The carers at Right at home in Mid Sussex are very kind, helpful and go above and beyond. I always feel reassured when they come to assist me, that they treat me with dignity and respect.
They are always on time, and I really like the relaxed way they don’t have a uniform.

My mother absolutely loves her carers - tells everyone that they are her favourite.

They are dependable, kind and respectful to my mother. She has Alzheimer's which needs a certain type of personality in a carer - patience being one of them. If they have any questions they err on the side of caution

and phone their office or person on-call who if necessary, which rarely happens, contacts me.

Most recently, one of the carers accompanied my mother to the Hospital. Flawless execution, which isn't at all easy when you're juggling my mother and a wheelchair.

Management is buttoned up, and bills accurately. They do whatever they can to accommodate our needs and the odd idiosyncrasy. Although I live a distance away from my mother, I'm pretty hands-on, which the office helps me with. They keep me in the loop via email as to what is going on. The Managing Director will always take my phone call on a weekend.

All in all, we are really happy and glad we picked 'Right at Home' as our care agency.

Thank you for your lovely review. I'm delighted with the relationship we have built up to ensure that with a joined-up approach we are managing to give your mum the support she deserves. It is particularly gratifying that she loves the CareGivers - I do appreciate that it hasn't always been plain sailing with other providers, so it is reassuring that we are on the right track!

There is nothing that this company and their manager have not been able to satisfy.

What is great is how flexible they have been when my parent's circumstances changed, health-wise, occasionally.

My parents were very shy, suspicious of any carer visiting and felt the daily intrusion would annoy

them.

Typically the family had identified that they needed help and they could not see that.

The carers have fully won my parents trust and they look forward to having somebody else to talk to.

They have even gained the trust enough where the carer shaves my father as he likes to keep neat.

Reply from Andy McNiven, Right at Home at Right at Home (Mid Sussex)

Thank you for your kind words. The CareGivers always look forward to visiting your parents and building relationships with them, and we look forward to the opportunity of continuing to do so for a long time to come.

The care my Dad received from Right at Home was excellent. I felt very confident that he was looked after with great care, compassion and respect. Although he was a quiet man he loved to see people and to have a chat with them. One evening when he wasn't feeling so well, they asked if he wanted them
to call me, he said yes and one of the carers stayed with him until I arrived. This was beyond the time when they should have finished work. Having found a good care agency meant that in the last months of my Dad's life, we as a family could step back from his day to day needs and spend more time just being with him.

Reply from Andy McNiven, Managing Director at Right at Home (Mid Sussex)

It was our pleasure and privilege to support your father towards the end of his life, and on the occasions I met him it was a delight to hear him talking with pride about his lovely, large family. Thank you, Wendy, for your appreciative words - it is gratifying to hear we made a difference for your family during a difficult time.

My mother-in-law has been enjoying Right at Home's services for nearly a year now. She was reluctant at first to accept that at 95 she needed assistance with house chores and shopping, mainly because she was concerned that things wouldn't be done to her high standards and that she would feel undermined
and patronised. However, the Right at Home carers are all very supportive, friendly and excellent cleaners/shoppers. She now agrees that she really benefits from the help and companionship they provide.

Reply from Andy McNiven, Managing Director at Right at Home (Mid Sussex)

Our CareGivers absolutely cherish their time with your mother-in-law, who is an incredible lady, with unbelievable energy! I'm always delighted when I'm needed at her house myself, such is her vibrant, positive and down-to-earth personality. We appreciate your kind words Sally.

Very happy with Right at Home - they go above and beyond, making sure everything is ok and nothing is too small. Having the extra help and support has given me more confidence and independence to do more and enable me to engage in more activities in the community.
I have the same carer every morning
which keeps everything consistent, means we have a good relationship and I don't feel like a stranger is coming in every morning.
Very happy with my care.

Our heartfelt thanks to Right at Home Mid Sussex for providing the kindest of live-in carers for our Mother, who had undergone major surgery for oral cancer. Right at Home took great care in getting to know our Mother and recommending a fantastic carer to spend three months with our Mother during her
subsequent rigorous treatment. The carer was undeniably instrumental in the swift recovery our Mother made from the operation and the Chemo and radiotherapy treatment that came afterwards, and we can't recommend the service Right at Home (Mid Sussex) give highly enough. Thank you again for everything!

It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to look after your amazing mother. We are so glad that we were able to source and support a carer who was so clearly able to build such a great relationship with your mother, and it has been particularly gratifying to see her come through this difficult time so strongly. We wish you and the family all the very best for the future.

