My elderly mother passed away mid December 2024. I have nothing but praise for all mums carers and and Ferndown management team. They all went out of their way to look after her and keep her happy, especially in the last few months of her life. She so looked forward to their visits. Visits were often
arranged last minute and with no problems. The team who took care of her on the evening/night mum passed away stayed to keep me company, ensuring I wasn't on my own until the following morning.
Thank you to everyone at Helping Hands Home Care. Always someone to care.

My mum gets good care from Helping Hands overall. Although more mature carers seem to give a better service and show more care than the young ones. I think more training is needed for younger, new carers. I am an ex-manager/trainer in retail and know your staff are only as good as their training!
Also,
think that there are times when my mother doesn't get her full 45 minutes care! Which is not good! (My mother has Alzheimer's disease).

We have had a number of carers over time. They have always been timely, courteous and mindful of our changing needs, especially over the period of the pandemic, as we were shielding. They have responded well to occasional changes to our schedule.

My mother finds the carers extremely friendly and helpful. They do exactly what asked to do, and often she does not need to ask them what to do as they use their own initiative.

A friendly service with regular carers (as far as possible). Local office aways willing to change work days and times, providing notice is given.
I have experience of an alternative caring company, thus mental comparisons could be made.

I already have recommended Helping Hands to two sets of neighbours. I am happy with the care I receive. They arrive on time are kind and helpful. I enjoy a variety of carers during the weeks as the differences in interests and family life are also interesting for me. They are always very pleasant, helpful
and professional. I do have to phone up to ask who is coming the following week and what time as I prefer to know in advance.

The service is good, but all we require is ironing and general cleaning (dusting, hovering), so our experience is rather limited.

Job Title: Branch Care Manager

About me

I am the branch care manager and it is my responsibility to ensure that we are running a safe service, our customers are happy, and that our staff are well trained and enjoy their work.

Like most people, I needed to find a job that worked well around having children. Domiciliary care fitted the hours I could work. After the first shift, I knew I had found the career for me. I looked forward to going to work and even after all these years, I still do.

Our staff are our shining jewels. The service they provide is excellent. I am very proud of every single one of them. They all have their own strengths which means we can cater to a large and diverse group of customers. I can honestly say, hand on heart, that Helping Hands is the best company I have worked for. The support is staggering and sometimes humbling. Especially from the staff on the ground.

I am a mum of three boys and I have been married for twenty years. I have a few hobbies which I enjoy a great deal. I am an avid reader and I am also pretty handy with a crochet hook. I am also a gamer and play a PC game called World of Warcraft. I enjoy spending time with my family. We are spread all over the country, so don't see as much of each other as we would like.

Experience and expertise

I began work in the care industry as a care and support worker and have worked my way up the career ladder. I have carried out most jobs within the office environment, from team leader to care coordinator, deputy manager and then finally branch manager.

I have completed my Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care and I am currently working towards my Level 5 diploma in Health and Social Care.

I joined care purely because it fitted in well with my responsibilities at home, and fell in love with the job. I couldn't see myself doing anything else.

Why I chose Helping Hands

I was looking for a new role that would have a better life/work balance. I applied at Helping Hands. Once I had spoken to the area manager, I knew it was the company for me. She was really nice, and supportive and gave a very good accounting of the company, the support I would receive and what the ethos behind Helping Hands was all about.

I want to grow my branch and do so with a fantastic reputation. I want Helping Hands to be the first port of call for all people in the area looking for care.

The people. Every day is different, with lots of laughs and giggles. With customers and staff alike. I look forward to going to work every day.
