My father needed some additional support but was reluctant. The Helping Hands people responded to my concerns to this with assurance and patience. The care then given was very well received and always with understanding.

Always arrives and makes sure my father in law is fed and food left for his tea time too. Anything he asks for they will help with that too if needed. Liaises with a family member is if there is a problem.

My husband has been under the care of Helping Hands Home Care since February 2024, initially as a companionship visit then for full personal care since June 2024 due to his deteriorating Alzheimer's condition.
I've found all his carers to be professional and compassionate throughout his journey, despite
his often difficult behaviour. Nothing too much trouble.

Excellent service, both professional and friendly.
The team organised and provided transportation for my parents on Christmas Day to our home (2 hours away), and stayed on hand to provide whatever care support was needed, got on well with my parents and integrated with the family joining us for Christmas
dinner.
Would recommend and my parents are using again. Thanks.

Thank you so much for all your care, attention, reassurance and for your can-do attitudes. You've restored our faith in care providers, plus already enabled us the family to dare to go away for a night or two, having complete confidence that Mum's in great hands.

We've been using helping hands for 27 months. The report the carriers have built with my grandmother is excellent. They show complete compassion, dignity and respect. They take their time and are extremely patient with her. They also take the time to talk to me and ask him for I'm OK in my caring role.
The only downfall is the cost of the car as helping hands is one of the most expensive providers. My grandmother won't be able to continue to afford the care once her savings run out.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.896 for Helping Hands Home Care (Eastbourne) is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.896

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 2 points in total for each of the next 9 Positive Reviews (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.1, 7th = 0.1, 8th = 0.1, 9th = 0.1, 10th = 0.1)

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Helping Hands Home Care (Eastbourne) is based on 8 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 4.8

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Branch Care Manager

About me

I have been working for Helping Hands since December 2021. As a branch manager, I'm responsible for ensuring we are providing a safe, person-centred, outstanding service to our lovely clients and their families. My journey into care started when a family member was suddenly needing End of Life (EOL) care, and from this time I realised how crucially important the care industry is. Together with my team, we have a wealth of knowledge and expertise, and we are dedicated to delivering this service to our local community. Since starting my journey here I have obtained my CQC registration and NVQ level 5 in Leadership and Management.

In my spare time, I like to be with my fiance and our two children; I could watch Harry Potter all day! I am a huge animal lover, and enjoy travelling and reading; I am a complete bookworm!

Experience and expertise

I started working in care in 2012; at this point, my Nan was terminally ill and required 24-hour support. Since then I've worked up to a Senior Carer, Care Co-ordinator, Senior Care Co, Office Deputy Manager/Training Co-ordinator, Branch Manager and lastly, a Registered BCM.
I have completed Train the Trainer and delivered 4 days of training every week for a year for all new carers. I completed a 6-month-long EoL care training course, which was very interesting and I feel I specialise in this and can give lots of support to my team in this area. I worked for Helping Hands 2018 - 2020 as a Care Co for Eastbourne, then BCM for Brighton and Eastbourne. I was re-employed by Helping Hands in Dec 2021 and returning was the best thing I have done in my career thus far.

I recently completed my NVQ level 5 in Leadership and Management.

Why I chose Helping Hands

I joined Helping Hands as I believe they are the best company; they are transparent and a great company to work for. I am looking at the growth of our branch by recruiting the best carers and delivering care to the highest standard.

I enjoy hearing about our successes, whether this is from a customer who has got better and no longer needs our service and is greatly happy for our care, to customers who are EoL and we've been able to support them in a best-dignified way until the end. I enjoy seeing my care team flourish, from often very nervous carers, to someone who is ready for every challenge. I enjoy seeing all the great things my carers and customers have achieved!
