My aunt is more than happy with her carer. She trusts her and looks forward to her visits. Her carer is very professional hard working nothing is too much trouble. She is guided by my aunt does whatever is required, whether that is help around the house or visits to the supermarket. We can't thank her
enough for all her hard work. We would gladly recommend to others who need support in the home.

We have been using Helping Hands for a couple of years and the service has been consistently excellent. Dad is very happy with the carers who visit, and they are always friendly, caring and trustworthy. He worried initially about having someone visit, and it is difficult for us all to admit when we
need help, but the office staff and visiting carers have shown real care, compassion and understanding as we have sorted out the service we required. We approached Helping Hands to accompany dad to the supermarket once a week, and they will also have a cup of tea, a chat and a walk as time allows. This has helped dad keep a level of independence, he looks forward to the visit and it also means we can rest assured that he has groceries and food between our family visits. Thank you to all at Helping Hands, in whatever capacity. In my opinion and experience, this is an excellent service.

All carers are polite, friendly and competent. If sometimes they are not punctual, there is normally a good reason. In over 12 months I do not remember being dissatisfied with a carer to the point I have wanted to write a complaint.

We are very pleased with the support for our daughter. The member of staff is always kind and helpful, sensitive and always on time. She makes sure that she asks what is required and does what our daughter needs on the day. The office staff are also really great. Can't fault this service.

I and Mum are more than happy with the care provided: named dedicated carer, professional, caring and considerate care is reviewed regularly, easy to contact the office, and monthly invoices are clear and on time.

My Dad is an active 87-year-old who has many friends but nonetheless, I wanted him to have additional support and social visits. He has a weekly cleaning service from Helping Hands and two social visits per week and is very much enjoying the extra care. It gives me peace of mind as I don't live close
to the area and it's good to know that he has a pattern to his week. As time goes on we will probably increase the social visits to include weekends but for the moment he is very happy meeting new people and showing them his paintings and sculptures. I am enjoying the tidiness of his house when I do come to stay.

We employed Helping Hands a couple of years ago when my mum started showing signs of dementia and poor mobility. We started with one visit a week going up to almost 24-hour care at the end. She is now in a care home and we still have her favourite carer visit her because Mum liked her so much.
They
are a reliable and professional company who try to help with anything you throw at them. No request was turned down. The management team were wonderful and organised and the carers lovely and very caring.
I would recommend anyone needing help in this way consider Helping Hands.

Fantasy Helping Hands!
I would like to say how very helpful, accommodating, understanding and friendly the team at Sheffield have been with my Mother.
Special thanks should go to all the team, and also a special mention to the carer who managed the impossible of making Mum smile on her painful days.
Wishing you all, further success in the future!
Best wishes!

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.938 for Helping Hands Home Care (Sheffield) is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.938

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Helping Hands Home Care (Sheffield) is based on 8 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 4.8

About me
Hello, I’m Jess, your Hourly Branch Manager in Sheffield. It is my responsibility to manage all aspects of the branch and I aim to provide only the best possible service to all our customers and work with them, their families and other professionals to develop person-centred support plans. I will guide and support an excellent care team to deliver the highest standard of care possible to all customers of Helping Hands.

Experience
I have had a very enjoyable 10 years of working in the care industry. I started out as a support worker, and over the years I have gradually progressed up the career ladder to the position I hold today. I am currently working through a level 5 diploma higher apprenticeship in leadership and management in health and social care (adults setting).

Why I chose Helping Hands
I decided to join Helping Hands as from what I could see, it shared my own values and I liked the company ethos.
I currently have a very small team of carers, which I hope to expand successfully to match the growth of the branch. I like to work very closely with all members of my team, offering them support day or night. Having experience of working as a carer, I feel that carers are very under-valued and their hard work often goes unrecognised. I fully understand how demanding and difficult the role of a carer can be and I want my team to feel valued and to know that their efforts and commitment are appreciated. I aim to provide an open door policy in my branch, so my team feel comfortable and confident to come in and address any issues they may have. I also encourage suggestions, ideas and feedback from my team so we can continue to improve, whether it be the customer, carer or general public that benefit.
