Bluebird Care Lancaster and South Lakeland provides a full and comprehensive range of home care services, including live-in care.

The provider has been operating a local family business since 2014 and has established a reputation for delivering high-quality care. It is known as a provider of choice in the locality. All customers are informed each week of exactly what time their care visit will take place and which care assistant will be helping them, making daily planning much easier and taking the stress out of the process. Critical to Bluebird Care's offer is that carers always stay for the full duration of the care visit. Unlike with other providers it is never the case that travel time is taken out of visit time.

Support is offered to people who require extra help to continue living in their own homes, such as medication support, personal care and meal preparation. The provider also offers companionship visits as well as accompanying social outings or appointments and has an excellent track record in dementia care and complex care, such as end of life, as well as an overnight service.

A live-in care service is also offered, providing an alternative to a residential home so that the customer can remain within the familiarity of their own home but with full-time support. The Team are very proud of this growing specialism. Out of the 23 cases they have managed, the feedback has been consistently excellent.

It is the attention to detail that makes the difference and Bluebird Care enables people to have the choice to remain at home, living their very best quality of life. With this extra support, many people have benefited from an improvement in the quality of their lives and the opportunity to continue to do the things that they enjoy. Family members can relax, knowing that their loved one is properly cared for. The Team always works in close partnership with families.

I put in Bluebird Care Package for my mum a year ago, and both myself and my mum are really happy with the care provided. My mum has onset dementia but mainly suffers with severe anxiety and panic attacks so it is really important that my mum sees the same regular carers all the time, which Bluebird
provide. Bluebird give me peace of mind and provide a wonderful service.

Reply from Claire Evans, Director at Bluebird Care Lancaster & South Lakeland

Many thanks for this feedback, Julie. It's great we have been able to help improve your mum's quality of life and great too that we can give you peace of mind. We pride ourselves on our skills in dementia care (and the anxiety issues that so frequently accompany), developing our learning and understanding and building on our experiences.

Bluebird Care have been very professional and caring in their approach to my mother in law. The initial assessment was thorough and illustrated that the company understood all the complexities of caring for elderly people in their own homes. They have been very flexible at short notice. I was also impressed
by the medical knowledge and observation of the individual who has been involved in the set up of the care plan.

Reply from Claire Evans, Director at Bluebird Care Lancaster & South Lakeland

Thank you. We are delighted that you noted the depth of our medical and technical knowledge. This means that not only are our staff skilled in regard to care, compassion and social support but we are also equipped to support people with more complex health care needs.

Excellent communication with management/fast response.
Timing of carer visits as per schedule.
Cares are compassionate, very friendly, trustworthy. Time permitting, will offer to carry out small extra jobs. Will make time for conversation where possible. Food preparation/presentation very good.

Bluebird Care has been a great help to my mum, assisting her with basic daily tasks, since they started visiting. The carers have taken the stress out of worrying if Mum is coping by regular daily visits at a time to suit her.

Reply from Claire Evans, Director at Bluebird Care Lancaster & South Lakeland

Our key task is to care for people who need some extra support. But another hugely important part of our role is to alleviate the stress, worry and uncertainty often felt by a person's loved ones. This creates the space for a family to relax and be happy again. Thanks for this review, it's great to know when we get it right.

Bluebird Care supplied me with the most professional care I could have hoped for. All the carers arrived on time and were very friendly, and caring and nothing was too much trouble. All in all, I would recommend Bluebird Care to any person interested in care at home.

Really happy to have found such a care company who provides an excellent, professional service. Always going the extra mile with a positive ‘can do’ approach. Very flexible, with creative ideas and planning in connection to outings and thorough when it comes to checklists.
Recommend without any hesitation.

We have worked with Bluebird for the last two years - first for companionship support and then for live-in care for my mum who has Alzheimer’s. They have excellent, kind staff who quickly work out what Mum needs and how to make her happy and keep her relaxed. My dad was reticent about having live-in
care initially but 6 months in, he really appreciates the difference it has made to the quality of their lives and the upkeep of the house. The live-in care coordinator is really supportive and responsive. She is regularly in contact with updates or to discuss any little issues that need to be ironed out. On the rare occasion when the match hasn’t worked out, she has sorted it out within 24 hours which is very impressive. With me living over 3 hours away I feel 100% more relaxed knowing that she is overseeing the care for Mum and that the carers are doing such a good job.

Reply from Claire Evans, Director at Bluebird Care Lancaster & South Lakeland

Thank you for this feedback, Clare. Working with you and your family has been an honour for us, truly. It's also great to hear how you have appreciated the close and attentive management we offer at a local offer. Our live-in care service is very much a team effort.

All staff are very patient and caring. They try hard to understand the needs of my dad and communicate effectively to me on a daily basis. They understand that my dad may have different moods from one day to the next and they always do their best to respond to the situation on the day.

Reply from Claire Evans, Director at Bluebird Care Lancaster & South Lakeland

Thank you for this lovely feedback, Michelle. The carers work especially hard to ensure they get things right and it is a pleasure caring for your dad.

I cannot praise Lancaster Bluebird care highly enough. Right from my first phone call to them they have treated me with respect and genuine care throughout the whole process.
I used to be a carer myself and the standard they set is very high. Alongside this everyone I have met and talked to on the
phone has an easy but professional manner. Also a great sense of humour which I think is very important.
I have been searching for help for a long time and finding Bluebird has changed my life. Worries have gone at last.

