Home Instead Calderdale and Bradford South & West is one of the top 20 home care providers in Yorkshire, regularly scoring 9.9 out of 10 in client reviews.

Care is not one size fits all and this is something Home Instead truly understands. They provide tailored homecare for older people including companionship, home help, shopping, meal preparation, personal care and medication management. They also provide specialised dementia care, live-in care and a respite service for families caring for loved ones. Visits can be from just one hour a week to a 24 hour service.

Their team of over 50 Care Professionals are employed for their professionalism, dedication and empathy and then carefully matched with clients on the basis of personality, interests and skills required. Appointing named Care Professionals helps build trust and strong relationships between clients, their families and the team and is the foundation of high-quality, dignified care.

Unlike many other care companies, all their calls last at least one-hour allowing Care Professionals the time to give clients companionship, help with hobbies and maintaining a social life, trips out as well as support with practical tasks.

Their aim is to change the way people are cared for in old age, keeping them independent at home, maintaining quality of life and when need changes, the service changes too.

They understand that families want the best for their loved ones, so they build partnerships with families giving them the reassurance that their loved one is safe and secure and use an app to facilitate seamless, effective communication between Care Professionals, family and the office team and make regular quality control visits to ensure care remains high quality.

I am pleased to have the opportunity to thank Home Instead for the thoughtful care they provide for our mum. The team are flexible and understanding when responding to changes in needs and the carer who supports mum is excellent.

I can not fault Home Instead (Calderdale & Spen Valley), all the staff members were wonderful when looking after my father-in-law, they could not do enough for us. Even when we could see that 24/7 care was needed very quickly they did everything they could to fulfil our wishes. Most of all you allowed
my father-in-law to keep his dignity at all times and grant him his wishes to be looked after at home until his passing. If anyone is struggling or can't make their mind up which way to go when looking for care for a loved one. I would not hesitate in asking Home Instead to look after a family member the care they gave was excellent in all areas needed, we can't thank them enough.

We have been very happy with Home Instead. The carers were lovely and looked after my mum very well. We really appreciate the efforts made to have the minimum number of staff on the care rota, and to have a primary carer, so that personal relationships and trust were formed. This really made a difference
and it made it a very personal service. All the staff were friendly, helpful and professional and we felt that they genuinely cared. Thank you so much.

So delighted to recommend this service to others, as our family experience was first class. The carers understood fully the meaning of their job title and did everything to ensure that our mother had all the support, companionship and loving care that you would want for a loved one. This in turn gave
us the peace of mind to accept that she was in very safe hands, giving us the opportunity to witness our eldest child become a doctor! We are so grateful to the carer that came to our rescue - boy, she even did the ironing! Thank you all so much. In a world that appears to be going to hell in a handcart...you are a shining light. Keep up the excellent work.

Home Instead (Calderdale & Spen Valley) have supported me for the past six years. Initially providing visits where the carers would assist me to run errands and help keep my home clean and organised. The carers are now assisting me with having a shower, helping to tidy the house and also take me out
to appointments or to pick up medication. Throughout the six years, I have been delighted with the carers I have had and the way Home Instead (Calderdale & Spen Valley) have responded to my changing care needs. I simply cannot praise them enough. I have the same regular carers who know me and understand my routine, we have a great relationship and I would like to say a huge thank you to all the team at Home Instead (Calderdale & Spen Valley).

My mother required care at short notice and I found Home Instead (Calderdale & Spen Valley) to be incredibly professional and efficient at providing this care. They responded to the changes in the care requirements very quickly and without any fuss. From the start I felt that they treated my mother
as a priority and were very focused on the quality of her care. The carers themselves were lovely people and in a short period of time became not just carers but friends. They took a genuine interest in my mum and would always spend extra time sitting and chatting with her once all her care needs had been met. The choice of carers couldn't have been better and I know mum felt genuinely valued. I would not hesitate in recommending Home Instead (Calderdale & Spen Valley) to friends and family and would be very happy to using them again in the future.

During lockdown, it became impossible to visit my very independent 90-year-old Mum as all her daughters live far away. Home Instead stepped in to help with all her requirements from shopping to cooking to companionship. At first, Mum was very reluctant but now she has befriended her carers and is happy
that they arrive each day with their chat and happiness. There have been two areas where her carers have been exceptional. Taking her for her vaccine and, through the snow, supported her in attending her sister-in-law's funeral. The MD of Home Instead came out in his 4x4 to ensure that Mum got there even though the weather was awful. They have been so dependable, informative and very caring. Mum feels that they really care about her and they go out of their way to ensure she is comfortable and well looked after. If they have any worries they contact us to talk it through so, as her family, we always feel kept up to date and reassured. Thank you Home Instead - you have been amazing.

