My mother has sadly died recently. For the last few years of her life, she had Right at Home (Mid Sussex) carers. Everything about the people and service was first class.

What a delight it was to have got to know Mum these past few years. The staff were very fond of her and the relationships they built with her. Thank you for your very kind words.

The team of carers at Right at Home (Mid Sussex) are fantastic ladies. In the most difficult time of my life, my father needed help as he was terminally ill and these ladies helped me make the last days of my father's life more bearable. He died with all the love and care around him. One member of staff
especially worked so hard to ensure that the right equipment was received when he needed it. The member of staff and the team of girls were so good with my father, engaging with him, making him feel safe and cared for. I cannot thank this company enough for all their help and understanding. If your lucky enough to hire this agency you will be very grateful.

Thank you for such a kind review. It is particularly gratifying coming from someone who knows and understands the care industry. It was a privilege to support your amazing father at the end of his life and we were grateful for the opportunity to meet him and your lovely family.

I have found all the staff of Right at Home most helpful, friendly and professional through some very challenging and difficult times. My relative has enjoyed the company of all the carers as well as their thoughtful and attentive behaviour to address her needs whilst recognising her independence. The
family and myself are most grateful for the care that has been provided and also for keeping the family updated. I cannot recommend the team too highly for all that they have done.
Thank you again.

Thank you for your very kind words. It was an absolute delight to care for such an amazing character these past couple of years. We are also delighted that our colleagues at Right at Home have been able to support her in the area she has moved to so that she can enjoy some continuity with a company with shared values!

Most of the carers treated my husband with dignity and respect and gave me support at a very difficult time when my husband was dying. They were professional and caring and I felt I could rely on them.

It was a privilege for our staff to have got to know your husband over the past year and to support your family as best we could at a very difficult time. The staff were all very kind and caring often gong above and beyond their duties. They were company for my father and took an interest in him, often bringing him his favourite doughnut as a treat. There was always someone on the end of a phone. The office staff were equally as caring and reacted quickly
to any request. Everyone made things easy for dad and us.

We looked around for months before we chose Right at Home and didn't look back. Carers often went above and beyond what was asked of them, which made a massive difference to our Mum. Communication was good so we were able to resolve issues quickly. I loved the social events as it gave us the opportunity
to meet many of the faces behind the scenes.

Reply from Andy McNiven, Managing Director at Right at Home (Mid Sussex)

Thank you for your very positive feedback about our CareGiver and office support systems. We do pride ourselves on having a team ethic of all working towards the benefit of our clients. It is particularly pleasing to hear that you valued our social events. We feel it is an important part of what we do to bring people together in an informal fun environment where many can meet. It was a delight to provide support for your mother and we hope that she has settled well into her new environment. We are glad you chose us and felt it was the right choice!

Right at Home was excellent at looking after Mum at a very difficult time. Always friendly and happy to help in any which way they can. Not only the carers but the office staff and manager. Very easy to talk too, happy to add or change if required with care and all lovely people. Mum moved into a care
home at the end of October.

The carers were mainly experienced and sympathetic kind and generous ladies. It would have been much better if we had the same ones each day, e.g we would know who was coming on a specific day of the week. Communication with the office was very good any problems were quickly resolved. On the whole,
we were very satisfied with the service.

It was a delight to meet you in the office recently and a privilege to support your wife. Thank you for paying tribute to our fantastic team of caregivers. It wasn't always possible to send the same staff daily, but we always try and keep as much continuity as possible and try and ensure where there are changes, that clients are informed. We look forward to you staying in touch!

We could not fault the staff at Right at Home. Those who visited and cared for Mum took the time to get to know her and took an interest in her life. They ensured she was well looked after during their visits. The office staff were always very approachable efficient and professional.

Throughout our relationship with Right at Home, we received good, appropriate care, usually with a smile. My parents were well looked after with kindness and understanding. Back office support was professional, we were given schedules weekly which were sometimes changed late without any fuss. Very impressed
with this organisation. After an illness, my mother needed 24-hour live-in care, so our relationship with Right at Home ended.

Reply from Andy McNiven at Right at Home (Mid Sussex)

Thank you for the kind review. I hope that your parents have settled down well to having a live-in carer, and if your father ever wants to join me in a game of golf, the offer still stands.

Nothing but praise for the quality of daily care received. Caregivers are well supervised with visits by senior staff. Caregivers often went above and beyond, for example by cleaning and washing up.

My husband had severe dementia and was totally immobile having to be hoisted from bed to chair. He had 2 carers 3 times a day, most of which were very good with him. When I first tried them I stressed, because of his condition, it was important that he had the same carers as far as possible and I did
have to complain when they kept trying to introduce new carers. Fortunately, the last few months of my husband's life they did abide by my wishes and the carers could not have looked after him better if he had been one of their loved ones and many attended his funeral.

