Rated as Outstanding by CQC in November 2019, Home Instead (Dudley and Sandwell South) pride themselves on keeping the client at the heart of everything they do.

They support older and vulnerable adults to remain in their own home, as independent as possible for as long as possible. Following a conversational assessment, the client receives a plan of care which is personalised in every aspect of their life.

Care is not a one size fits all and this is something that Home Instead truly understands. They offer a wide range of services including, companionship, medication management, personal care, meal preparation and serving, shopping, accompanying to appointments, and support for the client to maintain their social life or continue to take part in activities or interests. They also provide respite calls for families caring for loved ones, specialising in Dementia care, which enables the family carer to pursue an activity of their own choosing, knowing their loved one is being cared for as they would.

Their CAREGivers are chosen for their personality, kindness and empathy, as well as a real desire to work with older people and make a real difference to their lives.

CAREGivers receive in-depth initial and ongoing training in a wide variety of topics to enable them to deliver bespoke care which meets the needs of the client and their family.

When employing a CAREGiver, Home Instead Dudley always uses the 'mum test' as their benchmark - if the person would not be sent to care for a member of their own family then they are not employed.

They know how difficult it can be caring for a loved one and Home Instead Dudley understand that supporting the family is also an important part of their role.

My mum has just died peacefully aged 94 after a short illness.
For the last 4 years, she has been loved and cared for by a wonderful team from Home Instead. Despite mobility issues and slight dementia, she was able to stay in the home she loved surrounded by all her familiar fixtures and fittings until
the last week of her life thus enabling her to achieve her greatest wish. Thank you to everyone at Home Instead for allowing me to be mum's daughter whilst you provided superb care.

From the initial review to the time my mother was admitted to hospital she received a loving, caring and professional service from Home Instead. There were a few concerns but these were dealt with efficiently and promptly. I would recommend this company wholeheartedly.

All of the staff are extremely friendly and professional. They take their time to talk to both my dad and mum. No job is too much. Where staff always perform to high standards, having Home Instead Carers has made a huge and positive impact on my parents' lives. Dad looks so much healthier and mum is
so much happier and more relaxed. Thank you to all involved.

Very pleased with service.
Introduction of carers in advance and to any temporary replacements.
Observation of mum's demeanour - "quiet" "not her normal self" shows particular observation and care.
Seem to have good office support.
All staff pleasant, polite and appear caring.

My aunt has been receiving care from 'Home Instead' Dudley and Sandwell South for nearly 18 months. We are very impressed with the care they give. Nothing is too much for them and I feel happy in the knowledge that my aunt is receiving the best possible care which gives me peace of mind.

After 40 years of nursing latterly as a community matron, I have experienced many different home care agencies. Some good, some not so. When my Father-in-Law needed support to enable him to be safe at home and coping with memory loss, Home Instead was recommended to me. My Father-in-Law has found the
care given very supportive, friendly and understanding. It is tailored to his individual needs and just 2-3 carers visit him to ensure continuity. We live 30 miles away but feel confident if any problems arise Home Instead will contact us promptly. Home Instead is the best home care agency I have encountered.

At short notice, Home Instead was able to supply a carer to help me after having a mastectomy. I met the carer before the operation and so knew who to expect when I was discharged. She was always willing to help me with any jobs that I found difficult and or painful. As we were so well matched, we were
able to have interesting conversations which helped to take my mind off the pain.

The Dudley (Netherton) service is outstanding and excellent in every respect, from the quality and character of the caregivers through to the office staff and management. The only reason for ending the service was mum's need for 24-hour care. I wish she was still being looked after by these wonderful
people.

All carers went above and beyond their duties to ensure that my Dad's final days were as happy and fulfilled as possible.
To quote my Dad's own words "if he had hand-picked his carers he could not have wished for any better care".

My carers are so good - they come every day and cook me some lunch. They do household jobs for me because I am very disabled.
They are so kind and thoughtful - nothing is too much trouble. Small bits of shopping form the little shop etc.

Since using the services of Home Instead, my mother-in-law's life changed dramatically. They were able not only to give us a break from caring for her , but they provided a companionship service where they could sit and chat and listen to her many stories. They are always on time, very efficient and
ensure that the calls are covered if the regular caregiver cannot attend. My mother-in-law thinks of then more as friends than caregivers. They are also very helpful with advice when needed.

