We have used this service several times over the last couple of years and are extremely satisfied with the standard of care provided and the ethos to go that one step further than one might rightly expect. Unexpected events, such as power cuts, have been handled as if they were an everyday event and
no situation has in any way been seen as a problem. We have no quails in leaving my mother in their care.

Our carers have been a huge help to us. They have been understanding and caring and have done many tasks to make our lives easier - washing, changing bed linen, ironing etc.

Home Instead provided care for my Aunty over a number of years. The carers were always extremely professional. The management team were flexible and supportive whenever extra sessions were needed due to changing circumstances. The care provided enabled my Aunty to live independently for as long as possible.

Reply from Kate Smith at Home Instead (Cleveland)

Thank you for your kind review. It was a pleasure to be able to be so responsive to your Aunt's changing needs as they arose and enable her to achieve her mission to remain as independent as she could in the comfort of her own home.

My Father needed an immediate increase in his home care provision at very short notice on a Friday afternoon for a safe hospital discharge. His support was increased as he required from familiar carers even though his care package had only recently started before his unplanned admission.
Office staff
communicated clearly and were extremely patient and supportive increasing the care he required for the bank holiday weekend.
He was able to return home as he wished knowing he was receiving appropriate support to remain safe.
Thank you all for providing such a high standard of consistent care provision at very short notice immediately before a bank holiday weekend.

Reply from Andrea Walker at Home Instead (Cleveland)

Thank you ever so much for your appreciation. It is really nice to hear. It is often difficult with discharges from hospital (frequent mixed messages between hospital personnel!) to time everything to perfection, however, as usual, after a lot of ringing around between us and preparing for contingencies, we were all very pleased the right outcome was achieved for your dad to return home with the most appropriate and familiar support in place at the time that was needed. Thank you for taking the time to write this review.

Efficient, friendly, on time, caring. Nothing is too much trouble. Makes my elderly father feel at ease and comfortable in his own home. Dealings with the office have been smooth.

Carers come and spend time that is most convenient to the client.

Carers treat clients with respect. The cost is somewhat high, but you only get what you pay for!

We are very pleased your wife has a fantastic relationship with her CAREGiver having been very well matched together - all part of the bespoke service. The best care is certainly not the cheapest and we are delighted you regard the management team and employees so highly.

I would recommend the services offered through the managers’ team. They were courteous, punctual, professional, respectful, helpful and supportive to my mum's needs.
The manager worked hard to ensure rota was set up quickly when needed and nothing was too much trouble.
Thank you for caring for my
mum in her final weeks, which also gave the extended family peace of mind.

The staff from Home Instead have provided wonderful care to my mother who has dementia and lives in a care home. They take her out twice a week. They are amazingly patient with her as she is not always the easiest of people. They have considerably improved the quality of my mother’s life.

From my personal experience, this agency provides an excellent service to clients and support to family members. The service provided is tailored to the needs of each client and the carers are introduced before the first visit. For a while, both my Mother and Father were clients living in the same house
but with very different needs. The carers were chosen to meet their individual needs as closely as possible. For example, my Father needed personal care so a male carer was provided, my Mother needed companionship and support and so a female carer was provided for her. All of the carers will do as much or as little as the client requires, from having a coffee and a chat, doing light housework and ironing, preparing meals, helping with personal hygiene to going out for a walk or a drive. The carers quickly become friends and their visits are anticipated with pleasure. As a supporting family, we have trust in the agency and in the integrity of the individual carers.

Thank you very much for your kind review and we're so pleased you have found our Caregivers and service to have been precisely what you had been looking for. As you know we only employ Caregivers that we genuinely would wish to look after our own parents and therefore trust to help the parents of others. In return, your mother and father have been a pleasure to visit and we are honoured that you chose us to support them. Thank you.

I would like to share, by request of my parents (who were very reluctant to accept help in their home) how delighted they are with the home helper. She has been coming for just over a month now, for 1 hour for 3 days in a week and she has made such a difference to my parent's meal times. My parents
are now thrilled that they accepted Homecare Services into their lives, but even more thrilled with their carer. The area manager, after her induction appointment with my parents, knew just who would suit their needs and personality. I am very grateful for the attention to detail when selecting their carer. Thank you all so much.

Reply from Michelle Fairless at Home Instead (Cleveland)

We're so pleased that your parents have accepted support to retain their independence at home. Like many elderly people who often see any external help as an 'invasion', they have discovered that if they find the right person to support them, how quickly they become able to enjoy again those things they thought might be disappearing from their lives. We're glad mum and dad are delighted now.