Reply from Andy McNiven at Right at Home (Mid Sussex)

Thank you for your honest review. We valued the very close relationship we had with you and your husband throughout the 2 years we supported you, during some often challenging times. As you were aware we always looked to have as much continuity as possible but naturally had to introduce new carers from time to time with the volume of calls required to ensure we could safely continue the service to the best of our abilities. We never took any new introduction lightly and hope that you always felt assured that you were being given the best attention by the management team, as well as by the CareGivers. It was our privilege to know you both.

Father had carers attend once a day in the morning to set him up for the day starting in March 2018. This then increased to two then three times a day over the following year until his death in February 2019. Every time I asked for a change of time of day visit or increased frequency and length of
visit it was implemented within a day or so. I found the company very accommodating. The lovely manager and other office staff often visited to check that my father was happy with the care given and often stayed a while for a chat. Mostly the same few carers attended which gave continuity, and father got to know them well. Being a retired policeman he had to know all about them and had great conversations.
All of the carers who looked after father were wonderful, cheerful and extremely compassionate.
I would recommend Right at Home Mid Sussex.

I cannot speak highly enough of the care provided and given to my late wife. The visiting carers were always professional but at the same time sympathetic and helpful (to me as well as my wife). My wife was 84 and I am 85 and the overall support given to us was really great.

We have been using the services of Right at Home Mid Sussex for a year for additional support for my 89-year-old mother. I cannot emphasise how pleased we are with the fabulous care and attention from the great team, from the professional and caring visiting ladies to the management team in the office.
Everyone has been honest and helpful and has listened to our requirements and requests and acted swiftly and with no fuss or bother. The communication is excellent with any concerns or issues being highlighted immediately. My mum, who was reluctant to accept help initially, is now in the swing of things. The support and backup (and peace of mind) in addition to our family input is invaluable to us all. Highly recommended from all of us and a huge thank you to all the Right at Home team.

Andy McNiven

Job Title: Managing Director

Andy joins the Right at Home network, after a long career in the leisure industry. Initially working as a qualified golf professional, his career branched into management, latterly managing large proprietary golf and fitness resorts.

In early 2016 however Andy decided it was time to channel his abilities into a business of his own, and of which he could be proud. Andy’s parents were owners of two premier residential care homes in Burgess Hill, and so having grown up in and around the environment, it was a natural choice to follow a similar path.

Andy explains “I have long looked to use my skills and knowledge in developing my own business, and with years in customer service, management and public relations roles, the care industry seemed the perfect fit for me to contribute positively back to the local community which has served me so well for the past forty years.”

“Having seen first hand the richness that quality care can bring to the lives of the elderly, I feel passionately that I too can follow in my parents’ footsteps, and make a difference to those deserving our support and understanding.”

“I am determined that Right at Home will offer the best home care service in the Mid Sussex area. We are building a team consisting of the best CareGivers, providing them with the right support, training and career development, within a fantastic working environment. This in turn ensures that our clients come to receive the highest standard of ‘person centred’ care – how they want it and when they need it.”

Andy still lives in Burgess Hill, along with his wife, two children and their dog. He still loves the occasional game of golf, plays football, is a keen supporter of Burgess Hill Cricket Club, and when time allows, likes to do crosswords, tend to his beloved garden and try to master the ukulele!

Lou has always wanted to work in care and since leaving school has gained hands-on experience within a number of NHS settings, care homes, hospices and individual private home care.

She has been working for Right at Home since 2018. Starting as a CareGiver, she always looked forward to the challenge of getting to know new clients, their families and what works best to ensure they are well cared for and feel safe within their home environment. Although her role has changed over the years, her passion for the role hasn't.

She was very pleased to be nominated for the RAH CareGiver of the Year 2021 and very proud to have won against stiff competition from all over the country.

In early 2022 Lou completed a level 4 Diploma in Adult Care and then became the Registered Manager of Right at Home Mid Sussex, a role that she is incredibly excited about.

My name is Kerry Tyler and I have recently joined Right at Home Mid Sussex as their Care Co-Ordinator. I started in care in 2013 when I worked in a local nursing home. Having discovered how much I enjoyed care, I moved to a well-respected domiciliary care company where I stayed for 7 years, increasing my knowledge and progressing my career.

In 2020 I took a year out to have my daughter, Isabella.

I decided to join Right at Home in 2021, as a Care Co-Ordinator, having heard what a great company they were and how they put clients needs at the heart of what they do.

Outside of work, I enjoy taking my daughter and 2 dogs out for long country walks around Henfield and Sussex where I live. I enjoy cooking and learning new recipes that myself and my daughter can enjoy.

Throughout the earlier part of my working life, I held a variety of roles in financial reconciliation and administration, acquiring a number of business and book-keeping qualifications along the way. Fifteen years ago, I left day-to-day employment so that I could focus on bringing up our two young children.

I later became a Teaching Assistant at the children’s primary school, enjoying a role where I really felt as if I was able to make a difference, and which I continued until this year when we decided to set up the business.

I am really looking forward to supporting Andy in developing the Right At Home Mid Sussex business, and learning more about the care industry, which is something I’ve never had involvement in before. I will soon be undergoing the same stringent training programme as our other CareGivers, so that I too will be able to deliver care in the homes of those that need us.
