The Review Score of 9.2 (9.167) out of 10 for Helping Hands Home Care (Horley) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.
The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.
The Average Rating of 4.917 for Helping Hands Home Care (Horley) is calculated as follows: ( (22 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.917
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').
The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 2 points in total for each of the next 9 Positive Reviews (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.1, 7th = 0.1, 8th = 0.1, 9th = 0.1, 10th = 0.1)
The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Helping Hands Home Care (Horley) is based on 4 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 = 4.25
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Branch Care Manager
About me
I am the branch manager here at Helping Hands Horley; I am the face behind the scenes. I oversee the running of the branch and ensure the safety of our customers and carers during the visiting hours we provide. I complete assessments and care reviews as well as completing care calls myself so I can stay in the loop of the staff's day-to-day work.
I joined care when I was 15 years old in a residential home, doing some cleaning and preparing drinks for the residents we cared for. I worked my way up to a carer, then senior carer, and on to management. I have also worked at the local hospice to support people at the end of their life.
Helping Hands is a fantastic company to work for and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, there is an outstanding level of support. The carers always give 110% at each visit and always go above and beyond.
I have 2 children who I love spending time with on our days out. I also have a rescue dog who is now 7 years of age and we love walking in the woods.
Experience and expertise
I have always been in care and have been in residential homes, nursing homes, and domiciliary care, and have worked in a hospice for end-of-life care with patients.
I completed my advanced apprenticeship in health and social care level 3 in 2012 and I am currently completing my Level 5 in management.
I started in care when I was 15 years old, which is now 19 years ago. I have been a senior carer running the day-to-day shifts in a care home, and I have been a nursing assistant supporting the palliative care nurses with medication and end-of-life care. I have completed catheter care and insertion training, and have training in wound management and phlebotomy.
Why I chose Helping Hands
I chose to join Helping Hands when I looked up the website and saw the reviews from the staff, customers, and their families. I had applied as a carer but when the branch manager contacted me for an interview she offered me a position as a care coordinator in the office, and I then progressed to being a care manager.
I always look to ensure we are giving the best possible care we can. If there are any concerns the carers have about the customers they always ring it into the office and we act immediately. I always ensure we use the same regular carers for our customers and ensure our compliance is up to date.
I love being able to ensure people are remaining at home for any care they require. It can be very upsetting for the customers and their loved ones should they need to go into a care home, but we enable customers to remain in their own homes with familiar surroundings and to be with their loved ones.