I have been so impressed by the love, care and attention that Home Instead Stockton have given my parents over the past couple of years. They were a Godsend for myself and my brother and sister. My parents wanted to live in their own home and finding Home Instead made this possible. All the carers are
properly vetted yet they bring more than just professional care, they love what they do and they have been a friend, mentor and a loving companion for my parents. It has been so reassuring to know they are in good hands. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

We have been honoured to have been chosen by you and your siblings to support your mum and your dad with you all living elsewhere, though visiting regularly. Our Caregivers love to visit and have always been almost ‘possessive’ about being able to spend quality time with them such are the great relationships that have been established. Our ladies feel like an integral part of your wonderful family. Your review is lovely and summarises all we strive to achieve. Thank you.

The service Home Instead provide is first class and the best thing I have ever done. My Dad is 89 and in a home and can't get out on his own. My Dad very much looks forward to the visits and trips out. Even if my Dad is not well enough to go out he still remembers that his caregiver is due to come
on a Wednesday each week – one of the very few things he remembers.
It gives him something to look forward to and the caregiver will take him wherever he wants to go - the seaside, the countryside or a visit to where he used to live or will sit and chat and help Dad remember about the past by looking through photos. etc.
It's really good for my Dad to be able to get out and gives him a real lift. It also helps take the pressure away from me as I know that someone else is going to visit him.

Reply from Jo Page, Care Manager at Home Instead (Cleveland)

A lovely man - your dad is the perfect gentleman and loves to reminisce about his earlier days and enjoys great comfort knowing that his visits will always happen, week in, week out. Thank you for sharing.

Gavin

Gavin Morrigan

Job Title: Director

I am a local lad, born and bred in Stockton-on-Tees and after moving to London for university and a career, was drawn back quite quickly to my native area where I love to live and where I wanted to bring up my family!

Over the years, I have enjoyed many great times battling on the rugby pitch for Stockton Rugby Club, among other great teams, before my bones and sinews decided they just couldn’t cope with the strains anymore! More sedately, I have been a long-standing member and three times Chairman of Stockton Round Table. This involved me supporting many good local causes and charities, including the elderly, always wanting to be able to contribute to the good of the local community and wider area. On a work front, I have enjoyed a successful career working from the ground up to senior management levels in Human Resources Management and Organisational Development with small as well as very large organisations - I just love being involved with people.

I get a great deal of personal satisfaction from recruiting, training, developing and nurturing great quality staff who deliver fantastic services and who truly enjoy and are totally engaged in the work they do. Whilst always working very hard for other people to improve and bettering their organisations, my real quest has been to run my own top-quality business.

I bumped into Home Instead who were looking to open a new office in Cleveland and have not looked back! Home Instead is renowned for its excellence in providing superior quality care across the UK and the world…..now available to you where you live!

It is a genuine pleasure working with my partner Michelle, helping her realise her ambition to improve the quality of life, independence and happiness of our clients in their own homes where they want to be providing peace of mind for their families at the same time.

Equally, I am thrilled to be able to deliver a sought-after service in the community where I live and to create immensely rewarding local jobs for local ‘superstars’ to care for our local elderly. We love what we do!

Home Instead Cleveland is owned by Gavin Morrigan and Michelle Fairless - ‘real life’ partners as well as Home Instead business partners. Together they have had successful careers providing high-quality, reliable and dependable services with well-regarded companies.

Reason for starting Home Instead Cleveland:
For me it's quite simple, I love what I do! Making a huge difference to families!

I have developed a great passion for providing the highest quality service to older people and their families that sadly I just couldn’t find for my own family when we needed it.  Unfortunately, there are many, many people who continue to share my experiences. Knowing of the incredible difficulties and near-impossible challenges many families have faced when service providers have failed to deliver sometimes the most basic levels of dignity and care, my mission has become to provide the very best elderly care possible. We deliver what we promise. My dream to make a real difference is now a reality. It has been so rewarding to see the hugely positive impact that the service we deliver has on people's lives, not only the people we provide care for directly, but their families as well, providing them with much-needed peace of mind through our excellent care and companionship service.

The end result is that this combination enables us to help more people remain independent, happy and fulfilled in their own homes, where most elderly people want to be, for far longer than is often the case with their families knowing they couldn’t have made a better choice. A choice, sadly, I never had.

