My aunt's care worker comes twice a day. She gets her up in the morning or prepares her for the day, as she now prefers to remain in bed. Services include body washing as my aunt is no longer capable of having a bath or showering. The care worker buys all her food and prepares her meals. She takes care
of the laundry using the washing machine in the flat. She also cleans the flat to an extent, including vacuuming. My aunt thinks highly of her and has said on many occasions that she is happy with the service she is getting. It allows her to remain in the flat and although she is no longer able to go out, it does enable her to retain a measure of independence. If I have one criticism it is when the usual care worker is on holiday or unable to attend my aunt for some reason. In the past, replacement care workers have sometimes failed to turn up and they do not seem well briefed as to her requirements, so a better handover would be helpful.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review and for providing us with such valuable feedback. I can only apologise for the problems you've highlighted, we set very high standards and are truly sorry to hear that this happened. I am putting new measures and procedures in place to stop events like this recurring and will be contacting you directly with more details. In the meantime, I will also make sure your Aunt's Carer knows how happy you all are.

My mum is very fortunate to have three lovely regular carers that look after her. It is so important that her care is continuous and they have each developed a rapport with mum and understand her needs. They are very caring and keep me updated regularly. The staff are professional and courteous and
quick to respond to emails/calls. I am contacted on a relatively regular basis to ask if mum and I are happy with the care provided and to ask our opinion. I cannot recommend them highly enough - thank you.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.941) out of 10 for Axela Care Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.941 for Axela Care Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (16 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 17 Ratings = 4.941

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 2 points in total for each of the next 9 Positive Reviews (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.1, 7th = 0.1, 8th = 0.1, 9th = 0.1, 10th = 0.1)

The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Axela Care Ltd is based on 3 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 = 4

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
