Home Instead understands that your own home is where you feel the most comfortable and at your happiest. Whether it’s Bourton on the Water or Bishop’s Cleeve, it’s the place you know best and you are most familiar with.

Unfortunately, you may be faced with the possibility of having to move out of the home you love as you age and move into a care home, but this does not need to be the case. If you or your loved one want to remain living comfortably at home, then Home Instead can help you make that choice an informed one.

They are Home Instead in Cheltenham and the Cotswolds. They are changing the UK’s attitude to elderly care and to ageing with their distinctive approach to supporting people at home with dedicated and professional care.

I've been a client with Cheltenham Home Instead for around 6 months now and there is only one word to describe my carers ' Excellent'. They are kind and have a great sense of humour, nothing is too much trouble. They all come in with a smile it's a pleasure to have them visit.

Booking is never so easy. The cancellation window of 2 weeks is probably too short.
Carers are very good but sometimes the quality of cleaning isn't the highest. Other care is usually excellent.

Reply from Marie Atkinson, Registered Manager at Home Instead (Cheltenham & Cotswolds)

Thank you for your feedback! We understand that the 2-week cancellation window may not always be ideal and we'll take your comments into consideration for future improvements. Regarding cleaning quality, we appreciate your honesty and will ensure our team addresses this to maintain the highest standards. We couldn't be more pleased with the care given to our family members by Home Instead. We've had some difficulties with changes in the level of care needed, hospital stays etc and everyone involved has been very accommodating.
Due to distances, it's hard for the family to visit often enough for our
parents' needs but we know they're in good hands.
We very much appreciate the level of care and communication from the manager, which have both been outstanding.

Reply from Marie Atkinson, Registered Manager at Home Instead (Cheltenham & Cotswolds)

Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience with Home Instead. We understand how challenging it can be to manage changes in care needs and hospital stays, and we're thrilled to hear that our team has been accommodating and supportive throughout. We know that distance can make it difficult to visit as often as you'd like, and we're committed to ensuring your parents receive the best possible care. It's wonderful to know that you feel they are in good hands with us. We also appreciate your recognition of our manager's efforts in providing excellent care and communication. Your feedback means a lot to us, and it motivates us to continue delivering the high standard of service you expect. Thank you once again for your trust and kind words.Warm regards, Marie

The whole family appreciates the care and attention provided for Mum by the ladies from Home Instead. They have been visiting twice a week for two years ever since Mum started with slight dementia, difficulties walking and caring for herself. The day always starts off with laughter and Mum and Dad look
forward to their visits. All are smart, reliable, caring and competent, and what is very important is that they are good fun. They are also quick to spot anything that might need checking by the district nurse. We are grateful for their efficiency and their cheerful attitude.

Reply from Marie Atkinson, Care Experience Manager at Home Instead (Cheltenham & Cotswolds)

Thank you so much for your heartfelt message. We are deeply touched by your kind words and are delighted to hear that our care professionals have made such a positive impact on your Mum and Dad's lives. We take great pride in ensuring that each day begins with laughter and joy, and it means the world to us that you have recognised our efforts. It's wonderful to hear that we have been able to support your Mum through her journey with dementia, helping with her mobility and daily needs while also being vigilant about her health. The well-being and happiness of our clients are always our top priorities, and we are grateful for the trust you have placed in us. We will be sure to pass along your appreciation to the entire team. Your recognition of their hard work, competence, and cheerful attitude will undoubtedly bring them joy.

It is so nice to have a real meal traditionally cooked and tasting as it should. The staff knew what they were about and quickly found where everything was and had no problems making a meal. They had no problems with a strange kitchen and the equipment in it. Overall, an excellent start to the beginning
of the relationship.

Having suffered from Parkinson’s for several years, I had a spell at Christmas 2023 of respite care. As I live on my own, returning home was a move I couldn’t have made without the provision of care provided by Home Instead. Daily visits by their caregivers have subsequently made it possible to live
and thrive in my own home.

The carers are very professional and friendly. I find it difficult to cope with blanks on my schedule and not knowing who will be helping me on that morning, especially when two arrive instead of the person I was expecting without notice.

Overall I am very happy with the service Home Instead provide. All of the carers/managers are lovely and do an excellent job. Occasionally, this does not work out but I think this is down to the carer and what they want to do.
If you have had issues with carers before it might be helpful to let the
client know and the reasons so all parties are aware and something could be put in place to reduce stress. Better communication is vital so all parties are clear about the rules and boundaries expected in the home.

Reply from Marie Atkinson, Care Experience Manager at Home Instead (Cheltenham & Cotswolds)

We were lucky enough to find Home Instead by pure chance when my mother suddenly needed full-time care, as a result of her dementia. Home Instead have been caring for my mother for nearly two years and in those two years the care has been exemplary. We have met some exceptional people who have cared
for my mother beautifully. They have sung to her, played musical instruments, read to her, got responses from her that we, as her family, have not always been able to achieve, painted her nails and done her hair. We have had consistent carers whose tenderness in their care and attention have taken our breath away.
I really cannot recommend Home Instead highly enough.

Mum needed help to ensure she is eating 3 meals a day and also help with showering. She has developed a very good relationship with her main carer who really goes above and beyond to ensure Mother eats and that her house is kept beautifully clean and tidy. This continuity of care is so important.

The caregivers who work for this company are outstanding and go the extra mile even to the detriment of themselves.
The management has a problem communicating with each other and is even worse with the client. When changes occur which is inevitable they are not passed to the caregiver or client.
A
lot of office changes have occurred in the last year to address issues raised. The changes have had no effect as they didn’t address the route cause of the problem, accepting you have a problem and putting measures in place to improve the situation.
Their slogan to us 'it’s personal' takes on a whole new meaning as they take positive criticism personally.

Reply from Danielle Harris, Business Development Manager at Home Instead (Cheltenham & Cotswolds)

Thank you for your lovely comments regarding your care team we do agree our CAREGivers are outstanding.
We were sorry to read your review regarding communication and changes occurring, we have tried to work hard with you, addressing issues that you have raised with us. My care started in 2018 when I was discharged from a long period in hospital. I was in a poor state and had eating difficulties, had lost a lot of weight. Within a short time, I began to recover due to the excellent care of Home Instead and my amazing children. Home cooked food of my choice was a big
part of this.
Since then I have lived a better life with the help I have received, even through the COVID nightmare. I am grateful for all the love and care which has been given to me and I hope to continue in comfort for days to come.

Gloucestershire is such a beautiful county and I feel incredibly proud to have opened our Home Instead Senior Care office just outside Cheltenham. My twins were born in Cheltenham (a boy and a girl!) and go to school there, and we live not far away near Cirencester.

I have had a wonderful career, holding a number of Local Authority posts before becoming a corporate director here in Gloucestershire. I've been responsible for everything from customer service to community development, business improvement to staff training and I've learned a lot about what matters to local communities and older people. I was inspired by my sister and my sister-in-law to become involved in the care sector, both of whom work with older people. Home Instead Senior Care means I can have a real impact on the day to day quality of people's lives. It means I can provide the very best level of service on a completely personalised basis, which is exactly what I would want for my own mum.

Being the first care at home company in Gloucestershire to be rated overall 'Outstanding' for a second time running by the CQC (achieved by only a small number of organisations nationwide) is amazing and all down to the truly wonderful CAREGivers and fantastic office team who work with us.
