All the carers do what I ask, are very happy and I enjoy their visits. They make my life easier. I could not manage without them.

Bay Home Care, what a fantastic team lead by wonderful managers.
I live nearly 3-hours drive away from my disabled daughter but never need to worry about her care at all, due to the professionalism of this care agency. Obviously, throughout the Covid-19 lockdown, I have been unable to visit my daughter
and knowing that she is well cared for has been a weight off my mind.
I know my daughter is happy with the care she receives but knows that if she ever does have any problems or concerns she can discuss them with the care managers and have them dealt with immediately.
All the carers are very friendly whilst also being professional and caring.
Don’t know what we would do without this brilliant care team.
Cannot recommend enough.

In my experience (since end March 2019) Bay Home Care provides excellent care. All aspects of their care are excellent. All of the carers are skilled and knowledgeable in their work. They are very efficient and diligent and have excellent attitudes. They are extremely punctual and use the time available
to them well. The organisation and management of the care appear to be very efficient, rotas of the forthcoming week are always provided in advance and it easy to contact the managerial staff if needs be. The organisation has excellent links with the local District Nurses which, in my case, is very useful.
Although the carers visit me at home 4 times a day it doesn't feel as if they are intrusive, in fact, I look forward to them coming! All the carers have built excellent, appropriate professional relationships with myself and my partner. We feel very confident about their skills and they have become a valuable part of the network of professionals who work with me and my partner.

I submitted a review in June last year and wanted to update it. Bay Home Care have been looking after my step mother at her home since Jan 2018. Over that time her dementia has worsened to the point that, today, she moved into full-time residential nursing care. As her needs changed, sometimes suddenly,
Bay Home Care have been on top of every change, altering the care given, the times of the care, the number of visits per day, dealing with increasingly challenging (and sometimes threatening) behaviours and guiding me through every stage, including being incredibly supportive during the transition to residential care. The staff have been universally caring and just what my step mum needed. Special mention must go to the business owner who has dealt with my step mum with genuine love and affection, always knowing the right thing to say and do. I can only say thank you to all the carers and the business owner. It has been a pleasure dealing with them and I will, strange to say, miss them.

In 2012 my husband became ill with little warning and later died in hospital. Not long after, I developed epilepsy and after a late night fit. Paramedics took me to the hospital where poor vascular circulation was diagnosed. Then my left leg above the knee was amputated. Bay Home Care picked up the
pieces and found me this flat and we began to build up a life again, with support and respect, independence and belief (2013) in myself again. It has not been easy but with their help possible.

The service that I get is very good personal care who go at my speed as I have COPD.
They help me dress, wash and sort any washing I need doing. They make my breakfast and have my lunch ready for me. They come back to make my tea and get my bedroom ready.
Some do my clothes, wash up pots and take
the bins out. They get shopping in if I am running low on things as well.

I already had a leaflet, so when my wife was nearing coming home, I asked the company to give an assessment and the care they could offer. After visiting the hospital and having discussions with my wife and the nurses, I received a contract. My wife was frail with arthritis and a healing broken back.
She had a do not resuscitate notice for the first month, where two carers came four times a day. After the first month, she had one carer, four times a day.

Very poor agency. All the staff complained about the company and many have left. When they looked after my mum the office was abrupt and uncaring. They sent people into my house who weren't employed by them without my consent. I had to report them to social services and the care quality commission.
Moved to another agency which is vastly better
Beware!

Reply from Philip McDonald, Manager at Bay Home Care

Thank you for your review.

We had no complaints from the service user after completing over 18 months of Care and support. We did, however, receive several complaints from the service user's son after we terminated our support on the basis of his behaviour towards staff.

I can confirm he did make complaints to social services, however, these didn’t stand up. This was also the outcome of our internal complaints procedure.

Also for clarification, the people we didn’t employ mentioned in the review were social workers from the local authority we had asked to come and offer us some advice on moving and handling to protect the welfare of the service user and staff, this was done with consent from the service user.

I am truly happy you have found some support for your Mum she is a lovely individual and missed by the staff. Kind regards to you and your family - Phil

Bay Home Care provided care and support that enabled us to fulfil dad's wish to remain in his own home. Towards the end of his life, dad's needs were highly complex and I worried that he may have to move to a residential setting. However, Bay Home Care provided regular reviews of dad's care plan and
met each new challenge promptly. A small group of carers would visit dad and he got to know them all well and they him. This familiarity made such a difference and without the understanding and reassurance that this provided, dad's quality of life would have suffered. As well as helping us manage the big challenges, there was also sensitivity to the small things that were really important to dad, such as the need to never run out of food to feed the birds. He greatly enjoyed trips out with a carer and the tea and cake that accompanied such visits.
The company looked after us all, as a family we were able to take short breaks, knowing that dad would be safe and well cared for.

Bay Home Care looked after my elderly relative with Alzheimer's and dementia in her own home for over 18 months, visiting up to 4 times each day to ensure she was safe and all her care needs were met. The service was always reliable and consistent and delivered with great kindness by lovely staff who
surpassed all expectations in terms of their professionalism, integrity and understanding.

The management of the company took responsibility for organising and providing the care needed and keeping me informed at all times of the day to day situation and any changes or developments. Preparation for an accompaniment to medical appointments and hospital admissions was always provided, often at very short notice. Without this terrific service, my relative would never have been able to remain in her own home as long as she did and we are extremely grateful for all Bay Home Care did for us.

Thank you.

We have used Bay Home Care for the past 2 years. The staff have always been polite, courteous and cheerful regardless of time, weather and pressure of a sometimes unpredictable job. The care and comfort of the client is always paramount as we discovered in an emergency last year. The carer went the
extra mile to see the incident to the conclusion.

Being a small company, the whole team are aware of your needs and situation. The owners have had a lot of experience in the care industry and have helped me personally to sort out problems and point me in the right direction in what seemed to be a minefield of departments and agencies, For this I am very grateful and they remain my first point of call for sound advice in care matters.

My one caution to future clients - which is in no way a criticism - because it is a small company any alteration or addition to your caring schedule requires at least one week's notice.

Reply from Philip McDonald at Bay Home Care

Thank you for your kind review. A week's notice for alterations and additions would give us the best chance of successfully altering a care schedule with minimal disruption. We will always aim to accommodate our clients if this isn't possible though.

Bay Care have cared for my mum for over a year. My family and I could not have chosen a more caring, loving team who have consistently shown professionalism whilst giving our mum the same care and respect as if she was their own relative.
Whilst our mum resides in our home the carers have also shown
much consideration to the rest of our family to respect our privacy and go the extra mile to keep from any intrusion.
Being a small family run business under the guise of the managers, the individual carers are all amazing, each bringing their own personalities to this challenging role. My mum feels safe and loved 24/7 and this is due in part to this wonderful team we are lucky to have found.
Thank you to the managers - I can’t praise you enough and would recommend your care to anyone looking for a genuine personal professional care team.

This care agency is amazing. The staff really do care and if there are any problems you can speak to the manager and be sure that the problem will be dealt with promptly. They understand that not everyone gets on well together. If you have a personality clash with a member of staff once you let the
manager know they will try their hardest not to send that staff member to you anymore. Many times staff have come to my rescue when I have been out alone walking my dogs and my powerchair has broken down. Many care agencies in my experience would say no one could come until the next time you had a call for example at noon which is no good if your chair has broken down whilst crossing a road. This care agency will get someone to you as soon as they can to help you. They have also taken me to A&E when I have needed to go and stayed with me even when that is until 2 am and have even looked after my dogs when I have been admitted to hospital.