Bluebird Care carers are friendly and attentive. They always put my mum first and keep in contact with me if there is something wrong with Mum. Mum's health can change quickly and the carers are thorough in reading their notes and keeping updated. We think ourselves lucky that we have them here to support
and care for Mum.

I have been a customer of Bluebird Care for around 2 years now a find the carers to be helpful the majority of the time. If I have any issues they are resolved in a timely manner. I am treated with respect and with dignity. I am able to have a good laugh with the carers. The best part about Bluebird
is that they are always attentive and listen to any problems I have. I would recommend Bluebird Care.

Bluebird have been providing care for, firstly, my mother who had Alzheimer’s and then my father for the last 2 and a half years. The carers are excellent - they are cheerful, friendly and very hardworking and always go above and beyond to make sure Dad is comfortable. When caring for my mum, who could
be very difficult, they were professional, very kind and patient.
The office staff are brilliant as well - any problems are sorted out quickly and they are very flexible about visits as Dad has a lot of hospital appointments. I would highly recommend Bluebird Care.

We really, really enjoyed caring for your mum and now we really, really enjoy caring for your dad. He is such a gent. All his life he has worked so hard and been so kind, so it is an honour to help make this phase of his life the best it can be.

Home care for my 93-year-old father with Alzheimer's disease and recent stroke.
Great staff all round. The carers are wonderful and deal very well with a client who can be difficult at times. They are clearly well trained, knowledgeable and professional and my father likes them!
The office staff are
again, superb. Any changes, issues and advice are never too much trouble. Always friendly, polite and professional.
Thank you all.

Hi, I have been a bluebird customer for two years now, and have loved the care, kindness, work rate, and general wellness the staff give you. They are by far the best I have ever experienced and are well above the standard of others I have been with in the past. Trust me pick bluebird for your care
needs you will never regret your choice I haven't! Everyone of the staff I have had sent has been trained to a high standard and before they are allowed to visit solo!
I can't speak highly enough of Bluebird they are what I was looking for and have now gladly found! You may look at prices and think higher than some of the other agencies but they are worth every penny it costs you! Everyone is spot on, how they treat you and I have been lucky to meet most of the carers, supervisors, and office staff and spoke to some of the directors, long may they look after me, I am now a happy recipient of their Bluebird care team!

Wow! Thank you Toni for the incredibly positive feedback. We are simply bowled over. Whilst we value all constructive feedback so we can continually improve, it is such a treat when a customer feels like you do about the service we provide. Our carers love the work they do for you Toni and you can be sure I shall share this feedback with them straight away

Would not recommend. On the surface care seemed adequate, but I realised calls were being completed drastically short of designated times. I raised the issue to be assured it wasn't the case. I continued to monitor and discovered even the team leader was call cramming. When escalated, directors promised
they were making constructive changes. In review they admitted, in their words, deception and failing to provide a sufficient service. While telling me they were interviewing the carers involved they also made a public declaration of Carer of the Month for one of the repeat offenders. Other issues raised, they blamed on human error in a challenging environment, error of judgement and glitches in their computer system. An issue of one carer eating food that I believe had been taken from the client's fridge was deemed acceptable if it was perhaps leftovers. I urge you to be vigilant. I truly hope no one else has to go through the pain and distress that was caused by this company.

Reply from Claire Evans, Director at Bluebird Care Lancaster & South Lakeland

We are grateful for all feedback - good and bad, as it helps us to continually improve.
A full investigation into this case was carried out by me, working with the relative. Certain members of our team had indeed deceived the author's aunt by leaving care visits early. On this occasion we failed in our commitment to never cut visits short. For that I am sincerely sorry. We have put a detailed Action Plan in place to prevent any future occurrences, including: disciplinary measures; full financial reimbursement; introduction of fixed geolocation to e-tag-in system; and increased audit of staff attendance records. We do fully accept that this element of our service was insufficient in this case but have now taken the necessary steps to address it.
We fully uphold our Duty of Candour. We shall always disclose when we've got things wrong and always be honest in explaining why.
We cannot find evidence for other claims made, this may be a difference of perception.

Bluebird Care has provided care for my grandmother for the past 6 months now live-in care and I couldn't recommend them enough, Without a doubt the best care provider in the area! All the staff who have visited or stayed at my grandma's have been fantastic and she looks forward to seeing them daily.

We first approached Bluebird Care because we urgently needed 24-hour care following the death of my husband. Bluebird had organised this in a professional manner in about a fortnight. My main carer is highly competent and kind, and I have every confidence in her. I have MND with complex needs, and nothing
seems to faze her.

We are so pleased things are going well for you. It's a big step to make a decision to go for full-time live-in care, but with all our live-in carers, you are in safe and caring hands. Also, our live-in care manager is always on hand to pick up on any issues you have, however small. Never hesitate to let us know if something doesn't feel right, and we'll do our absolute best to sort it out

My Aunt aged 92 lives in supported/sheltered accommodation and was a regular weekly Bluebird user for personal and domiciliary care.
She has been very poorly (including being Covid19 positive) and couldn't eat. Bluebird Care and their carers' have been wonderfully responsive to her situation and
have responded to her need for additional care and support. They have provided extra care sessions at little notice and with all necessary PPE continued to care for her until she became Covid19 negative. They have been exceptionally caring and supportive.

Bluebird organised both domiciliary care and live-in care for my mother. Both services were excellent and the transition to live-in care was smooth and managed very well. All carers loved their job and gave their very best. Carers are well supported by the Bluebird admin team which is very important
when looking after vulnerable adults. A great service - thank you.
