Most of the carers provide very good care. Sometimes they forget things but not all of them, and not often.

Found our carer very good, efficient and pleasant at looking after my wife who is very pleased she is our carer. She also checks on what I do, makes suggestions on how to do it correctly. We both hope she stays as my wife carer for many years.

Choice of care provider is important. From the start Helping Hands Home Care (Derby) were impressive being able to care for my wife immediately.
Helping Hands Home Care (Derby) carers promptly established close patient rapport.
The response of a needy patient to a carers arrives needs to be instantly
positive. It was a joy to see how a dismayed and confused sufferer could suddenly be smiling. Even though caring can be uncomfortable, friendly and confident treatment puts patients at ease.
The Helping Hands team have caring in their bones.
Wide ranges of skill and flexibility. From the straightforward to the unusual nothing surprised them. Quick reactions to changing situations. Contacting other services like District Nurses or even facilitating a change in regime. Carers who noticed things, a spot of blood in a catheter tube, a change of skin condition, whatever. Not just noticed... did something about it.
It's not just the patients. Care is vital for others involved, loved ones, relatives; everybody.
Helping Hands optimised their services for best value, especially important for self-funders. It's essential to recognise the emotional and financial strains that all parties are feeling.
Helping hands quickly became like family.

Helping Hands are excellent care providers. They are professional, friendly, caring and really care about doing their best for the client. I feel my dad is in safe hands and I can relax knowing he is well looked after on the days family are not caring for him. Dad gets on really well with his carers
and they all treat him with respect and as an individual person. My dad has a combination of vascular dementia and Alzheimers.

Satisfied with all aspects from administration to the care Dad receives. They understand that at the moment it is company needed but we presume this will change.

I started with Helping Hands around two years ago, and they started out being the best agency we, or at least I, had been with for my care. I would say that the first year was amazing, but unfortunately, in recent months the carers have not been up to the standard of care I was receiving in the early
days.

I am 80, disabled and live on my own. I have used the services of Helping Hands Home Care for about five years and they have made it possible for me to remain in my own home. Carers come three times a day, providing personal care, laundry and some domestic work. Over the years I have had many excellent
carers. Occasionally, I have experienced some inadequate ones as well but they tend not to stay for long with this company. In the main, my experiences have been good and I thank them.

Helping Hands have been looking after our mother at home for the past 3 years. They have been very flexible, increasing and decreasing the number of visits depending on Mum's care needs over the years and have always been extremely reliable come sunshine or snow! The Helping Hands team have been caring
and attentive and spent time getting to know Mum and chatting with her whilst undertaking their duties which have been of particular benefit during the isolating times of Covid. The team have also communicated promptly and effectively with family when needed. The services provided have allowed Mum to maintain her independence for as long as possible in the comfort of her own home and Mum has always been treated with dignity and respect.

Job Title: Branch Care Manager

About me

As a branch care manager for Derby, it is my responsibility to lead both the branch and community team to ensure that the day-to-day operations of the branch run smoothly whilst adhering to CQC regulations and adhering to Helping Hand's values and principles. I strive to make a positive environment for all and ensure the customers are safe and free from any harm or abuse. As a leader, my goal is to ensure the carers have the right tools to do their job and are equipped with as much knowledge as to feel appreciated and valued. This way, I can assure the customers are receiving the best care they deserve.

Experience and expertise

I have 15 years of experience in hospitality management, focusing my time on customer service and management. I moved to Derby in 2017 where I started my career at Helping Hands as a carer. My aim was to exceed customers' expectations in their own homes. Given the right tools and support, I grew within the company in every role before becoming a branch care manager.

Why I chose Helping Hands

The care we provide is tailored to the customers' needs and unique to them. It would be hard for me to sell something I never believed in; I believe in the care the carers provide and I believe in the company and the standards that it upholds.