Reply from Munaf Patel, Director at Home Instead Calderdale

We are delighted to hear that both you and your mother are happy with our service. Despite the heavy snowfall, we were determined to get your mother to the funeral of her sister-in-law, as it meant so much to her and it meant a lot to us to fulfil her wishes. I'm immensely proud of our care team, because they go the extra mile for our clients day in, day out because we genuinely do strive to provide the best possible care.

After only 4-6 weeks we (and more importantly our mum) can report that the carer from Home Instead has changed our lives! A couple of minor administrative niggles fade to nothing because the care and support provided has been brilliant. The relief, Mum’s weight gain and improved general demeanour has
been amazing. Our mum has company even during lockdown due to her care requirements (albeit 121 when she’d been used to larger gatherings) so is lucky but has still benefitted enormously. Anyone lonely, on their own, maybe a spouse or an adult child caring on their own or with limited support should definitely consider this option. Great value and allows the elderly person to maintain an element of control.

After the 1st few weeks Home Instead care for my 91-year-old mother I wrote an initial review. It was highly complimentary.....but was it just a honeymoon period?
My mother was at home being looked after by the Home Instead team for 6 months before we needed to transfer her to a full-time care home.
For every day of the 6 months the highest levels of care, support and protection for my mum never faltered.....it was simply excellent from start to finish.
Despite lockdowns and illness the very wonderful area manager kept the same core team around my mother. They never missed a single visit!
The brilliant app was my lifeline to knowing exactly how she was even though I couldn't visit her. As she deteriorated the team helped me to confront the painful next steps. Mum's very regular carer was brilliant at helping me prepare her for the next phase......she and the area manager were such a massive support throughout such a difficult time.
I'm so very, very grateful I found them.

A big thank you to the staff and carers from Home instead, who without their support, we could not have managed to keep Dad in his own home. Such a caring, supportive, helpful and reliable team. Our main caregiver, was truly dedicated, to my father, ensuring his personal care and appearance was of
a high standard. The house was kept clean and tidy and the bedding and clothing washed and dried. They were friendly, helpful and became great friends and felt like one of the family. Any problems or issues were reported to us and dealt with. They even arranged with the relevant departments re the acquisition of equipment for the house. Dad's regular carer was so attentive and lovely. She was enthusiastic and cheery with him, encouraging and even helping with his love of gardening! He looked forward to her regular visits. I would most definitely recommend this company, not least for the fact that they do respect and care for their clients. The office staff are friendly and efficient too!

The care team has provided an excellent once-daily service to my 93-year-old mother.
The designated care ladies have shown great respect, care and dignity with a daily hygiene routine in the shower, assisted dressing and provision of both hot and cold breakfast as desired.
Bed making and bed change
routine as requested by family and extra where necessary. They've even been happy to place the items in the washing machine and start the wash cycle for a family member to empty later in the day.
The staff always use new protective equipment daily where required i.e. gloves and apron, while carrying out their daily agreed tasks. On an occasion where Mother was feeling unwell and insecure, the carer was prepared to stay longer than their scheduled time to offer additional support till a family member arrived.
The morning visit was agreed for a specific time to suit Mum's needs and the Home Instead management and care team have adhered to our request.
As a family, we are delighted with the service provision.

It has been a real worry not being able to see my Dad due to the pandemic but the Caregivers have been great. They have developed a good relationship with my Dad and he is only seen by a regular small number of Caregivers. Any queries have been quickly answered by the office staff.

I contacted Home Instead when my friend, who had dementia, needed care during the day. A package of care was set up very quickly, thanks to the efficiency of the Director and manager. The care provided matched my friend’s needs, the careers were kind, caring and courteous. On one occasion, we requested
that a carer be changed and this was managed with diplomacy and speed. My friend looked forward to his time with the carers.

I’m Munaf Patel, the Director of Home Instead in Calderdale and the Spen Valley. I have worked in the social care sector for over 30 years. Over this period, I have undertaken a range of roles and gained a wealth of experience, both as a frontline practitioner and in various management roles in local authority settings as well as voluntary sector organisations. I am delighted to be part of Home Instead, and use my extensive care background, coupled with my strong care ethics and values to ensure we deliver a Rolls Royce service to all of our clients.

Having spent my entire working life supporting vulnerable people, I am passionate about providing quality care and am pleased part of an organisation which places the clients at the heart of everything we do. My goal is to ensure our staff get to know our clients and that we set consistently high standards in the care and companionship we provide.
Outside of work, I am a family man, who has experience supporting my ageing mother, this has enabled me to better understand and appreciate the importance of matching the right Care Professional to each client, and ensuring our client's wishes are respected.

I’m realistic enough to recognise we won’t get it right all the time, but I am committed to ensuring we invite feedback and continue to learn and develop, as a team. For me, it is vital to have staff who share my values and embrace a learning culture.

For me, the most important thing is to love the job you do.