A carer comes at breakfast time each day. Always greets her with a cheery smile, washes her, dresses her and does her hair (that really makes a difference). Whilst she has her breakfast she makes the bed and does the washing, then there is time for a bit of conversation. Another carer comes at tea time
and gives her a shower and gets her nightie and dressing gown on. She cooks the evening meal and there's time for more conversation. A number of carers share weekend duties but they work together well as a team. In fact she says she doesn't have carers she has friends!

The company has cared for my elderly relative for the last 2-3 years. I have always found them to be very caring not only to the patient but to myself as well. They keep me up to date with all that goes on with my aunt which when I do not live near is very helpful. They give my aunt 24 hour assistance
and I knew that she could not be looked after better.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.833 for Home Instead (Dudley and Sandwell South) is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.833

Hello, I'm Marie

I'm the Care Manager here at Home Instead, but like everyone else, I began my career here as a CAREGiver. I knew very little about the care sector when I came to work here, but I knew it was an area I wanted to learn more about as I intended to go back to University to become a Social Worker. However, like almost everyone who works here, I found that I loved this type of work, what Home Instead stands for, it's ethos and quality of care delivered, so I stayed. My previous job was as Customer Services Manager at Dudley Zoo, so I know what it takes to deliver a great customer experience and have brought these skills to my current position.

I'm very proud of Home Instead and the work we do and, as Care Manager, I am responsible for all of the day to day activities and to make sure the office runs smoothly. The quality of the care delivered by our CAREGivers is extremely important to me and I refuse to let anyone 'rest on their laurels' as I am always looking for ways to continually improve our service.

In my spare time, I spend time with my husband, family and friends. I also enjoy reading, craft activities and learning how to better use technology. I am also known for my unhealthy obsession with stationery!

Hello, I'm Julie

I am one of the owners of Home Instead Dudley & Sandwell South. In the beginning, I did whatever needed doing - and to some extent, still do - however, my main responsibilities these days are compliance, planning and overall business development.

I am so proud of everything we have achieved so far at Home Instead and I am looking forward to continuing to grow without compromising the quailty of care we deliver. Our strap line on the company logo is 'To us, it's personal' this embodies how I feel about the company; looking after someone else's family member is incredibly personal, and we instil this in our staff from the very beginning.

When I trained and qualified as a nurse, care of the patient was very much our focus; over the years, this changed and it became more about targets and paperwork, so I left. I re-trained as a teacher and taught Health & Social Care in a local secondary school. When the focus of this job became about the results the children achieved, rather than the children themselves, I left there too. Now I am working in a environment where we get to make the decisions of how we operate as a company, I can promise you that our clients and our staff will always be the main focus of Home Instead.

In my spare time I enjoy anything craft-related, reading, jigsaws, recording our family memories for our grandson, and spending time with him and the rest of my family and friends. Like Marie, I, too have an unhealthy obsession with stationery and a bit of a Netflix dependency!

I love that this is a family-run business, and I love the family-feel we have created. Why not give us a call and let my family help you support yours?

Hello, I'm Ian.

I'm one of the owners here at Home Instead Dudley and my main responsibilities are all things financial and I also am actively involved in the initial training and education of our CAREGivers. I feel that it's very important that I am involved at this early stage of our CAREGiver's journey, as I want to make sure that the people we employ have the same values as we do. We can teach them to do the job, but we can't teach them to be kind and caring - that's who they are. I have to be happy that I would send them to look after members of my own family before they look after you or your family. Julie and I take the responsibility of owning a Home Instead Franchise very seriously and the quality of the service we provide is hugely personal to us both. We understand how difficult it can be letting someone else care for yourself or your loved ones, and through our relationship-led care, we hope to earn your trust and become part of your life.

I am a family man first and foremost and spend huge amounts of any free time with our daughters, son-in-law and grandson. However, I am also a lifelong Wolves supporter, avid horse racing (non-betting) fan and resident dad-joke teller. I am told that I have modelled my 'act' on Eric Morecambe's piano playing! All the right jokes, not necessarily in the right order - there's a reference for people over a certain age!
