My elderly mother has been using the services of live in care with Avelo Care since February 2019. My mother is extremely happy to have live in care, and she has two lovely carers who work four weeks on and four weeks off. This arrangement works really well for both the carers and especially my mother,
as both carers bring something different to Mum's care, ranging from conversation and company to general wellbeing and Mum is extremely well looked after. I am so impressed with how my mother is looked after, the huge difference this has made to her life and the most important objective that this enables her to remain living in her own home which is her one wish with dignity. I have no hesitation in recommending Avelo Care as the difference this has made to mother and family is life-changing for us all.

The owner, manageress and the team at Avelo Care have been a huge help in keeping dad safe and happy in his own home in Broadstairs. They are a critical part of Dad's support set up as he struggles with Alzheimer's. They are thoughtful in their approach, proactive and clearly experienced - we really
value that. They have got to know Dad well and continue to tailor their support to best meet his needs.

From the first contact, Avelo care have been an absolute pleasure to deal with. Professional, efficient and probably more importantly kind and compassionate. They are flexible when changes are needed and have even popped back when we have been away to do a last check in the evening. If something needs
bringing to my attention this is done in a timely fashion with care taken knowing that I teach. Although it took a while for Mum to get used to the visits (being a fiercely independent 84-year-old) she now feels totally comfortable and looks forward to them coming. Thoroughly recommended.

Initial contact and assessment of the client was very positive and it was clear that a suitable care package could be provided, tailored to need but also flexible if the level of care needed to be increased. After the first period of care at home, with sensitive and professional carers, there followed
a few weeks in a care home because more intensive support was needed. The client returned to their own home, initially with full-time care; again the carer was excellent and provided just the right support. The care need diminished so it was reduced to twice daily visits, then once a day and finally no care. The daily carers were slightly more variable than the full-time carers. The client is now managing very well on their own without support.

It has been a happy period in my life, since my wife died in January, only by the pleasant and effective service provided by this homecare service. The companionship and friendship have been important factors in my ability to continue a meaningful life as an old (91 years) pensioner, previously dependent
upon a loving wife, now greatly missed. A very good and valuable service indeed.

I found Avelo Care very easy to deal with in regard to every aspect of my mother's care, whether it be day or time changes to my mother's routine or when Avelo Care thought they should bring something to my attention. My mother always said how nice the ladies were and felt secure and comfortable in
their company. Professional company to deal with.

Since engaging Avelo Care to look after my father, I have found all of the members of the Avelo team to be extremely helpful, courteous at all times and a pleasure to deal with. This is especially necessary for me as I live so far away from my father and need to have a very flexible care package and

Shaun Parr

Job Title: Owner & Managing Director

Shaun is responsible for the day-to-day operations and service delivery at Avelo Care to ensure we meet our regulatory requirements as well as maintain our status as the care provider and care employer of choice in East Kent. Shaun is the CQC Responsible Individual for Avelo Care Services


Shaun has over 15 years of experience in the care sector, in roles mainly focussing on quality assurance, compliance and operational management. Shaun has worked at the Board level for some of the largest homecare providers in the UK and more recently has been supporting smaller organisations in consultancy and turnaround roles, achieving high levels of success in each of those appointments.


Shaun holds a Human Resources Degree as well as a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care.

She is very much the face of Avelo and provides a great deal of support to clients and their families as well as supporting our wider care team, very much a key role in our business.

Nikki has worked in the Care sector for 12 years. Before joining Avelo Care, she managed 2 Day Centres, the first a secure Dementia Unit with up to 20 clients visiting daily, and the second a Social Day Centre that catered for 60 clients daily.


Nikki is responsible for the onboarding of new clients, right through from the initial enquiries, to setting up the care package and introductions within the wider care team.


Nikki holds an NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health & Social Care.

Rebecca joined Avelo in 2017 as a community carer, progressing into her current role as a Care Quality Officer in June 2024. Rebecca supports the operational team and completes quality assurance, reviews, care plan updates and compliance checks to ensure our service delivery is the highest standard it can be.


Rebecca has completed her level 4 diploma in adult health and social care and is also a trainer for manual handling and mental health well-being.