Outside of work, Gavin and I enjoy many outdoor activities, particularly in the countryside. We also have 4 children, well young adults really who themselves have diverse social lives and sporting interests outside of their studies or work. The final additions are our mischievous cat and playful black Labrador who ensure we are kept busy at all times! Very rarely do we find ourselves wondering what to do next or where to go!

Kate Smith is the Registered Manager at Home Instead Cleveland and joined the Home Instead Family very early in our journey in 2016. Straight out of college, she began her career with us and Kate has flourished and developed her skills to get to where she is now.

Reason for joining Home Instead:

I joined Home Instead as a CAREGiver in 2016. At the time I was very new to the working world having just left college and a part-time role with a food chain.

At the time I had no driving license so nearly never got the job, however, after reading to the very end of my CV Gavin noticed I rode a motorbike and the rest was history…

Clients loved that I rode my bike to and from their houses in all weathers to be there for them, and for one particular client, this was a huge topic of conversation being a former motorcycle rider himself.

I soon started working with a variety of clients and this instantly boosted my confidence and people skills and I very quickly realised what I difference I could make.

After some time as a CAREGiver, I was offered a position in the office where I worked with Gavin and Michelle on a daily basis, just the 3 of us! With only a handful of clients to look after.

Now with an office team of 17, I have had the pleasure of not only watching our office team and care pro team grow but to seeing the number of people we support in our local area remain independent at home double each year.

Hobbies/interests:

In my spare time, I like to take my dog Mabel out for long walks around Wynard Woodland Walk and Cotham Woods.

I am generally a creative person and enjoy most things of that nature and I am constantly trying new hobbies and projects.

Tell us something interesting about you that not many people know.

I grow most of my own fruit and vegetables in my garden/allotment and this is something that I really enjoy.

I love the outdoors so if I’m not out walking with my dog through the fields, we are camping and living the outdoor life. She is my little companion and has such enjoyment in my life.

Reason for joining Home Instead:

I joined Home Instead as I was ready for a new challenge. I’d always worked in customer service and am passionate about helping people. Job Title: Field Supervisor

Stevie is a Field Supervisor at Home Instead Cleveland and joined the Home Instead family in February 2021 with over 10 years of experience in a variety of aspects of care.

Reason for joining Home Instead:

My reason for wanting to join Home Instead is everything is done totally differently from the other care companies out there. I loved that they only do 1-hour visits. I believe that in that time you can build a relationship with the client and get to know them properly rather than just a flying 15-minute visit. I love how they do not wear a uniform. There are some people out there who do not want everyone to know that receive support so they just look like a family member or a friend, not a care professional. I love how they match each care professional to their client with interests and hobbies or even the area, so both the care professional and the client have something to talk about while getting to know each other.

Hobbies/interests:

In my spare time, I love spending time with my friends and family. I love socialising with my friends but also love spending time out walking with my family and my dog.

We love spending weekends out walking, whether it be around the local woods or up in Cod Beck. I also spend the weekends entertaining my 6-year-old daughter, whether it be at a soft play area or the farm, we do whatever we can together.

I also enjoy watching rugby and spending the weekends watching my husband play if we are not out walking.

Gaynor Briscoe

Job Title: Trainer

Gaynor is a trainer at Home Instead Cleveland and started with the Home Instead family as a Care Professional in September 2022

Reason for joining Home Instead:

I joined Home Instead as I was looking for a role in which I could 'make a difference'. I started as a Care Professional and when going through the Recruitment and Selection process I was overwhelmed by the knowledge of the trainer. This training gave me the skills, knowledge and confidence so that  I could go out and help Home Instead clients to live as independent lives as possible.  I was then given the opportunity to support the trainer and then follow the Home Instead training programme to help recruit new Care Professionals.

The one thing I inform future Care Professionals is that Home Instead is an amazing supportive company to work for. Every member of staff is approachable with any question that they have and we will endeavour to support each person out in the community.

Hobbies/interests:

I love spending time with my husband and going to new places as well as visiting places for the third and fourth time! We love visiting Scotland. I just love the peace and quiet!

I love food...any food. Nothing is as amazing as settling down for the night with a good plate of food and watching a movie.

When I have spare time I like to go to the cinema but have been known to fall asleep during the movie and wake up just before it finishes!

Whatever the weather you will see me wearing a scarf. I have numerous scarves that I can accessorize with my outfits. For me, I feel a little bit more confident wearing one when I'm either working in.