It is an extremely worrying time when a relative comes out of hospital needing nursing care at home. This home care nursing agency responded to our initial telephone enquiry with speed and efficiency and promptly set us up with a home care plan to suit our needs. This was explained to us in detail and
very welcome help given to me on the financial aspect of the care. We were particularly impressed with the kind understanding given to us when we had to halt the care for a few days due to my husband being re-admitted to hospital. My son and I are very satisfied with the nursing care given to my husband and it is very reassuring to know that this will carry on for the foreseeable future and that we can increase the care if necessary. The nurses are all efficient, kind and understanding of my husband's disabilities and he is very comfortable with all of them.

Reply from Andy McNiven, Managing Director at Right at Home (Mid Sussex)

Thank you, Ann. It has been a pleasure looking after your husband, indeed our CareGivers look forward to the chats! It is great that we have a team who are so suited to caring for him and enjoy visiting you and your family.

As a recent user of Right At Home Mid Sussex services for my Aunt, I am very pleased with the service that has been provided. The actual carers have been gracious, caring and respectful of my Aunt, who has not always been the easiest of clients. As I am new to this situation and live many miles from
my Aunt, I have found the service to be extremely reliable and it has often exceeded my expectations. I have built up a good rapport with the Care Manager and the M.D, whom I have found responsive, informative and pro-active. They are helpful in every aspect.

Andy McNiven

Job Title: Managing Director

Andy joins the Right at Home network, after a long career in the leisure industry. Initially working as a qualified golf professional, his career branched into management, latterly managing large proprietary golf and fitness resorts.

In early 2016 however Andy decided it was time to channel his abilities into a business of his own, and of which he could be proud. Andy’s parents were owners of two premier residential care homes in Burgess Hill, and so having grown up in and around the environment, it was a natural choice to follow a similar path.

Andy explains “I have long looked to use my skills and knowledge in developing my own business, and with years in customer service, management and public relations roles, the care industry seemed the perfect fit for me to contribute positively back to the local community which has served me so well for the past forty years.”

“Having seen first hand the richness that quality care can bring to the lives of the elderly, I feel passionately that I too can follow in my parents’ footsteps, and make a difference to those deserving our support and understanding.”

“I am determined that Right at Home will offer the best home care service in the Mid Sussex area. We are building a team consisting of the best CareGivers, providing them with the right support, training and career development, within a fantastic working environment. This in turn ensures that our clients come to receive the highest standard of ‘person centred’ care – how they want it and when they need it.”

Andy still lives in Burgess Hill, along with his wife, two children and their dog. He still loves the occasional game of golf, plays football, is a keen supporter of Burgess Hill Cricket Club, and when time allows, likes to do crosswords, tend to his beloved garden and try to master the ukulele!

She has been working for Right at Home since 2018. Starting as a CareGiver, she always looked forward to the challenge of getting to know new clients, their families and what works best to ensure they are well cared for and feel safe within their home environment. Although her role has changed over the years, her passion for the role hasn't.

She was very pleased to be nominated for the RAH CareGiver of the Year 2021 and very proud to have won against stiff competition from all over the country.

In early 2022 Lou completed a level 4 Diploma in Adult Care and then became the Registered Manager of Right at Home Mid Sussex, a role that she is incredibly excited about.

My name is Kerry Tyler and I have recently joined Right at Home Mid Sussex as their Care Co-Ordinator. I started in care in 2013 when I worked in a local nursing home. Having discovered how much I enjoyed care, I moved to a well-respected domiciliary care company where I stayed for 7 years, increasing my knowledge and progressing my career.

In 2020 I took a year out to have my daughter, Isabella.

I decided to join Right at Home in 2021, as a Care Co-Ordinator, having heard what a great company they were and how they put clients needs at the heart of what they do.

Outside of work, I enjoy taking my daughter and 2 dogs out for long country walks around Henfield and Sussex where I live. I enjoy cooking and learning new recipes that myself and my daughter can enjoy.

Throughout the earlier part of my working life, I held a variety of roles in financial reconciliation and administration, acquiring a number of business and book-keeping qualifications along the way. Fifteen years ago, I left day-to-day employment so that I could focus on bringing up our two young children.

I later became a Teaching Assistant at the children’s primary school, enjoying a role where I really felt as if I was able to make a difference, and which I continued until this year when we decided to set up the business.

I am really looking forward to supporting Andy in developing the Right At Home Mid Sussex business, and learning more about the care industry, which is something I’ve never had involvement in before. I will soon be undergoing the same stringent training programme as our other CareGivers, so that I too will be able to deliver care in the homes of those that need us.
