I started as a Care Professional caring for our lovely clients and last summer I progressed into my current role.


My role involves the hiring of new Care Professionals and overseeing their training. Having had first-hand experience being a Care Professional has allowed me to recognise the qualities a great candidate requires for the role. I am passionate about finding the right staff at the right time and delivering our award-winning training to provide our staff with the tools and skills they need to deliver the highest possible standard of care to our clients. We are well known for matching our clients with like-minded Care Professionals and I always strive to provide the variety of staff necessary to ensure we provide the highest quality service with our clients and their families have come to depend on.

My name is Rachel and I’m one of two Care Coordinators at Home Instead Calderdale.


I joined the team in early 2023, and I have received such a warm welcome from everyone at Home Instead and already feel like I’ve been here for years.


I have worked in the care sector for several years and I truly believe it is such a rewarding career. I started out as a Home Care Assistant and have gradually progressed to my current role, which involves working with clients to ensure all of their needs are met as well as supervising and supporting the Care Professionals and enabling them to develop their skills and training.


During my time in care, I have supported some wonderful people with differing needs and although it has been tough at times, it has been worth it as I love knowing that I am making a difference in peoples’ lives. I believe that having first-hand experience delivering care has enabled me to work closely with our Care Professionals as I understand the role and what it entails.


In my current role, I am one of the first points of contact for new clients, taking them from their initial consultation to the introduction with their Care Professional and completing regular reviews to ensure we are providing top-quality care. I love getting out into the community and meeting our clients, seeing the smiles on their faces when they talk about the care they receive. I am proud to be a part of Home Instead.

I'm Sarah, the Scheduling Co-ordinator and am responsible for doing the client and Care Professional Rotas’.


My Journey in the care profession began in 2020 when I started working in a care home. Shortly thereafter, I realised I wanted to support clients one on one within their own homes and went on to become a Care Professional in the community. An opportunity arose for Scheduling Co-ordinator within Home Instead Calderdale and I was instantly attracted as I admired their ethos and values.


I am proud to have worked my way up to the position I'm in now and am thoroughly enjoying the responsibilities associated with my role. In particular, I enjoy building positive relationships with our amazing Care Professionals and our wonderful clients, as well as their family members.


Making sure our clients get the right support they need to live independently within the comfort of their own homes and in an environment that is familiar to them, is very rewarding and through my work with Home Instead, I am able to achieve this.
