4. I am very happy with the group and wish them well for the
future.

Excellent communication and help from the branch office.
Thoroughly pleased with the level of care given to my mother. Carers show a genuine concern for her and go out of their way to make sure she is comfortable and at ease. My mother trusts the girls. Both she and myself have positive relationships
with them.

Our carer comes one hour twice a week. She is very competent and is prepared to do any task. she has only been with us a month and it is sometimes difficult to find a job to do but I am sure that this will get easier as needs become greater.

My father became a client of Helping Hands a few years ago.
From our first contact with the company we were made to feel welcome and at ease.
It was the best move we made as my Dad was struggling to keep his independence and safety in the house. We did fear he would have to move into a nursing home
which he would not have wished for.
However, the Helping Hand Carers have enabled him to stay in his own house. The carers were always kind, friendly and helpful; and nothing was too much trouble. They were skilled, well trained and became like friends to my Dad.
Highly recommended Care Agency.

From the moment our family made contact with this company we were made to feel at ease. The manager came to my grandfathers home at a time that suited him and was very informative about the services they could provide.
My grandfather didn't want care but after the first initial few visits from the
carers, he changed his tune! Now all he does is talk about the girls and he generally appears happier.
It has taken the strain off my nan who was struggling to cope on her own.
The staff are friendly and appear to really enjoy their job, they treat my grandfather as a friend and we couldn't have asked for more.
Very happy with the company and would most certainly recommend them.

We had a two week holiday and Helping Hands let one of their carers to assist with my care. Nothing was too much trouble for her. It was an excellent experience I could not praise her enough.

My mother is elderly and in poor health. She lives alone, 130 miles away from me; my sister also lives at a distance. Helping Hands has provided care for around the last three years. To begin with, this simply meant a carer visiting a couple of times a week to check that all was well; however, as my
mother's health and state of mind have deteriorated, you now visit more frequently. All your carers have been good; some are exceptional and have given care far exceeding that demanded by their job description. They have helped with a huge range of practical tasks (ranging from cleaning, ironing and food preparation to computer help or cutting the cat's claws!) and have also given invaluable emotional support. Thank you very much indeed! I really don't know how we would begin to cope without you.

The manager and her team at Stoke have been fantastic. They came in to care for my uncle when he was in need of end of life, they were very proactive and set this up almost instantly. The support we received was great. The carers were very polite and had a caring nature. We are very grateful that they
were here for him in his time of need.

They are sending carers that are young and inexperienced, don't know how to do the job. The rest of carers don't have much idea how to deal with my problems. Have caused me two weeks of pain with no sleep and I am paying money for this. Out of all the carers they have there is one lady who is brilliant,
the rest don't listen to advice and do things their own way and then other people, like nurses, have to step in and rescue the situation. If I knew what was going to happen I would not use them they have no idea how to deal with bedsores, my problem.

Job Title: Branch Care Manager

About me

Hi, I’m Jennifer, area manager for Helping Hands’ Central region. I believe it’s often the little things in life, like a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, which all have the potential to turn a life around. Almost anyone can become a carer but its takes a whole lot more to actually care. It’s my responsibility to meet with customers to gain feedback on a regular basis and ensure that they are happy with our service, to meet potential new customers face-to-face and to manage a wonderful team of visiting carers, supporting them with supervisions and appraisals.

Experience and expertise

I have lived in Stoke-on-Trent for 36 years and began working in the care industry when I was 18 years old. During this time, I have progressed from working as a care support worker to a registered manager, working with individuals with various needs, including the elderly, people with learning disabilities, palliative care, autism and challenging behaviours. I have recently returned to the care industry after dedicating the past 4 years to raising my children where during this time I ran my own business part time. It was always my intention to return to domiciliary care once my children were settled in full-time education. I have my NVQ Level 2 and 3 in care and also my Level 4 NVQ in leadership and management, and I am a qualified trainer in moving and handling. I feel very passionate about providing care and feel that Helping Hands shares my values on providing high quality, truly person-centred care and support.

Why I chose Helping Hands

I decided to join Helping Hands as I have always wanted the opportunity to run a branch the right way with the right values and cultures embedded from the very beginning. I believe that good service stands by its ethos; a company should always listen to and care about its customers, delivering a service which takes pride in going above and beyond to help its customers feel cared and valued for.
